Just about six months have gone by since the last AGM. We the Committee havebeen putting our heads together to find ways and means to improve in what we dofor the members of SHRA and non-members too. You voted us in to surmount thechallenges and thats exactly what we are trying hard to achieve and to meet your

expectations. At every Committee Meeting we discuss the two pressing issues, thefirst is the security operations and ways to improve it and the other to is to getmore residents to join SHRA. At the least we need to reach critical mass in thenumber of members, to improve our financial position in order to support the

    needed security improvements.

All residents, members and non-members are enjoying the efforts and services ofthe security operations. There is only so much we can do with the limited financialresources and clearly more is needed. SHRAs biggest expenditure is the securityguards. Our financial position does not allow additional security guards and with thenew minimum wage for security guards imposed by the Ministry of Human Re-

sources, its an additional financial strain to SHRA.

Members, we not only ask that you continue supporting SHRA, but to encourageyour neighbours to become members too. SHRA need to grow the member count

from our present 340 to at least 450 in the next few months.

Non members, as you today are enjoying the security that members are payingfor, I ask that you do the right thing and be a member right away. The SHRA mem-bers and Taman Sri Hartamas Community need your support. The cost of the secu-rity guards needs to be shared among more members. Its not fair to enjoy the se-curity and not contribute towards it. All you need to do is call our Security Manager

Mr.Tang (0123682067) for a form. The Committee looks forward to your support.

    Security Matters!

In the last quarter (JulySeptember 2011) 5 incidents were reported to us. One of these was a break

-in and of the other 4, two were shoe thefts and two were snatchings. We are still puzzled over the

number of shoe theft incidents taking place as they can be so easily prevented.

We are making changes to the security arrangements and increasing the proportion of time that the

guards travel around the area as opposed to being based in one place. We believe the advantage of

this will be to increase visibility and make it harder for criminals to know exactly where the guards

will be at any one time.

Please make sure that you close and lock all doors and windows and put your alarm on when youleave your property.

In this months newsletter the committee thought it

would be appropriate to include additional informa-

tion on the support SHRA get and the perform-

ance over the last 4 years.

Membership - We can see from the membership

table on the left how many people and which

roads are providing the resources to ensure that

we can afford some level of security. Conversely it

also shows where residents are living off the back

of the more enlightened. As far as is practicable

we try to spread our resources to where the best

support is given. The more support we get the

greater the chances of more resources.

Incidents - In the chart above we can see both

the monthly reported incidents since 2007 and the

rolling 12 month totals. This line gives us some

idea of how good we are at reducing incidents and

you can see that for the 12 months up to February

2010 there were 46 incidents. Whereas in the 12 months up to October 2011 there have been 23

    - A reduction of 50%! That could be reduced further, but to do that we need more guards. To get

those we need more members. So come on help yourself and help your neighbours contact

Tengku Baha and join those who care.
