The Uth are hosting a Souper Bowl Soup and Chili Cook-Off
TODAY in the fellowship hall! All proceeds go toward their 2020
Mission Trip to Virginia Beach with TEAMeffort Mission Trips.
Stop in with your appetite, a vote, and a donation! We appreciate
your help! 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., to allow everyone a chance to
taste and cast their vote. To-go containers will be available. Thanks to all who prepared
a soup or chili for the contest.
Will you be cheering for the San Francisco 49ers or the Kansas City Chiefs tonight
during Super Bowl LIV? Thank you to those who are voting for their team today by
bringing cans of soup to the carts up front for the Christian Community Cupboard!
College Care Team: Attention those who are wanting to help us reach out to our college
students throughout the school year! A new team is being built to help send care

The Great Thanksgiving
Our Lord’s Prayer No. 895 Giving the Bread & Cup—You are invited to come forward and receive
communion by “intinction”. You will receive a piece of bread which you will dip into the cup. After you partake you may choose to pray at the altar rail. As United Methodists, we celebrate “open communion”, meaning it is not necessary to belong to this congregation to receive the sacrament. John Wesley believed the sacrament had “saving power”, and no one should be denied. Children are always welcome.

Using the Gifts God Gave Us
We are Bailey and Ashton, and we are from Girl Scout Troop 38317. We are working on our Silver Award for Girl Scouts, and for it we are helping the Huntington City Mission by hand-making pillow cases and filling them with what the people who live at the mission need. At the moment the mission is asking for donations to help the residents who stay there. Please consider donating to our project so we can help the people at the mission who are in need. If you have any questions, contact Sarah Warner at 304-610-6768. A donation basket is in the narthex. We would like for you to donate: bath luffas, shower gel/wash, reusable cups, hairbrushes, children’s books, chapstick, small Bibles, razors (2-3 blade only), tampons, small toys, baby shampoo, diapers, baby bottles, baby wipes, formula, swaddle blankets, baby toys, face wipes, mini mouthwash, mini hand sanitizer, by 2/16. Welcome to Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church!
… You may wish to take your birth to age 2 children into our nursery which is warm,
nurturing, and well-supervised. The nursery is located off the narthex on the right.
After “Good News for Children” age 3 to third graders may leave to attend “COOL
Club”.
… Please keep mobile devices silenced during the service.
… As United Methodists, we celebrate “open Communion”; everyone is always
welcome at the Lord’s Table. Gluten free bread is available.
… The restrooms are located to the right at entrance to Fellowship Hall and down the
green hallway off the Narthex and to the left.
… At the close of worship, our tradition is to reach for your neighbor’s hand as we
sing together “Let There Be Peace on Earth”.
