General Time Line• Senior Credit Check• Turn in cap/gown forms, diploma name form,
teacher presenter form.• Go on college visits• Take the ACT• Apply to colleges• Request transcripts and letters of recomendation• Complete the FAFSA/ Apply for scholarships• Decide on a college/university• Complete course work• May 23 GRADUATION!
Senior Credit Checks
• Seniors will meet 1:1 with their counselor to ensure graduation requirements have been met, discuss future plans, and answer questions.
• Parents are welcome so please have your student schedule their check accordingly.
• These should be complete by 10/10.• Students will leave with an unofficial copy of
their transcript.
Graduation Paperwork
• Their will be many forms throughout the year to complete and turn in. Please pay attention to deadlines.– Cap and gown- Jostens.com– Diploma name form- Due 11/21– Teacher presenter form – 4/24– Senior survey- early May
ACT
• It is time to take the ACT.• There are only 2 dates left for college
admittance purposes.– October 25
• Register by 10/3 with a late fee• Prep class offered at BWHS on Oct. 6 &8, $35
– December 13• Register by Nov. 7
College Applications
• Yes. It is time for your student to apply to college already.
• Pay attention to dates. They are non-negotiable.• Applications can be found on college websites• Apply using the appropriate type of application
(early decision vs early action vs regular decision)
• Many schools will waive the application fee if the student visits the school.
• Make final college decision in the spring.
Types of College applications
Transcripts and Letters of Recommendation
• ALL transcript and teacher letters of recommendation need to be requested through Naviance.– Emails and phone calls are not acceptable
requests.– A face to face meeting is required for letters of
recommendation as well as brag sheets or a resume.
– 2 week notice is needed to complete paperwork.
Scholarships
• Many colleges will offer financial aid.• Non-college specific scholarships will be
listed in Naviance.– Most local scholarships will not be open for
application until after the new year.– Pay attention to deadlines.– Complete your FAFSA as soon as possible.– There will be a financial aid presentation on
Nov. 16th.
Finish Strong
• Students need to finish strong.• Complete all course work BEFORE final
exams in May• Say no to senioritis!
• GRADUATE MAY 23!!
