WELCOME GUIDEGuest Information and Map
As you walk around the zoo you might see people observing animals and entering data into iPads. They are using ZooMonitor, an app developed by Lincoln Park Zoo that enables users to record and analyze animal behavior. ZooMonitor supplies animal care experts and researchers important information about things like habitat use and social interaction, data we then use to better understand the internal well-being of an animal—its welfare—and provide the best possible care for each individual animal.
Lincoln Park Zoo has made ZooMonitor available for free to AZA-accredited and other qualifying institutions, and it currently is being used by wildlife organizations around the world. ZooMonitor is made possible through a grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
This is just one way zoo scientists study animals in our care and around the world! Learn more at lpzoo.org/conservation-science.
