Happy Easter
Fire, light, water and oil, bread and wine, a common table - these are the ele-
mental symbols which thrill our hearts on this night of nights, the Easter Vig-
il.
“This is the night, when Christ broke the prison-bars of death and rose victo-
rious from the underworld.”
This is the night of life, of light, of love. This is the night on which light
blazes in the darkness, the night on which we wait and watch and listen, the
night we bathe in the waters of life, the night we break bread at table with the
risen Lord.
Six weeks ago we set out as a community together - in prayer, and with fast-
ing and almsgiving. And now in joy and peace we exclaim, “Alleluia!”
To pave the way for this shout of praise we retell the story of our salvation
guided by the light of the paschal candle, symbol of the risen Lord.
Happy Easter everyone! May it be a special time of celebration for us all.

Pilgrimage To The Saints And Martyrs
Of England, Wales And Scotland
With Father Ted Tyler A wonderful two-week pilgrimage to England, Wales
and Scotland is available for the end of this coming
September (2014). It will be led by Father Ted Tyler
([email protected]), Parish Priest of Upper Blue
Mountains.
The theme of it will be the heroic martyrs and saints
before, during and since the Reformation. For instance,
we shall visit Tyburn and the sites of the martyrdoms
of Saint Thomas More, St John Fisher, as well as Can-
terbury with St Thomas A’ Becket, York with St Mar-
garet Clitherow (the “pearl of York), Blessed John
Henry Newman at Oxford and Birmingham, the Lan-
caster martyrs, the home of Father John Lingard
(historian and author of “Hail Queen of Heaven”), and
other places famed for their place in English Catholic
history such as, Downside Abbey and Arundel church
and castle.
It will be a great and inspiring holiday. If you would like
to learn more, email Father Ted at [email protected]
As we still have 8 books of tickets to sell, we’ve decided to continue selling tickets after Mass throughout April.
We encourage parishioners and school families to take a book to sell. To request a ticket - or better still - a book of tickets, call 9787 7777, or drop into the Parish office during school hours Tuesday to Friday, or the School Office Monday to Friday. All raffle books (including unsold tickets) must be returned to the Parish office with payment by Monday April 28th: please note this is the FINAL day for tickets and money to be
returned. If you have already sold all of your tickets, please return the book and money ASAP.
