Joint Safety ActionsCurrent situation

For many years, the development of new rail infrastructure on the border between Mexico and the United States was stagnant.

As a result of a strong Mexican federal investment and interest synergy with the United States, the Matamoros-Brownsville Bypass and Railway Bridge, was built and will soon be in operation.

Currently import - export railway activities develop normally at border crossings in Tijuana-San Ysidro (Admicarga) Calexico-Mexicali, Nogales, Nogales, Ciudad Juarez-El Paso, Piedras Negras-Eagle Pass (Ferromex) Nuevo Laredo -Laredo and Matamoros-Brownsville (KCSM).

Joint action proposal To integrate a working group capable of exploring the possibility of resuming

joint inspection activities at the border, with staff from Mexico-SCT, USA-FRA and the railway companies, giving priority to a review program for units transporting dangerous materials and waste, in order to increase safety in this type of traffic.
