Young

Ambassadors

Conference

Bryanston School

The Young Ambassador role will form a vital link between the students and adults in each school.

Young Ambassadors will be the foundation of the Leadership Programme and will support Level 3

School Games finals as Team Managers and supervisors. The Team Manager is the key point of

contact for the athletes throughout the School Games Finals and will be the liaison between the NGB

and the athlete. They will also assist in creating a performance environment and culture for athletes on

the day. Gold and Platinum Young Ambassadors will also be trained at the YA Conference to deliver

Primary Leadership Academies in each area of Dorset in order to train Bronze Ambassadors.

07/01/2014 Dorset Leadership

Academy Bryanston School

The Leadership Academy at Bryanston will provide high quality support and development for young

people who would like to be actively involved in volunteering and leadership within their school and/or

community. The Leadership Academy will focus on training volunteers in specific areas to become

School Games Makers for the School Games Level 3 Finals. Students will be invited to be trained in

the following roles – Young Team Managers, Photography Team, Film/Media Team, Radio Journalism

Team and the Big Dance Team. The Leadership Academy will also provide training for Sport Leaders

in Year 7 & 8 through the Sports Leaders UK Young Leader Award.

04/03/2014 Step Into Sport The Grange School

The purpose of these events is to further develop leadership skills for disabled and able bodied young

leaders wishing to work with disabled young people and inspire them to volunteer in sport. The aim is

to develop the communication and organisation skills of the young leaders to improve their ability to

lead in inclusive sport, whilst raising awareness of the opportunities available to them.

01/05/2014 Dorset Leadership

Academy Redlands

The Leadership Academy will focus on training sports leaders through NGB leadership qualifications.

The training provided on this day will equip these young volunteers with the tools they need to be able

to deliver Level 1 and Level 2 School Games competitions in their own schools and local areas. The

Leadership Academy will also incorporate the Level 3 Young Volunteers Training in a similar format to

the Bryanston Leadership Academy.

The Primary Leadership Academies will provide high quality support, training and development for

primary age pupils. The academies will train pupils in year 5 & 6 to become Bronze Young

Ambassadors and develop and grow young people as leaders and volunteers. Bronze Young

Ambassadors will operate in their own school as ambassadors and role models advocating PE and

school sport. They will be the young people’s voice on PE and school sport in their school and work to

increase participation and healthy active lifestyles. The Primary Leadership Academies will be

delivered by Platinum and Gold Young Ambassadors with support from the LCV School and School
