Visiting Days & Nights Continue! SKIPPER SCOOP: At Music, Skippers banged on the drum and practiced keeping the beat as they learned about rhythm with Studio Noir. JULY 19, 2019 VOLUME #310 THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF ROLLING RIVER DAY CAMP The Captain’s Log MARINER MESSAGES: After studying the solar system this week, Mariners created planetary charts using modeling clay at Nature. NAVIGATOR NOTES: Navigators made and gobbled up a Rolling River favorite - crabby patties - when they visited Cooking this week at the RIVA. Visiting Days & Nights kicked off this week, and we welcomed our families to play and watch us at camp. We loved showing off our new skills on the courts, fields, hockey rink and in the pool! Week #3 also brought many exciting activities to the RIVA. On Monday, Kindergarteners played with friends and were treated to yummy ice cream treats at Once Upon a Sundae in RVC. On Tuesday, Navigators explored the Coney Island Aquarium and rode the coasters at Luna Park while 3rd & 4th graders climbed and played at Active Kidz & Pre-K girls balanced and jumped high at 5 Star Gymnastics. Also on Tuesday, CITs had the fields and pool all to themselves for their first After-Camp party. On Wednesday, 7th & 8th Graders bowled lucky strikes while CITs experienced the lights, cameras, and action of the Museum of the Moving Image. On Thursday, 2nd graders knocked down pins at Bowling, 5th grade boys took over the DJ booth at Spin DJ, and 5th grade girls cooled off at the movies. Also on Thursday, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders went on a giant adventure interacting with miniature cities at Gulliver’s Gate NYC. Today, the RIVA transformed into a World of Dance, as campers and counselors participated in interactive dance shows and showed off their best moves on the dance floor. Intramurals is in full swing as we inch closer to the 2o19 Championships. Who will be victorious at the end of the summer? Check the blog for updated scores. Anchors Aweigh!     B1 Lobsters putted at Mini Golf and made necklaces at Loading Dock. B2 Sharks showed off their athletic skills in the Gaga pit & crafted treasure boxes at Woodworking. G1 Starfish sailed the high seas at Boating & whipped up yummy crabby patties at Cooking. G2 Seals created pinch pots at Ceramics & played with friends at Pebble Playground. All the 2nd Graders loved welcoming their parents to camp for Visiting Night on Wednesday! G4 Angelfish made beachscapes at Natures and knocked down pins at Bowling. G5 Scallops stayed cool in the pool and participated in a fierce kickball battle. B4 Gators practiced all week for the second grade show at Drama and enjoyed their first trip to the bowling alley. B5 Crocodiles beat the heat playing Wii games in Fitness Fun and climbed high at Pebble Playground. Next week, we’ll feature the Mariner Division Third Graders.
