SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
Be born in our hearing, Lord Jesus, and open our lives to you: our
Word, our Light, our Life.
WE GATHER IN GOD’S NAME
Welcome and Announcements
Prelude “Eternal Purposes” Messiaen
Ray Freeman, Organist
Call to Worship (Based on Isaiah 9:2)
Leader: The People walking in darkness have seen a great light;
People: those who have lived in a land of deep darkness--on them
light has shined.
All: Jesus Christ is our life and light. In his name and
power, let us worship God!
Opening Hymn “Angels from the Realms of Glory”
Prayer of Confession
Generous God, you give us the greatest gift of all, yourself,
but often we find it hard to take notice; we are caught up in
our own gifts, given and received. Forgive us, generous
God, for the casual way we treat your gift of love. Forgive
us when we fail to share your love with those who are most
in need of your love and grace. Cast out our sin and enter
in, be born in us today. Amen.
Please stand if you are able.

knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
All: Thanks be to God!
Passing of the Peace
Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
(Please share God’s peace with one another.)

CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING THE GIFT IS GIVEN
During this Advent and Christmas season, we reflect on the birth of Jesus as God’s greatest gift, given to all of us. Giving to the Christmas Joy Offering is one way we can celebrate and honor that gift, by faithfully supporting church workers in times of need and supporting development of the racial and ethnic leadership of our church.
Envelopes are in the pews for your Joy Gift today.
The flowers in the sanctuary were placed by
the Grace Family to the Glory of God and
in honor and memory of loved ones.
