ALLA PRIMA PAINTING, 16+ YRSUrsula StockeEnjoy the freedom of Alla Prima painting! The focus of this two day workshop is to help students develop their own style using passionate and painterly brushstrokes. This wet-into-wet technique, working in either acrylics or oils, will help students demystify the process of painting. The instructor will demonstrate for the class and give one-on-one guidance. LEARN A CRAFT: SILVERSMITHING, 18+ YRSDonna HarrisYou will start by creating a beautiful bracelet from sterling silver wire. It will be bent to fit, soldered and a stone of choice will be added to enhance the bracelet. The design is very simple but extremely attractive and wearable. The second piece you create will be a ring, sized to fit your finger (or a friend’s) and enhanced with a stone to match your bracelet. If we have time, you will make another project of choice. THE PRINTED IMAGE, 18 YRS+Barbara De Pirro Learn the basics of creating monotype and relief printed images. Both methods create unique results; the pressure of printing creates texture and pattern not possible when painting directly on paper. Learn how to paint and “fuse” layers with heat, add mixed media, color and even collage! The instructor will start the class with an extensive demonstration of basic techniques. You will have plenty of time to make encaustic “technique tiles” on small pieces of masonite board. Each week we will practice new photographic techniques, take more pictures over the week, then review and compare notes. Emphasis will be on fun and creativity. Learn how to sell your art in galleries, art shows, gift stores, wholesale, publications, online and more. You will also learn about running your art passion as a business: taxes, marketing, promotion, packaging, selling techniques, pricing and much more. You will also get the chance to have your art reviewed and critiqued by the class and the instructor. This class will motivate you to follow your dreams, create a list of goals and sell your art! ART WITHOUT THE BRUSH (SPRING BREAK CAMP), 7-9 YRSAlicia HarveyPerfect as a spring break art workshop! With each lesson, your child will be introduced to an art reproduction, followed by a fun activity which practices one of the basic elements of art and composition, but with a twist. Art Educator Workshop PRINTMAKING TECHNIQUES FOR THE CLASSROOMAnn MorganThe Schack Art Center continues to collaborate with the Everett School District to provide Art Technique Classes. This class is designed to familiarize teachers with a wide variety of printmaking techniques for the K-8 classroom. The first three sessions will include non-press techniques such as eraser prints, Styrofoam printing, linoleum block printing, string prints, “rubber” stamps, silk screen and more. The last session will cover printmaking processes utilizing a press. Cost: $70 ($60 + $10 processing fee) covers instructor, facility, supplies, and instructional materials.
