The SCITT can award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • Exceed Teaching Schools Alliance, Bradford – led by Copthorne Primary School and Horton Grange Primary School. • Both “outstanding” schools, designated Teaching Schools and National Support Schools. • Alliance: A partnership of schools supporting each other to improve. No local authority role as in the past. • The Alliance has grown to include more schools, including Haworth, Lees and Oakworth Primary Schools. • Government policy: – schools to lead school improvement across partnerships of schools (Teaching Schools). – Teaching Schools and SCITTs to train the next generation of teachers. HEI/Universities are not the preferred training route anymore. – Current teachers and school leaders are the best people to train new teachers! • Exceed Teaching Schools Alliance, Bradford – successful School Direct programme for four years. • 2016: 24 trainees secured employment – 100% employment rate
