1 MINUTES from 9 October 2014 The second meeting of the 2014-2016 Gamma Chapter biennium began with a time of food and fellowship in LeAnn Smith’s classroom at Clarkdale School. The program, Instruction in the 21 st Century, was presented next by LeAnn Smith. Multiple electronic resources currently being used in the classroom were demonstrated including Nearpod, Remind, Marqueed, Wikispaces, Prezi, iTunes U, Socrative, and Edmodo. Using her smartboard, Mrs. Smith showed us the programs and sites and explained how she incorporates them into her instruction to increase student interest and to maintain better contact with parents and students. After the program concluded, Janet Berg called the meeting to order, and Kim Brown read the Gamma Chapter Collect. Following this, Shauna Waters presented minutes from the September meeting. No additions or corrections were indicated. Cheryl Thomas then presented the Treasurer’s Report for October and a corrected statement for September. Janet then updated us on the website redesign. Due to continuing concern about copyright issues, the GammaGram link has been completely removed from the site. Instead of the full GammaGram being online, meeting minutes and pictures will appear. Anyone needing an additional copy or back issue of a GammaGram may contact Janet. Miscellaneous reminders and announcements followed. Member updates were given, including information on several members with illness or special needs. The members of the Personal Growth Committee were reminded that the selection of the Red Rose recipient for this year must be completed by the fifteenth of the month. Additionally, Grant- in-Aid recommendations need to be completed by the twentieth. Janet informed us that the Meridian ADK chapter has accepted our invitation to attend one of our meetings and will join us at the Courthouse Annex in February. They have issued a reciprocal invitation to their scholarship tea in May. A reminder of the Leadership Management Seminar was given with more information to follow soon. Cheryl read a letter of resignation from Teresa Mikell which was regretfully accepted by the membership. The date and location of the next meeting Saturday, November 8 at Merrehope were announced where the society will celebrate the Birthday Brunch with our guest speaker Nancy Jay, Zeta State President. The cost for this special event is $20, and confirmation ahead of time is needed to provide an accurate headcount for the meal. The meeting was then adjourned. Shauna Waters
