Local Rotarians are working on their next project revolving around cloned redwoods. APRIL 7TH A whopper storm hit April 7th, bringing high winds with gusts of 78 mph on the Cape, and 60 mph across the dock. Waves crashed over the unprepared dock. One fisherman was injured (broken leg) rescuing crab pots during the storm. Winds swept through the valley as well, leaving many without power, and trees blocking roads and highways. April showers bring May flowers goes the poem, but these April storms are far from showers. PINNIPEDS Join Shoreline Education Awareness on Saturday, April 15th for another in its 2017 seminar series beginning at 9 AM at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biologys Boathouse in Charleston. Dr. Jan Hodder will present The Pinnipeds of Cape Arago”. Dr. Hodder is Senior Lecturer and Academic Coordinator at OIMB. Dr. Hodders research interests are diverse, ranging from the ecology of marine birds and mammals to the biological consequences of introduced species. She has also served as Director of the Center for Ocean Science Education Excellence (COSEE) Pacific Partnerships. A field trip will be included as part of the activities. Join Jan to observe pinnipeds such as Steller and California Sea Lions, Elephant Seals and Harbor Seals. We may find Gray Whales as well. Doors will open at 8:30 AM for registration. Pre-registration is not necessary. The seminar is free for Shoreline Education for Awareness members! A $5 donation for non- members is recommended. Snacks and coffee/tea will be available. AUDITIONS BANDON ORmdashThe Bandon Playhouse in conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of the original stage version is holding auditions for a full-scale musical revival of The Wizard of Oz The successful team of Jeff Norris (Director) and Paul Hay (Producer) are back together to partner on this musical The Wizard of Oz is a heartwarming tale of magic and fantasy good and evil and family and friendship Based on L Frank Baumrsquos novel and the 1939 film this musical adaption of The Wizard of Oz was originally premiered at the Municipal Theatre of St Louis in 1942 with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by EY Harburg The score is full of tunes from the timeless film such as ldquoWersquore Off To See the Wizardrdquo If I Only Had A Brainrdquo ldquoThe Merry Old Land of Ozrdquo and - of course -

ldquoOver The Rainbowrdquo At least 8 main characters are needed which includes three women and five men however they need a cast of all ages ranging from 5 to 75 ldquoLots of extras are needed and anyone who would like to be a part of the production not as a main character can be chosen for parts including munchkins crowstrees (singing) Ozians beauticians manicurists jitterbugs (dancing) snowman winkies flying monkeys and cyclone dances many of these may include some singing as backup Jeff Norris the director said This is good exposure and a great experience for new actors who want to be in the theater In preparation of the auditions Norris said there will be reading from the script He wants people to keep in mind that a stage performance is different from the movie Interested persons also need to come prepared to sing either with or without music There will be a music track for the main songs but if they have a favorite song they probably need to bring their own music said Jeff ldquoChildren and extras should also be prepared to sing ldquoDing Dong The witch is Deadrdquo Dorothy Candidates ldquoSomewhererdquo Scarecrow ldquoIf I only had a brainrdquo Tin Man ldquoIf I only had a heart and Lion ldquoif I only had the nerverdquo With such a large cast and stage support is truly needed so the upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz at the Sprague Community Theater has many opportunities for folks interested in theater whether on stage or behind the scenes We are holding the Wizard of OZ Auditions much earlier because it is a larger production and it takes a lot more time to learn the dances and the music said Paul Hay President of

the Bandon Playhouse We also understand that this production will be presented in late summer and we wanted to make sure we got in front of family vacations since practices will be held in May June and July Auditions will be held on Saturday April 29th and Sunday April 30th with children auditions will be from 100 to 300 and the adults from 300 to 600 that same evening Call backs will be

AUDITIONS BANDON ORmdashThe Bandon Playhouse in conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of the original stage version is holding auditions for a full-scale musical revival of The Wizard of Oz The successful team of Jeff Norris (Director) and Paul Hay (Producer) are back together to partner on this musical The Wizard of Oz is a heartwarming tale of magic and fantasy good and evil and family and friendship Based on L Frank Baumrsquos novel and the 1939 film this musical adaption of The Wizard of Oz was originally premiered at the Municipal Theatre of St Louis in 1942 with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by EY Harburg The score is full of tunes from the timeless film such as ldquoWersquore Off To See the Wizardrdquo If I Only Had A Brainrdquo ldquoThe Merry Old Land of Ozrdquo and - of course -

ldquoOver The Rainbowrdquo At least 8 main characters are needed which includes three women and five men however they need a cast of all ages ranging from 5 to 75 ldquoLots of extras are needed and anyone who would like to be a part of the production not as a main character can be chosen for parts including munchkins crowstrees (singing) Ozians beauticians manicurists jitterbugs (dancing) snowman winkies flying monkeys and cyclone dances many of these may include some singing as backup Jeff Norris the director said This is good exposure and a great experience for new actors who want to be in the theater In preparation of the auditions Norris said there will be reading from the script He wants people to keep in mind that a stage performance is different from the movie Interested persons also need to come prepared to sing either with or without music There will be a music track for the main songs but if they have a favorite song they probably need to bring their own music said Jeff ldquoChildren and extras should also be prepared to sing ldquoDing Dong The witch is Deadrdquo Dorothy Candidates ldquoSomewhererdquo Scarecrow ldquoIf I only had a brainrdquo Tin Man ldquoIf I only had a heart and Lion ldquoif I only had the nerverdquo With such a large cast and stage support is truly needed so the upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz at the Sprague Community Theater has many opportunities for folks interested in theater whether on stage or behind the scenes We are holding the Wizard of OZ Auditions much earlier because it is a larger production and it takes a lot more time to learn the dances and the music said Paul Hay President of
