>> Arkansas and Auburn are currently in a deadlock in the all-time series, each holding onto 18 wins apiece. The Razorbacks scored better than the Tigers at SECs last season and in 2018, but ranked lower than Auburn at NCAA regionals in Baton Rouge (April 5, 2019)>> The Razorbacks will be looking for their first dual meet win against Auburn since 2018 when Arkansas defeated Auburn, 196.750 - 194.875 in Barnhill Arena.>> A win would be the first time since 2016 that the Razorbacks secured three wins against SEC opponents. It would also be the first time since 2016 that Arkansas won back-to-back home meets (No.23 Kentucky on Feb. 26 and Utah State on March 11).

Arkansas Running the FloorLed by head coach Jordyn Wieber and choreographed by assistant coach Catelyn Orel, the Razorbacks have made a statement on the floor. The week six polls show Arkansas ranked fifth on the floor, third among SEC teams. It is just the second time in Arkansas history that the Gymbacks were ranked in the Top 5 on the floor for three consecutive weeks, aside from weeks 3-5 in 2012.
All-Around Success - Week FiveArkansas is only one of two teams (Kentucky) in the SEC to have three gymnasts in the top 50 for all-around competition: Kennedy Hambrick (21), Kiara Gianfagna (45), Jessica Yamzon (49).
Gymbacks Moving Up on the Road to NationalsAfter a big loss at Florida in week one, Arkansas dropped out of the top 25 as ranked by Road to Na-tionals. The Gymbacks bounced back and rose to no.19 after their season-high 196.825 against Denver. They continued their success at Oklahoma and with another 196+ in the books, moved up to no.15 in the daily polls as of Jan.22.
More 9.9s Seen in Loss in NormanThe Gymbacks fell to No.1 Oklahoma in the Lloyd Noble Center, 198.175 – 196.550. Arkansas’ 196.550 is the highest score for the Razorbacks in Norman since 2009. Junior Sydney Laird earned a 9.900 on the bars for the second meet in a row. Junior Sophia Carter continued to anchor the Gymbacks on the floor with a 9.900 and redshirt-freshman Bailey Lovett earned the first 9.900 on the balance beam for Arkansas.
Records Falling In Home OpenerThe Gymbacks hit a season high all-around with a 197.350 - 196.825 loss to No. 3 Denver in front of a record crowd (6,714) in Barnhill Arena on Jan.17. The Gymbacks had 14 of 24 scored routines hit for 9.800 or better and redshirt freshman Bailey Lovett and junior Sophia Carter shared the floor title after posted back-to-back 9.950s to close out competition. Arkansas’ 196.825 is the highest team score in a home opener.
On the Home FrontArkansas will host five teams at Barnhill Arena over the course of the 2020 season, beginning with Denver on Friday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. The Gymbacks will also square off with Kentucky (Jan. 24), Georgia (Feb. 7), Auburn (Feb. 21) and Penn State (March 13) as part of their home slate.

Arkansas Eases Past Auburn For Second Win Of SeasonFebruary 9, 2018
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Five Razorbacks took seven event titles, including four on bars, as the 10th-ranked Arkansas gymnastics team eased past the 15th-ranked Auburn tigers 196.750-194.875 Friday night inside Barnhill Arena.
“It was a good meet,” said head coach Mark Cook. “Hailey Garner competed on vault for the first time in two years and looked strong. On Bars we were lights out. It was a good meet. We were a little bit tired on balance beam, but we finished strong on the floor. ”
The 1.875-point final margin was the widest in the 16-year series history against Auburn. Arkansas’ 196.750 was its second-highest score of the season and fifth-straight over 196.
First Rotation: Arkansas Vault: 48.975, Auburn Bars: 48.275Competing just five athletes on vault, Arkansas gained a seven-tenths advantage after the first rotation. Arkansas’ three anchors each got scores of 9.850 or higher with senior Braie Speed leading the way with a 9.875. Freshman Sarah Shaffer and senior Amanda Wellick recorded scores of 9.850.
“It felt really good to be back at home tonight,” said Wellick. “We started off on vault dialed in and kept the momentum going.”
Second Rotation: Arkansas Bars: 49.450, Auburn Vault: 48.775Four scores of 9.900 gave Arkansas a huge advantage through two rotations as the Razor-backs posted their second-highest bar score in program history. Shaffer began the high scoring with a 9.900 in the second spot, as fellow freshman Sydney Laird followed that up with a 9.850. Arkansas’ three anchors again posted high scores, this time as Wellick, Speed and sophomore Hailey Garner all scored a 9.900 to give the Razorbacks a 49.450 event score.
Third Rotation: Arkansas Beam: 49.050 , Auburn Floor: 48.900Wellick and sophomore Michaela Burton led the Razorbacks on beam with scores of 9.850 each. Sophomore Jessica Yamzon recorded a 9.825 to round out the top-three for Arkansas. The Razorbacks recovered from a single low score to post a 49.050 and extend its lead over the tigers to 1.525 points.
Fourth Rotation: Arkansas Floor: 49.275, Auburn Beam: 48.925The Razorbacks posted a 49.275 in the final rotation to take the team event title in all four events for the first time this season. Arkansas extended its lead even further in the final ro-tation led by Shaffer who posted her second 9.900 of the night. It’s the second-straight meet with a 9.900 on floor for Shaffer, and her second-consecutive meet recording two 9.900’s. Yamzon and Burton were just behind Shaffer with 9.875’s each.
“We’re feeling pretty confident,” said Wellick. “We know we’re a strong team this year. We’re excited. Tonight was a fun meet.”
Yamzon took her second all-around title of the season with a 39.225. Shaffer tallied a 38.775 with three scores over 9.850.

FIRST YEAR HEAD COACHJORDYN WIEBER
Olympic gold medalist Jordyn Wieber was introduced as the head coach of the Arkansas Women’s Gymnastics program on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, by Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek.
Wieber is a familiar name in the gymnastics community after a prolific career as a competitor, including earning a gold medal as part of Team USA in the 2012 Olympics. Since finishing her competitive career, Wieber has served as an assistant for legendary UCLA coach Valorie Kondos Field, helping lead the Bruins to the 2018 NCAA Championship. Beyond the gym, Wieber has served as an outspoken advocate for victims of child sexual abuse. Wieber has used the platform of gymnastics to encourage and inspire generations of young girls and others around the nation.
Wieber recently wrapped up her third season as a volunteer assistant coach at UCLA and her sixth with the program, assisting the team in a variety of roles during her first three years in Westwood following her Olympic career.
Wieber coached the Bruins on floor exercise, an event in which UCLA finished the 2018 and 2019 regular seasons ranked No. 1 in the nation. In 2019, the Bruins recorded scores of 49.5 or better in 11 of 14 meets, averaging a nation-al-best 49.604 on floor. UCLA hit a season-high 49.825 on March 16, which ranks No. 3 all-time in school history, behind five scores of 9.925 or better in that meet, including two perfect 10s. The floor squad also posted marks of 49.775 (March 23) and 49.750 (Feb. 16) over the course of the year, as four Bruins earned regular season All-America honors in the event – Katelyn Ohashi, Kyla Ross, Gracie Kramer and Felicia Hano.
At the NCAA Championships on April 19-20, Wieber coached Ross to the individ-ual floor title with a score of 9.950, the program’s second in as many years af-ter Ohashi took home the crown in 2018. After winning their semifinal session with a 197.650 (49.6125 in the floor), UCLA finished third overall in the finals.
The 2018 Bruins scored 49.4 or higher in 11 meets and 49.6 or higher in three meets, including a national season-high of 49.775 set Feb. 25. She and her fellow UCLA coaches were named the 2018 West Region Assistant Coaches of the Year, as they helped lead the Bruins to Pac-12, NCAA regional and NCAA national titles.
Wieber, who has been a vocal advocate for safe sport, has won several awards in the past year, including the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs, the Rising Star Award by the Los Angeles Business Journal, and the Giant Steps A Hero Among Us Award.
A member of the “Fierce Five” United States squad that won team gold at the 2012 Olympics, Wieber was a two-time U.S. allaround champion (2011 and 2012) and the 2011 World all-around champion. Her illustrious Elite Career included three medals (all-around and team gold, beam bronze) at the 2011 World Cham-pionships, four U.S. senior national titles (all-around, bars and floor in 2011 and all-around in 2012). She was also the 2008 U.S. junior all-around, vault and floor exercise champion and the American Cup all-around champion in 2009, 2011 and 2012. She dominated the competition at the 2010 Pacific Rim Cham-pionships, winning four gold medals (all-around, uneven bars, floor exercise, team) and one silver (vault). In her first international competition at the 2007 Junior Pan American Championships, she won gold medals on uneven bars and balance beam, silver in the all-around and bronze on floor exercise. Wieber officially retired from competitive gymnastics in 2015.
Wieber, from DeWitt, Mich., graduated from UCLA in 2017 with a degree in Psy-chology. She was a 2016 inductee into the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame and is also a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame as a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team.
