Description of summative assessment

activityEvaluative criteria What the assessment is

designed to assess Feedback to students

A worksheet will be distributed to each student containing a two-paragraph letter with 25 various, grammatical errors that correlate directly to the lesson. (See attached)

After 3-5 minutes of individual group work, we will verbally go over the answers as a class in a guided discussion format. Students will do their individual work in one color/utensil and the group answers that were overlooked in another color.

Students will demonstrate their personal understanding of their commas, homophones and apostrophes. Using the different colors will demonstrate to the teachers what content still needs clarity.

Make sure to encourage the students that this is not a test, but something to show us teachers what we need to communicate better in regards to commas, apostrophes, and homophones.

5. Instructing and Engaging Students in Learning – What will happen in the lesson?5.5 – Describe the sequence of steps in the lesson in the following table. General lesson sequences may be more directive (e.g., ITIP) or open (constructivist). Whatever design is used, the lesson needs to be explicitly outlined.

5th Grade Formative Assessment

Dear Aunt Vanessa,

There is nothing like a great, fun school year with a lot of learning a great teacher and being by all of my friends. Lately it’s hard to focus since the sun has been out. I can hardly wait for school to be out for the summer. My friends and I love going to the beach from when the sun comes up to when it sets. The sunset is the most beautiful site I might have ever seen! Sunsets make the sky change its colors. I love seeing the pretty, blue sky transform into different shades of yellow, pink, orange (,) and red.

When my dad does not work on the weekends, we go to the beach with food to barbeque! On special, summery days like the Fourth of July, Dad will barbeque steak! After sunset it is too dark to be out alone. When my dad can go to beach, we make a bonfire! Before we leave for the beach, we look in my backyard for logs of would. Dad teaches me how to start a fire, but I just watch because the flames are extremely hot. Maybe this year, Dad will teach me how to build a fire! After all, I’m growing up!

Yours truly,(Your Name Here)
