problem. How do you teach users about a different organism in an interactive way?

thoughts.I want to make sure I involve all of the senses. Which senses are the most interesting for viewers? Touching is the one thing you cannot do in most museums. Why not create a device that replicates motion or some sort of touch?

process.I chose to replicate the motion of sharks because they move through the water in a very unique way. Most people have never experience this type of motion, so I thought it would be an interesting way to view and learn about this organism.

solution. In the end, I built a scale model that can be ridden as if you were a shark. The rider lays on top of the device and moves the fins side-to-side in order to propel the device forward. It will flex like a sharks body under water and move in a similar manner. I created this model by layering laser cut wood. I then sanded down the sides and painted the model like a nurse shark.
