ADULT FAITH FORMATION BOOK DISCUSSION

We are planning another book discussion this Fall. Letters to a Young Catholic by George Weigel is well written and in a readable style for “young Catholics, not so young Catholics, and all who are curious as to what it means to be a Catholic.” This book takes a tour of the Catholic world – interweaving landmarks and tales of integral people of the faith with Catholic teaching. These can be purchased thru Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon at a reasonable price. If interested, purchase the book and start reading. The plan is to meet two Monday evenings per month as well as an additional late afternoon time (5-6pm) for Faith Formation parents and others who may not wish to come out at night. Our introductory gathering will be Monday, October 24 at 7pm. Please call Nancy Dunn if interested. We are asking people to sign up so we can best prepare the sessions.

LOOKING AHEAD: Want to do something different to prepare for Lent? I am considering the possibility of arranging a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land for 2017 at the request of a number of people. Right now, I am thinking of February of next year because the costs are better and it would make a great preparation for Lent... Here is what I am asking you now: If you think that you would seriously consider this trip, please do two things...call the Rectory and let me know and also talk to friends in and outside the parish who also might be interested. In the meantime, I will set up the meeting for early October, get more details and will contact other parishes and ask them to “spread the word” for us. That way, if we have close to 25 interested people to start, we would be ready to go. Please think about this and pray over it and then help me spread the word. Keep in mind the fact that you are NOT making any final decision at this time, just a statement that you are more than just curious...Thanks for your help.
