Where did the dog days of summer go? It seems like yesterday we were preparing for summer and now Labor Day has passed, children have returned to school, colleges are in full swing and the days are already beginning to show signs of getting shorter.

September will be an exciting month for First Presbyterian Church, Liberal. The Pastor Search Committee will be presenting a nominee for the position of pastor to serve our church. Our church has been in prayer, planning and preparation for almost two years to find the right person to lead our church. The

PNC committee has worked very long and hard hours to bring us this nominee. If you have a chance to see the PNC committee members please thank them for this long journey they have been on. I’m sure it hasn’t always been easy, nor fun but probably has been a rewarding experience. THANK YOU, PNC COMMITTEE MEMBERS!!

Please join us September 7th to have a chance to meet Pastor Nominee, stay for Fellowship Dinner following church services and then attend the Congregational Meeting at 1:30 p.m. to vote on this candidate. All members of the church should plan to attend.

From the Secretary

September is almost here, the pre-school still has several opening, so let us pray that we are able to fill the rooms at the First Presbyterian Pre-school and Day Care Center.

There were several of our Church members that went on vacation during the month of August. But I am glad that everyone is back and attending Church again. We are a famiky here at this Church and the members are missed when they are gone for several weeks.

On September 7, I am looking forward to meeting the candidate that the Church Pastoral Search Committee will present for the position as Pastor to serve this Church.

Dear Cathy and Deacons of First Presbyterian Church,

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your church on Friday night, July 25 while we were traveling home to Kansas City. Your church is beautiful and the entire building was perfect for what we needed to accomplish that night – one last time for small group meetings and SLEEP!

Enclosed is a check of $250 – thank you so much for your hospitality and your flexibility with our group!

And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the wonderful breakfast Saturday morning! That was not necessary but GREATLY appreciated by everyone! If we are ever driving that way again, I hope we can stop by and say “Hi”!

Thank you so much, I hope you all are doing well.

Blessings to you all,

Kate Wooldridge Interim Youth Director

First Presbyterian ChurchPre-School and Day Care Center

Another school year has started and is in full bloom. Pre-school here at the child care center started on Monday August 18, 2014.

We have morning class and an afternoon class, Formal pre-school isMonday – Thursday and is 4 days a week. The A.M. class is from 9:00-11:30 and the P.M. class is from 12:00-2:30.

We currently have 11 children enrolled in the A.M. class and 8 children enrolled in the P.M. class with a possibility of 2 new children starting this week.

Jean Ankle, who was previously the Early Learner teacher is now the Formal pre-school teacher and Kimberly Masters is her assistant. We still have a few openings left for anyone that is interested in putting their child in pre-school.

Vanessa Marquez is now the new Early Learners teacher. She had a previously been my assistant in the

Formal pre-school class and has been a teacher for pre-school, kindergarten and school aid for children. We wish these teachers luck in their new positions.

Jordyn Apsley has left us to finish her schooling and has intentions to graduate early. We want to wish Jordyn well in her studies.

Jaclyn Ramirez has been taking nursing classes and received her CNA certificate in May of this year. Jaclyn has decided to do Cosmetology this year. As she’s undecided on what she really wants to be, whether a registered nurse or a cosmetologist.

Jaclyn will still work here in the kindergarten and school-age class room. We want to wish, Jaclyn good luck in making a very important decision in her life and hope that she can make a decision when she gets done with Cosmetology School.

We want to welcome a new teacher Tanya Carter and Maria Oralia Velader.

We will be closed Monday, September 1st for the Labor Day Holiday. Have a safe weekend.
