PDCE SERTEC LIGHTNING RODThe SERTEC PDCE (variable electric field balancer lightning rod and electro static charges deionizer), it is Protection System Against Atmospherical Discharges (SPCR by its acronymn in Spanish) and Electromagnetic protector that AVOIDS LIGHTNING FORMATION. The function performed by the PDCE is to stop the process of the UPWARD LEADER generation itself and the protected structure, removing therefore, the ionizing effect on its coverage area.

The Technological innovation facilitates being able to create a balanced electric environment between the ground and the structure that needs protection. During a storm there is a potential difference between the cloud and the ground (charges) that are concentrate on the most prevailing points on ground. The new technology is in charge to transform them as they appear on a weak current that leaks trough the ground cable to the ground take.

It is a non polarized passive collector electrode being used as a protective collector mean for any kind of structure on land or sea.

The ionization appears starting 1.200 volts on any exposed element to a high voltage electric field. A constant ionization saturates the air (DI electric) and the appearance of leaders or ionized paths where the lightning energy can flow and strike. Any condenser taken to the ground and exposed to a high voltage electric field will make an internal potential difference on its electrodes, giving an orderly current flow being on a ground reference electrode. The condenser can't be charged with, having a constant current leak to the ground, this reverse ionization process is called De-ionization.

THE NATURAL GROUND ELECTRIC FIELDB. Franklin proved that in the atmosphere are two types of currents (negative and positive) from the Ohm and Joule«s laws. During the storm cloud formation the Cumulonimbus is transformed on a primary electric condensate generating a high tension field of large dimension modifying the electrical behavior of the atmosphere, changing the resistance (R) and inductance (L). This phenomenon causes the appearance of a variable tension overtaking the levels of the air electric resistance and electrifying the elements on the ground. The value of this field on ground is proportional to the cloud charge and inversely proportional to the low electrical resistance of the elements exposed on the ground. Its value goes from 120 V/m to high voltage. THE IONIZATIONA constant of the field allows to the ionization of the exposed elements on the ground that creates tracer paths that electrically communicate to the two points (cloud and ground) opening a conductive path for the energy charge in the form of a lightning. Pointed elements increase the chances for these charges to circulate between one another (conventional lightning rod).

THE LIGHTNING Given the dielectric air conditions, the value of the high voltage field, the ease of movement on the charge of the ionizing elements and the speed and charge of the cloud, the prospects of a lightning strikes increases.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF THE PDCE LIGHTNING ROD

It is a condenser connected to the ground trough an inferior electrode and exposed to the atmosphere by a superior electrode. The PDCE has no polarity and having the ability to dissipate 640.000 volts per microsecond, cancelling the ionization within one meter distance without producing a discharge from the lightning nor a short circuit. Charges of opposite sign are inducing down the ground and risen for the elements that are on the ground, according to the intensity and polarity of the cloud charge. If there are any electric conductors, the charges will use this mean of transportation because of its lower resistance due to the Exchange to compensate the potential difference.The PDCE does not need voltage, the lower head is charged with positive energy and induce to the upper head to balance the potential difference attracting charges of the opposite sign. During the increase of the potential differences between the two electrodes of the PDCE there is an orderly flow of electrons (current) that is being leaked into the ground and prevents the condenser of charge, transforming the charges into the current. The result is a weak current flow (micro amperes) that is charged constantly (during the storm) canceling the high voltage electric field.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

Defined as a PASSIVE COLLECTOR system of electrostatic currents ON TIME, that takes them to ground, the operating principle is based on balancing or compensate the variable electric field on the enviroment, avoiding the UPWARD LEADER on the PDCE SERTEC and on to the protected structure, depending on the coverage radio.

Non polarized PASSIVE COLLECTOR lightning rod working as a balancer or compensator of variable electric fields and de-ionizer of electrostatic charges, designed to protect against lightning strikes in all kinds of structures on land and sea.

CONNECTION TO THE MAST SYSTEM:The mast connection system is incorporated on the axis. The PDCE needs a mast of lower measure to 42mm of Ø and exterior of 49 mm Ø with a passing hole of 8 mm Ø to 32 mm of the mast edge.
