2. What is SEWEA 3. SEWEA ISSUE

  • Currently there are no wind farms in Serbia because of legislation that does not support investment in renewable energy.
  • Ministry of mining and energy has made a new Energy Law draft, which does not contain the necessary provisions to permit the construction of wind farms and the implementation of other significant investments in renewable energy sources in Serbia.
  • SEWEA argues that the new Energy Law, expected to be passed in 2011, should provide clear rules and clear support to investors in renewable energy.
  • However, it was necessary to point out some serious gaps in the current new Energy Law draft with regard to renewable energy.
  • MC2 was engaged by SEWEA to help in promoting necessary changes in Serbian legislation and to raise awareness on this issue.
