The Schurmann Family are the first Brazilian(Santa Catarina state) family to circumnavigate the world on a sailboat and the

only Brazilian family to have done it twiceIn 1984 Vilfredo, Heloisa and their children left their home, their work and school and set off from Florianópolis, the capital city of the State of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, to pursue their dream: circumnavigate the world on a sailboat. Their children,

Pierre, David and Wilhelm, were 15, 10 and 7 years old, respectively. On this first adventure, the Schürmann Family

spent 10 years at sea. They sailed around the world and came in contact with exotic peoples and amazing cultures. Their

children grew up on board the yachIn 1997 the Schürmann Family began their second great adventure Magellan Global Adventure. The goal was to

retrace the route sailed by Ferdinand Magellan’s fleet, the first complete circumnavigation of the planet. For this adventure, apart from the parents only their son David Schurmann and

20 anos largou tudo que tinha em Santa Catarina para realizar um sonho: dar a volta ao mundo em um veleiro

Heloísa, Vilfredo e seus três filhos, Pierre, David e Wilhelm, se lançaram ao mar em abril de 1984. “Largar tudo e zarpar no veleiro de 40 metros quadrados, com nossos filhos pequenos, de 7, 10 e 15 anos, deixando para trás nossa família e amigos, foi o primeiro de muitos momentos marcantes em nossas vidas, nesses últimos 20 anos, pelos oceanos do mundo”, conta Heloísa. Eles deram a

volta ao mundo e retornaram ao Brasil 10 anos depois, em maio de 1994.

Gostaram tanto que, em novembro de 1997, começaram uma nova viagem. Deram uma nova volta ao mundo, desta vez

seguindo a rota feita por Fernão de Magalhães, o primeiro homem a circunavegar o planeta. Foram mais dois anos e meio no mar,

com a chegada em Porto Seguro, no dia em que eram comemorados os 500 anos do descobrimento do Brasil.

Aysso", que quer dizer "coragem" em Tupy Guarany, é maior, tem 50 pés e é de aço.

Filha adotiva Kat faleceu em 2006 aos 13 anos (era soropositiva desde seu

nascimento )
