Trinity-St. Luke’s News

While it is still summer, planning continues for the upcoming school year at Trinity-St. Luke's. Please note the following items.

A TSL supply list for the 2013-2014 is available in the narthexes of each church.

This list is also being supplied to the major retailers in town.

TSL registration will be held on Thursday, August 8, from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm at the Western Avenue campus. A Registration Day letter will be sent to all families by the week of July 22.

School cleaning at both campuses will be held on Saturday, August 17, from

9 am to noon. We ask all school families and all congregational members to consider helping that morning to finish getting our buildings ready for the new school year. The Joint Board will serve a lunch at the conclusion of the cleaning to thank those who helped.

Mr. Matthew Foxen of El Paso, TX, has accepted the one-year divine call to serve

as our one of our seventh and eighth grade teacher. Previously he had served as grades 5-8 teacher and principal at Trinity Lutheran School in El Paso. Mr. Foxen will be moving to Watertown toward the end of July.

Our other seventh and eighth grade teacher, Mr. Alex Moore, was united in

matrimony with Miss Heather Moore on Saturday, July 6, at Resurrection Lutheran School in Aurora, IL. Mrs. Moore is the preschool director and teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Lake Mills. We pray the Lord's blessings as Mr. and Mrs. Moore begin their married life.

Open House for Sharon Yanggen

The Board of Regents of Lakeside Lutheran High School invites you to an Open House to celebrate Sharon Yanggen's 49 years of service to Lakeside's ministry. This event is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 1-4 pm, and it will be held in Lakeside's cafeteria. Members of the Lakeside Lutheran Federation are invited to attend.

Our Ministry at Trinity

Asleep in Jesus James Hunter passed away at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek on Saturday,

July 6. A Christian funeral was held on Tuesday, July 9 at Trinity. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord (Revelation 14:13).

Trinity Lunchtime Organ Recital The Trinity Lunchtime Organ Recital Series continues on Thursday, July 18 at

12:15 pm with a performance entitled Linda and Friends. Organist Linda Moeller welcomes trumpeters Dr. Patricia Backhaus and Erin Duwe, vocalist John Fricke, violinist Philip Warnecke and percussionist Brett Duwe for an exciting half hour of a wide variety of music. The recitals are free, and you are welcome to bring your lunch to enjoy while listening. We hope to see you there!

Summer Bible Study During the summer months two opportunities are available for spiritual growth

with fellow Christians from studying the Scriptures. The next evening Bible study, “Dealing with the Sins of Society: Suicide”, will be Tuesday, July 16 at 7 pm. A schedule of the Tuesday evening and Thursday morning Bible studies can be found in the Fireside Room.

Alpha Life Center Ice Cream Social Come for lunch and stay for dessert. The Alpha Life Resource Center will be

holding its annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, July 14 at St. Mark’s School Commons from 10 am to 1 pm. Enjoy turkey or pork sandwiches, hot dogs, potato salads, bean and other sides followed by homemade pies and tortes while supporting the vital ministry of Alpha Life Resource Center.

Blood Drive Update

At our recent drive on Thursday, June 27 we had fifty-two people register, of which forty seven were able to donate and four people donated dual red cells. A total of fifty-one units were donated. Thirty percent of our donors were members of Trinity and seventy percent were from other WELS churches and the community. Thanks so much to everyone who gave of their time and blood to save a life. Your one donation actually has the potential to save three lives. Thanks also to Clarice Schmidt, Rita Schulte and Dawn Winkelman for helping deliver posters to area businesses and/or manning the canteen. Your work and blood donations are vital for our ongoing commitment to help maintain an adequate blood supply to our community hospital. Mark your calendars: Our last drive for 2013 is Thursday, October 24 from 1-6 pm.

Pioneers

The Lutheran Boy Pioneers and Lutheran Girl Pioneers programs are a ministry of the church to nurture and encourage our youth while they learn new skills. Trinity boys and girls are encouraged to join with their friends at St. Luke’s for the Pioneer programs. We also need willing adults to share the skills you possess, or learn a new one. If you are interested in more information feel free to contact Kirsten Young at 390-2966.

Door Offering

On Wednesday, July 17 and Sunday, July 21 a door offering will be taken after services for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society Befriend a Mission Program. Trinity has been assigned three missions: St. John’s in Antigua, Cross of Life in Toronto, Canada and Missionary John Holtz in Malawi. The door offering will be sent to the missions to help them further the spread of the gospel.

ROC Rummage Sale

Check out the poster in the Fireside Room for dates, times and ways you can help this sale succeed to raising vital funds for the ROC.

TSL Work Morning The next of the summer work mornings will be held this coming Tuesday

morning, July 16, beginning at 8:00 am in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Western Avenue campus. There are a number of tasks to be completed including repairing books, sorting and assembling, and collating. Whether you can come for just an hour or the entire morning, any and all help is appreciated.

Rock River Area OWLS

The Rock River Area OWLS will have a picnic at noon on July 16th at the Hill Street pavilion (by the volleyball courts) at Riverside Park, Watertown. Meat and buns will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass and your own personal tableware and beverage. In case of inclement weather, the picnic will be moved to Heritage Homes.

Let’s get to know each other!

A photo booth can be found in the Fireside Room

starting on Sunday, July 14th.

We will continue to take photos after services every

Wednesday and Sunday through the month of August.

Each Trinity family is asked to stop by and get their

picture taken.

The photos will be mounted on a photo board that will

be located in the hall across from the church office.
