THE EARLY DAYS

• Born on February 15,1970 and raised in Charleston, South Carolina.

• He first became obsessed with art in 1984 at the age of 14. Fairey then started to put his artwork on the back of skateboards and on the back of t-shirts.

The Break Out

• The piece of artwork that got Shepard famous was Andre the Giant Has a Posse.

Today

• Shepard Fairey has been a big name during the election of the first African American president.

• He has also recently gotten arrested for graffiti and may even get sued for creating the Obama HOPE poster. This is because he copied a picture of Obama taken by the Associated Press.

• He is also designing the cover for Led Zeppelin’s new biggest hits album.

Influences

• One person in which Shepard Fairey was influenced by is one of the best pop artists of all time, Andy Warhol.
