Seagull Industries (Pty) Ltd is a privately owned manufacturing, importing, exporting and distribution company. For over 36 years, our

head quarters have been based in Atlantis, Cape Town, where we boast a 9500m2 factory, showroom and warehousing facilities.

The manufacturing side of the company consists of two divisions. The Stitching Division produces Rainwear and more upmarket Baby

Waterproof pants. The High Frequency PVC Welding Plant manufactures a range of Above-ground Swimming Pools, Infl atables, Cooler

bags, Ice Bricks, Air Jacks, Baby Waterproof Pants and Promotional branded Infl atable items.

In addition, Seagull Industries also distributes a broad range of exciting imported lines.

In recent years the growth we have experienced has taken us across South Africa and into international markets.

The Company is listed with all the Major Retail Stores as well as many Wholesalers, Independents and Hardware Stores.

With over 36 years experience in manufacturing PVC pools for the South African market, you can trust the high quality and

extensive after-sales service Seagull Industries provides with every pool purchased.

All our above-ground pools are made from high quality outdoor formulation PVC with a fully galvanised frame for your peace of

mind. Our pools range in size from 198cm right up to our latest model which measures 5 metres in diameter. Each pool comes

with a detailed yet simplifi ed installation manual, so for some of our models it could take less than an hour to be up and ready

to enjoy!

In addition, Seagull Industries also stocks a range of optional accessories such as pool covers, automatic pumps, maintenance

kits, pool ladders, etc.

INSULATION

Sleeping Bags

Quite simply, it is the air cells trapped by the fi lling of sleeping bags that provides the insulation. The smaller and more numerous

the air cells, the more they insulate. For example, the large volume of air in an air bed does not do a good job of insulating you from

the cold ground because convection currents cause the warm and cold air to circulate inside the air bed. Mountaineers sleep on ice at

8000mtrs above sea level using 20mm of closed-cell foam for insulation. It is the millions of microscopic bubbles trapped in the closed-

cell foam that provides ultimate insulation.

• Women and ‘cold’ sleepers should choose a bag that is 5 degrees warmer than the comfort rating.

• Always choose a mattress that will suit the minimum temperatures you are expecting.

• You sleep warmer after a good meal.

• After a day of high activity, you may tend to sleep ‘colder’ than usual.

• Always choose a bag that is close to your body size. On a cold night, if the bag is too big, it will require more

energy to fi ll with warm air. This is important if you are a ‘cold’ sleeper.

• We lose over 60% of body heat from our neck and head. It makes sense that sleeping bags used in cold

temperatures should have a hood. If not, wear a beanie to bed.

• All sleeping bags off er a little less insulation on cool, wet nights. Moisture gets amongst the fi bres and water

is not as good an insulating medium as air.

• If sleeping in the open, ‘wind chill’ has to be taken into account. The presence of wind will drop the

temperature dramatically.

• If you need to increase the warmth of your sleeping bag, never drape a blanket on top of the bag. This

compresses the fi ll and actually decreases the warmth. It is best to wear extra clothes or wrap yourself in a

blanket inside a sleeping bag. An optional sleeping bag liner off ers extra warmth.

WHEN CHOOSING A SLEEPING BAG REMEMBER...

INSULATION FROM THE GROUND, BUNK OR HAMMOCK

When you lie in a sleeping bag you compress the insulating fi bres under you. This means that the sleeping bag off ers minimal

insulation from the ground. To have a good night’s sleep use an insulating layer like a closed-cell foam or open-cell foam mattress. You

might fi nd a closed-cell foam mat a little too fi rm, and on cold ground the big comfy airbed a little cold. The happy medium is about

5-10 cms of open-cell foam. Obviously, the thicker the foam the more comfortable it will be, but not everyone has the room to carry a

normal mattress with them.

Our quoted temperature ratings are based on trials and user feedback. They are intended to be used as a guide to help with your

decision of what sleeping bag best suits you. If we think in terms of warm or cold sleepers, women are generally cold sleepers. We off er

a minimum temperature rating which would suit ‘warm’ sleepers and a comfort rating that would suit the average sleeper.

You don’t need electricity, just add ice and rock or coarse salt in one end and ice cream mix in the other end–then have a

ball as you shake it, pass it or roll it!

The ice cream mix can be as simple as cream, sugar and vanilla. Try fl avours from our recipe list included or make up your

own.

Made of durable polycarbonate, it’s lightweight, portable and easy to clean. It’s ideal for Camping, Boating, Picnics, Parties,

Travel...anywhere!

Here’s the scoop!

1 Fill the ice end with as much ice as possible, then add rock or coarse salt.

2 Mix up your ice cream ingredients in a container, then pour mix into the end with the metal cylinder.

3 Have a ball! Shake, roll and pass it around as you mix and freeze the ingredients.

4 After about 10 minutes open the ice cream end, and scrape the sides of the cylinder to mix up the ice cream mix.

You will see some of the mix freezing on the sides by now. Then check the ice end. If you notice the ice appears to be

melting, add more ice and rock or coarse salt if needed. Continue shaking for approximately 5–10 more minutes.

5 You now have about a pint of delicious soft-serve ice cream. The consistency will vary based on the ice, your mix, the

outside temperature, shaking frequency, etc. Once the ice cream is to the consistency of your liking, gently scoop it out

and Enjoy!

Here’s all you need to make vanilla ice cream:

1 Ice + Rock or Coarse Salt (fi ll with as much ice as possible, then add rock salt)

2 Half & Half + Sugar + Vanilla (pour mix into the aluminum cylinder)

3 A Group of Friends (to help shake the ball!)
