Sanctions Students not following the school dress code will receive counselling from staff members on the benefits of the dress code. Process 1. A warning to the student with a note sent home outlining the reason for the Dress Code Policy and reiterating sanctions that will be put in place. 2. A warning to the student with a note sent home advising that the next offence will result in sanctions as outlined in the first letter. 3. School Dress Code For Students

Kindergarten - Year 6

The aim in encouraging students to wear school uniform is to

promote a positive image of the school and to develop a sense

of pride and identity.

We believe that while students wear the school uniform and

colours that it should not suppress a child’s individuality and or

personal, cultural and religious beliefs.

Dress Code

Boys

Plain black shorts

Plain long black pants or track pants

Red Leda shirt or plain red T shirt with or without a collar

Red Leda windcheater/jacket or plain red windcheater/jacket

Clean safe shoes or sandals - No thongs, slip on shoes or surf

sandals

Hat for all year

Girls

Plain black skirt, shorts or skort - no bike pants or short shorts.

Plain long black pants or track pants

Red Leda shirt or plain red T shirt with or without a collar

Red Leda windcheater/jacket or plain red windcheater/jacket

Clean safe shoes or sandals - No thongs, slip on shoes, high heels

or surf sandals

• A hat is required ALL year.

• Blue denim jeans are not permitted.

• Year 6 students may wear the Leavers shirt.

Presentation

· For safety purposes, small studs and watches are

permitted. All other types of jewellery are discouraged.

Items often become lost or broken. No dangly ear-rings are

permitted.

· No make-up is permitted.

· Hair that can be tied back should be tied back at all times.

· For safety reasons, shoes must remain on at all times (K - 6)

· School uniform must be worn on all school excursions

Unsuitable Items

Thongs, slip on shoes and high heels are deemed unsafe

because of running games and boisterous play.

Clothing with messages, symbols and pictures are not

permitted.

Compliance

If students do not wear the school uniform, staff will encourage

them to wear school colours in a positive manner. Students not

in school uniform may be excluded from excursions and school

activities.

Exemptions

Exemptions from wearing the school uniform indefinitely need to

be sought from the principal. Short term exemptions can be

granted by a note to the teacher.

Consultation

This dress code has been developed by the School Council and

open for comment by staff and parents of Leda.
