Non official flag of Martinique (since its a French department) with fer-de-lance vipers, snake that is native of the island. Martinique is, to sum up, a perfect melting pot of cultures, landscapes and tastes. French and Caribbean mix of lifestyles. Madinina is something you need to experience fully, you are going to discover one of the jewels of the Caribbean. I tried to give you an overview of Martinique through this article. I plan to give you more details about some historical and cultural points such as the Martinican Carnival, the Tour des yoles rondes ( Martinican traditional boat competition), traditional music and legends and interview some of the new famous artists here ( Nouvelle scne creole) . Martinique is a treasure to my eyes and I wish all the readers of RVMA would want to visit us here.

After their romantic boat ride in Inokashira Park in Kinchijoji, Mariko and Hawil decided to do it again... This time the two friends set up their appointment in Yokohama in front of the Pacific Hotel, but Mariko didnt know yet that her friend Hawil would have carried out his promise. As he suggested during their last meeting, Hawil cut his hair after more than ten years having dreadlocks! It was a real shock for Mariko who didnt expect it... After a nice walk in Minatomirai, the two friends decided to end their rendez-vous watching a romantic sunset on the roof of Osanbashi Pier...

Monique Dehaney, a Jamaican-born reggae-soul singer emerged on to the music scene in Japan in 2005. Since then she has done a variety of work ranging from wedding performances and live Jazz Bar gigs to singing back up for artistes such as Nakajima Mika, Atsushi (from Exile) and Boys to Men. After relocating to Tokyo in 2007, Monique began reinforcing her musical skills with a vocal coach as well as guitar and piano lessons. Following in the footsteps of artistes such as Nina Simone, Mariah Carey and Chrisette Michele, Monique hopes to establish herself as a strong female performer with the potential to move audiences with her melodious mezzo voice. Her love of singing and performing, cultivated at a very early age by her parents, keeps her motivated and head-strong as she continues her musical journey. Moniques jazzy-soulful tone is infused with a dancehall reggae background, which distinguishes her voice from her contemporaries. Currently, Monique is hard at work on her debut album featuring original songs, Look of Love which is set to a dancehall rhythm and Scarlett Letter which has a sultry R&B vibe. Her hope is to have these singles in rotation sometime this year before the release of her album. Passionate about music and the entertainment industry, Monique has already positioned herself as a prominent entertainment figure within the Tokyo Entertainment scene. Her eclectic energy and mesmerizing voice is sure to make waves world-wide.

The Festival held on August 25th - 26th in Yoyogi Park shouldnt have been missed under any pretext... It was under a blazing sun, dressed in traditional kimonos and dancing perfected by choreographers, that 90 teams paraded for the delight of thousands of spectators and lucky tourists passing by at the right time...But for Rendez-Vous in the Asia Magazine the most interesting moment of the festival was when special guests joined the festival: Ghanaians students and friends in Tokyo! Soon after the announcement of the African group, the public who were not used to seeing large numers of black people attending the festival, came closer to see them. After greeting the audience, a DJ hiding behind a van carrying loudspeakers started to raise the volume of the sound. It was the same feeling as when you walk down Princess Street in Abidjan or go to Maquis (Bar Club outdoors) competing with other sound systems by turning the volume to its maximum. Dressed with yellow T-shirts with the words GHANA printed on it and black pants, the group of Ghanaian students showed up led by one of the students carrying a flag of their country. The drums followed them, like they do back in their countries; you were able to feel the energy and a sense of rhythm that attracted a large number of people along the 100 meters road. The public was completely seduced by the rhythms and people were clapping their hands, jumping up etc... At the end of the parade, two young Ghanaians made few dance steps called Azondo (urban dance from Ghana). Once the speakers were turned off the students surrounded one of them who continued to play djembe... African people are definitely the kings of the party !
