The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to the 33rd edition of the HKT workshop series!Please find the main information below, as well as on the conference website: www.unil.ch/hkt2018
Scientific program & extras
There will be one oral session at a time alternating with daily changing poster sessions. Themes will include – but are not limited to – the areas of:• structure and dynamics of the HKT region on various
spatial and temporal scales,• processes at depth, at surface, and their connections,• natural hazards of the HKT area.
Keynote speaker:• Peter Molnar, U. Colorado, Boulder, USA
Best PhD student presentation awards:• to recognize outstanding oral and poster presentations,• contributions evaluated by the Scientific Committee.
Retrospective photo exhibition:• informal collection of pre-digital era HKT area photos,• public online access to the submitted pictures.

Conference• regular participant (by 30. April) 270 CHF• regular PhD participant (by 30. April) 220 CHF• last-minute registration (by 15. May) 320 CHFFee includes 3 lunches, coffee breaks, ice-breaker*, 1 buffetdinner, 1 gala dinner* (* available for accompanying guests).
Field trip (max. 30 people – first come first served)• double-room accommodation 420 CHF• single-room accommodation 500 CHFFee also includes transportation, meals & geological guide.

Provisional program
Day 1: From the foreland basin to the pre-Alpine basement• Lavaux: Panorama on the Western Alps• Dorénaz: Upper Carboniferous deposits in the Aiguilles-
Rouges Massif• Emosson: Panorama on the Mont-Blanc Massif; migmatites in
the basement (pre-Alpine history) and thrusting of the Alpine Morcles nappe
Folds and thrusts in the frontal part of the Helvetic Wildhornnappe, Sanetsch area (planned for day 2).

Day 2: The Helvetic nappe system• Sanetsch dam: Panorama on the frontal part of the Helvetic
Wildhorn nappe and on the Prealps nappe system• Sanetsch pass: Helvetic nappe stack• Trek on the Tsanfleuron lapiaz: highly sheared, overturned
limb of a fold nappe; Eocene transgression, from continental deposits to Oligocene volcanoclastic flysch deposits
Day 3: Continent to ocean transition• Nax: Panorama on the Lower Penninic nappe system; the
Valais and Briançonnais paleogeographic domains• Evolène-Arolla: Transition from continent to ocean; the
distribution and significance of breccia deposits and ophiolite material in the ocean derived Tsaté nappe (accretion prism during subduction)
• Touristic stop at the Pyramides d’Euseignes (if time allows)
Logistics

• Visa: please check specifications for your nationality. We will provide an invitation letter to your potential visa application.
• Travel:• fly to Geneva (nearest), or to Zürich, Basel, Bern,• take the train to Lausanne (www.sbb.ch),• cross the lake by ship from France (www.cgn.ch),• we encourage participants not to come by car.
• Accommodation booking is the task of conference participants, and we encourage you to book early. Some advice is summarized on our website, including a few pre-booked rooms at relatively low prices for narrow budgets.
• Venue of the conference will be the University of Lausanne campus, along metro line . Local map: www.map.search.ch. Public transportation: www.t-l.ch.
• Registration, abstract submission and paymentare now open. These three steps can be performed at different times. Abstracts should be 100-500 words long, can include references and one figure.
