Dear Friends in Christ, Greengs of Peace and Love! The disciples on their way to Capernaum in this weekend’s Gospel is just like most of us. As we move our way to Jesus in our lives, we argue. Some of them are expressed verbally (and if you’re an Italian, or a frustrated Italian like me, you use extensively your hands in expressing your point), some just passively. So, what do we argue about? Polics, relaonships, religion, morality, the way people drive, and countless others, maybe mundane, concerns. The disciples were arguing about who was the greatest among them. Peter, James and John just saw Jesus being transfigured and maybe, they were telling the rest of them that they have a secret that they cannot tell. And Andrew must have remarked to Peter, “Oh yeah, had I not introduced you to Jesus, you would not been here.” “Wait a minute,” Judas must have interrupted. “Had I not been your treasurer, all of you had been starving by now.” Jesus knew what was in their hearts, just as He knows what is in us now. He took a child and said, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.” We have great opportunies in receiving children in Jesus’s name through our families, and especially through our St. Jerome School. We are following what Jesus told us when we connually support our children, through the only Catholic grade school in our local area. We receive the Father who sent Jesus to our lives, when we receive a child in the name of our Lord. Thank you for constantly being on our side for the sake of our children. They are the future of our Church, and of our faith. Thank you for helping us increase their enrollment. Thank you for your abiding help and support. Jesus had the answer to all of our arguments—a child. Blessings to you and your loved ones! F. J

GODPARENTS/SPONSORS Have you been asked to be a GODPARENT? Have you been asked to SPONSOR someone ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, or for an adult in the RCIA program?
It is an honor and a privilege to be asked. You are seen as someone that a family, child, teenager, or adult looks up to as living a strong, Christian Catholic faith. You model that behavior in the way that you live your life.
To receive a sponsorship form signed and sealed by the Pastor, please keep the following in mind:
I am age 16 or older. I am registered in the parish. If married, the marriage is recognized by the Catholic Church. I attend Mass on a regular basis. I contribute to the support of the Church, as best I can. (Attendance is taken by the envelopes in the collection
basket). I receive Sacraments according to the Laws of the Church, and I fulfill the requirements listed above.
The Church takes very seriously the role of being a sponsor. Choosing a sponsor would be based on the person’s dedication to the faith and regular practice thereof.
Sponsor letters will not be given to individuals who do not meet these criteria.

Our Lady Of Hope Parish will be parcipang in the very important ministry, “Forty Day’s For Life”.
The Fall campaign begins September 26th, and runs through November 4, 2018. We are partnering with other local parishes, conducng peaceful, prayerful vigils at the Planned Parenthood facility on Newman Springs Road in Shrewsbury, where the aborons are performed.
40 Days for Life vigils are the last line of defense for babies who are minutes away from being ripped apart and killed through aboron. In fact, former aboron industry workers report that when vigil parcipants are on site, the no-show rate for aboron appointments can be as high as 75%.
“As Catholics we have a responsibility to stand for Life!”
Now more than ever, we need you to come and join us. Please bring your rosary, a friend (or two), and stand up with us Mondays starng October 1st through October 29th for one hour, between the hours of 8AM and 6PM at Planned Parenthood in Shrewsbury.
For quesons, and or sign up, please call Mary Richards at (732)222-1562 or email- [email protected]

Here’s One Posive Encouragement
GOD IS LOVE.
What does that mean to you? I do not have the answer for you. Only you know what God’s love means to you. Do you believe that God sent Jesus to show his love and to teach us how to love Him and each other? Jesus reminded us to follow the commandments, but are we following those commandments and being obedient to ourselves and to God? Are we humble and respectful and do we really love each other? God loves us and our real happiness awaits in heaven with Him, Jesus and our Lady.
A warm welcome to the following families who have just registered in our Parish:
SSister Mary Anthony Schmittauer, O.P. and
Andrew and Christie Spiezio, and their son, Christopher

This Sunday we are celebrang Catechecal Sunday. During our Masses we pray for all those involved in handing on the faith to children, youth, and adults in our parish. This Sunday reminds each of us that in Bapsm and Confirmaon we are all charged with the responsibility of handing on and witnessing to our faith in all we do. Our school and parish catechecal programs help us to fulfill that responsibility by presenng our faith in a systemac way. We thank our school teachers and parish catechists for sharing the light of faith with our children. We also recognize that parents and guardians are the number one catechists in the spiritual lives of their children. During this year let us pray for one another that we will grow closer to our loving God as we encounter Jesus Christ through the Good News He proclaimed and the sacraments He gave us.
