STEP 1 – OWNER TO DEFINE A FRAMEWORK

FOR SHIPYARD TO COMPLETE PLANNING, OWNERS MUST DEFINE A FRAMEWORK COVERING FOLLOWING ASPECTS

a) ANY SPECIFIC MAKERS THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED.

b) GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS WHERE MAKERS SHOULD HAVE PRESENCE.

c) ANY SYSTEM TYPES THAT SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED. (Eg No active substances, etc).

d) ANY SPECIFIC APPROVALS REQUIRED (Eg US Coastguard etc)

e) ANY SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (Eg Ballast/ Deballastminimum frequency, Operation in Fresh water etc)

STEP 2 – ESTABLISHING THE SHIPYARDESTABLISH A LONG TERM PARTNERSHIP WITH A SHIPYARD, HAVING FOLLOWING CAPABILITIES

a) PRESENCE IN THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA WHERE THE VESSEL OPERATES

b) CAPABLE OF SHORTLISTING MAKERS IN AN IMPARTIAL MANNER

c) HAVE STRONG ENGINEERING SETUP, WITH FACILITIES FOR 3D SCANNING AND 3 D ENGINEERING.

d) HAVE STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH MAKERS & CLASS SOCIETY.

e) ABILITY OF PRODUCING ENGINEERING OUTPUTS FOR EACH SHORTLISTED MAKER, FOR IDENTIFYING THE MOST EFFICIENT INSTALLATION.

e) ABILITY OF PRODUCING, PRODUCTION INFORMATION AND ENSURING TURNKEY DELIVERY IN THE SHORTEST TIME.

STEP 3 – PRE INSTALLATION ENGINEERINGRECEIVE RELEVANT VESSEL DRAWINGS AND INFORMATION FROM MAKERS.

ARRANGE SHIP INSPECTIONS/ 3 D SCANNING AND ARRIVE AT OPTIONS FOR PLACING EQUIPMENT.

CREATE ENGINEERING OUTPUTS FOR EVERY SHIP, FOR EACH SHORTLISTED MAKER.

ANALYSE PERFORMANCE OF SYSTEM FOR EACH SHORTLISTED MAKER.(EG ADEQUACY OF BALLAST PUMPS, GENERATORS ETC)

ANALYSE BILL OF QUANTITIES FOR RETROFIT FOR EACH SHORTLISTED MAKER.

STEP 4 – ORDER EQUIPMENT & GET READY

MAKE AN OVERALL JUDGEMENT OF THE BEST EQUIPMENT CHOICE BASED ON A TECHNO-COMMERCIAL EVALUATION.

ORDER EQUIPMENT AND OBTAIN INSTALLATION DRAWINGS & OTHER INFORMATION.

ADJUST ENGINEERING FOR THE CHOSEN EQUIPMENT

OBTAIN CLASS APPROVAL SPECIFIC TO THE CHOSEN EQUIPMENT

MANUFACTURE PIPE SPOOLS, STEEL SEATS, DISTRIBUTION BOARDS PRIOR VESSEL ARRIVAL

PLAN ALL ACTIVITIES TO BE CARRIED OUT, TO ACHIEVE SHORTEST POSSIBLE INSTALLATION, ONCE SHIP ARRIVES INTO THE YARD.
