Roadway Projects

• TxDOT has verbally agreed to adjust their design to match the Orange Street design
• Engineer is met with Construction Manager on site to verify utility relocation
• Advertise schedule October 13th and 20th 2010
Orange Street
• Coordinating work with TxDOT and BNSF• One parcel remains but we have a ROE• Utilities continuing relocation• Working with BDD4 to address their concerns
with lowering Walnut Street• Negotiating Construction Management
services• Coordinating a constructability review
Walnut Reconstruction
• 100% plans currently under review• Engineer began revising plans to incorporate
drainage changes• $1.2M overall savings by upsizing the
trunkline and taking additional flows to the Cowart Creek Diversion Ditch
• Sent Noise Impact Analysis contract to consultant for signature.
• ROW acquisition underway – 55 of 65 parcels acquired
Bailey Road (Veterans to FM1128)
• Final clean-up in progress• Signals in full operation at CR 94 and Country
Place Blvd.• Continued work with CenterPoint to install
streetlights along the new roadway• Conducted Pre-construction conference and
issued NTP for Soundwall Construction

Drainage Projects
Detention Pond• Pond A approximately 94% excavated• Hauling activities and fill placement at second fill
site continued• JKC continued working with Public Works to
finalize the electrical design for the pump station; expecting submittal October 14th
• ESPA has been authorized to continue their design based on the revised Bailey drainage plan; expecting submittal October 14th
Cowart Creek Diversion
Diversion Ditch• East – West corridor acquisition complete• Conoco Phillips issued NTP• DD4 to begin the ditch work as soon as
hauling operation is completed

• Contractor completing punch list items• Harris completed work at the Bailey pond to
fill in washed out area under pilot channel at outfall to Cowart’s Creek, low spots were also filled in

Facility Projects
Old PD Renovations
• Met with the architect to further address the revised scope of the project
• Asbestos abatement was performed September 23rd
• Electrical, plumbing, and surveillance equipment have been removed from the jail
• Jail demolition began October 7th
• Off-site storage to be brought to the jail late October
• Completed review of 90% Construction Documents• Finalized means of providing Fuel Management
upgrades within project so that Orange Street fuel facility is updated at the same time as the system is installed at Hillhouse
• Plans in for permitting• Preparing submittal for LEED Certification
Hillhouse Road Service Center
• Completed Testing and Balancing• Worked to resolve remaining punch list items
with contractor• Rescheduled TDLR inspection for October
Recreation and Natatorium Center
• Facility Access Control and Security system is now complete and programmed
• HVAC system undergoing some minor changes in the mode of operation capabilities
• Completed electrical and HVAC system and equipment audit on facility with Program Manager
• Working towards building commissioning
Public Safety Building
• Building slab foundation passed strength tests• The slab surface will undergo a grinding process in
specified areas to ensure proper adherence to flooring finishes.
• Contractor began erecting building August 28th
• Working with a vendor on a proposal to provide an alerting system for the facility that would tie into the City’s existing dispatch system
• Site paving poured
Fire Station #5
• FDC received bids• $997,000• Building permit issued• Developer is planning ground breaking
Fire Station #6
• Completing repairs in existing building • Includes flooring, drywall, baseboards,
doorframes, countertops, and sinks• Acquiring new furniture
Animal Control Expansion
Parks
• New easement mapping received – moving forward with acquisition
• Property appraisals received and offers made.• Files are being prepared for condemnation
proceedings.• City staff met with design firm to begin finalizing
construction plans in preparation for bidding
Trail Connectivity
• Design agreement pending Council approval

• Clearing and grubbing of water line easements along Pearland Parkway and McHard Road has been completed
• Beltway 8 tunneling completed• Approximately 1,800 feet south of Clear
Creek completed • CoH 72” line scheduled for completion in
March 2011

• Excavation for the foundation of the 5MG Ground Storage Tank completed

Knapp Road LS & SH35 Utilities
• PEDC Funded• 100% plans completed. • Easement donations pursued by PEDC• PEDC working with developer on construction
plan and evaluating alternatives for funding the construction
• A portion of the work along Spectrum Blvd is planned to be built under a separate contract; a pre-construction meeting has been scheduled with the City to begin that portion of the work.
Hooper Road Utilities
• PER submitted for approval• Negotiating design contract with Malcom Pirnie;
submit for Council approval in October
Longwood WWTP Rehabilitation
• Staff is currently reviewing the first draft of Preliminary Engineering Report
• PER completion scheduled for October 2010
Barry Rose WWTP Rehabilitation
• Held substantial walk through inspections of Knapp Road lift station and Blockbuster grinder pump station
• Punch list items noted• All facilities have been placed in operation
