On behalf of the Singapore Cricket Club, I am delighted to firstly, welcome all the teams, players, officials and supporters to our 4th Singapore Cricket Club Soccer Sixes Tournament 2012 and also to the Charity Youth Tournament being held on Saturday, 30th June and Sun-day, 1st July 2012 at the Padang. At the same time, let me welcome all the foreign teams and their players, officials and supporters to Singapore and enjoy all that this island republic has to offer to our visitors.

This 4th Singapore Cricket Club Soccer Sixes Tournament 2012 and the Charity Youth Tour-nament are of added interest and significance to the Club and the members, as these two Tournaments are being held during the Club's 160th Anniversary Celebrations. I welcome all to join us in celebrating our 160th Anniversary.

I urge all players, officials and supporters to fully partake in the excitement and competitive-ness created by the Soccer Sixes and the Charity Youth Tournaments.

Singapore Cricket Club, being a premier sports club, supports and promotes various forms of sports and charitable activities in Singapore. The SCC Soccer Sixes Tournament helps not

only to develop and improve soccer in Singapore but, just as importantly, in the region as a whole. Participation in the SCC Soccer Sixes Tournament is looked forward to annually by teams in the region and they showcase their top soccer talents in this Tournament.

This year the Soccer Sixes Tournament has attracted teams from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore, while the Charity Youth tournament has teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Singapore. This is a great opportunity for the players and officials to form long lasting friendship and togetherness.

The Charity Youth Tournament is Singapore Cricket Club's way of encouraging and supporting charitable organisa-tions in Singapore and the region. I urge all members, participants and spectators to join in and support this worthy cause.

The SCC Soccer Sixes Organising Committee, as always, has done an outstanding job in organising this year's Tourna-ment. With the experience of the past three SCC Soccer Sixes and the previous Soccer Seven Tournaments, the Orga-nising Committee has put in tremendous efforts and dedication and I would like to, on behalf of the Club, express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for a job well done in making this Tournament a success.

Let me also say "Thank you" to all our sponsors, advertisers and well-wishers for their continued support and encour-agement, which is vitally necessary for the success of this Tournament and hope their continued support in the future.

I wish to urge all members, participating teams and spectators to join in the fun and soak up the atmosphere and excitement of the SCC Soccer Sixes and the Charity Youth Tournament on Saturday 30th June and 1st July 2012 at the Padang.

It is with great pleasure that i extent a warm welcome to the teams, officials and friends to the 4th SCC Annual Soccer Sixes.

The aim of this competition is to highlight the many young talents of Asian soccer. Unlike the traditional sevens tournament, the sixes is designed to feature fast flowing, high scoring and shorter games, thus creating end to end action.

Apart from the main competition, we will also be hosting for the 3rd time a mini soccer com-petition for 80 orphanage children from around the region. My sincere appreciation goes out to the many members who have kindly volunteered to house these children for the entire weekend, Thank You!

SCC being a premier sports club is committed to develop and promote soccer in Singapore and around the region.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors, advertisers and supporters who have generously contributed towards the tournament.

Gratitude also goes out to the chairman and his organizing committee, sports, marketing & communication depart-ment and the groundsmen for their hard work and dedication in putting this tournament together, Thank You!

Wishing all the players and spectators a fun filled and an enjoyable weekend. May the best team win!

MessagesWelcomeOn behalf of the Football Associ-ation of Singapore, I am pleased to welcome all participating teams and spectators alike to the fourth edition of the Singa-pore Cricket Club Soccer 6’s. Like the previous editions, this year’s SCC Soccer 6’s will be held at the historical Padang.

Last year, Chonburi FC of Thai-land’s Premier League clinched the title in the Open Category after they overcame a well-disciplined TWS Pegasus of Hong Kong in an exciting final.

This year, fans will enjoy two days of pulsating action on the pitch as top Asian clubs from Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore will be pitted against each other for the coveted title. Apart from the Open category, there will be three other categories in this year’s edition, namely the Charity Kids Event, Masters and Legends Tournament. With 40 teams participating in the four categories, I am sure it will be an exciting tournament with lots of thrilling football action which will deliver a quality experience for the fans.

I am also heartened to note that the Singapore Cricket Club has always been committed to giving back to the community through football, and I appreciate the organizer’s continued commitment towards the chari-table aspect of the tournament. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to the various charitable institutions from our neighboring countries.

Finally, I would like to thank the Singapore Cricket Club for organizing this charity football event. I also wish all participating teams the best of luck and I believe every-one will have an enjoyable time at the Padang.

ANOTHER season of footballing extravaganza on the Padang and the Singapore Cricket Club continues to be an extraordinary sporting landmark to offer Sin-gaporeans the best of the social ball-game.It gives me immense pleasure, to pen my message as the Organis-ing Chairman. Having enjoyed the pleasures (and pressures!) of success in previous tournaments, may we extent a very warm welcome to all the participat-ing teams for the 4th Singapore

Singapore Young LionS

Singapore's U23 squad is made solely of full-time pros competing in the S-League. They will surely be the fittest, quickest, best organised and technically drilled team in the com-petition this year. Winners of the SCC Soccer 6s in 2008 and Runners-Up in 2009, the Young Lions know what it's like to take home silverware from The Padang!

admiraLtY FC

This might be an NFL club but they are packed with former S-League stars. Admiralty boast a potent blend of pace, youth, experience and guile. This team is unbeaten in 9 NFL Divi-sion 2 games this season and has conceded exactly ZERO goals in all 9 fixtures. Who would bet against that defence holding firm in this year's SCC Soccer 6s?

Singapore CriCket CLub nFL

SCC's own NFL currently has the best winning record in NFL Division 1 this season. In January, they were crowned Champions at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club's soccer 7s. They are a young team with a bright future. Will it be their stars that shine at the SCC Soccer 6s?

Raymond "Ray" Parlour (born 7 March 1973 in Barking, London, UK), is an ex-English footballer. He spent his career playing for Arsenal, Middlesbrough and Hull City. During his Arsenal career he was nicknamed "The Romford Pelé; although the nickname was given with an ironic sense of humour, on account of his solid performance but unglamorous image. He has been described as an "unsung hero" and praised as a "fans' favourite" for his high-energy performances. He is now a pundit on television, as well as on radio stations BBC Radio 5 Live and Talksport.

FootBALL CAREERARsENALParlour is most famous for his time at Arsenal, where he played for 14 years. He joined Arsenal as a trainee in 1989, and made his debut for the Gunners against Liverpool on January 29, 1992 . He did, however, make 12 appearances for the England U21 team during this time and has also represented England as a full International. It is an honour to have Ray as our guest at the Soccer Sixes and we extend him a very warm welcome to Singapore.

Inspired by the late Henrik Lorenz, an old and dear friend of SCC who founded the Youth Football Home in Phuket, the first team to take part in the SCC Soccer 6s youth tournament, the club has expanded it’s tournament to include 8 teams from various countries with all the children coming from underpriveleged backgrounds. This year sees the return of teams from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Bali, Phuket, Malaysia and Singapore plus for the first time a team from Palembang, Indonesia.

Many of these children have never travelled beyond their own villages let alone abroad so it will indeed be the experience of a lifetime.

The Organising Committee extends its sincere thanks to the the General Committee of the Club, the Soccer section members and the tournament sponsors plus the families of club members and friends who will be looking after the children during the weekend for their generosity without which none of this would be possible.

Bali Sports Foundation (Indonesia) http://www.balisports.com

Develop new and valued skills•Form friendships, receive and give peer support, and enhance their social networks•Receive mentoring support from trusted adults, who can serve as youth advocates•Take advantage of new learning and educational opportunities.•High level training through volunteer coaches and mentors•Up to high school education through our Jv with DHIF•Experiences in religious tolerance and understanding through bringing promising athletes to our central sports •center in kuta, BaliTrain the trainers program for the sports centres•Identify promising talent and provide them with life skills•

Youth Football Home (Phuket) Foundation - 2 teams http://home.exetel.com.au/katjahouse/Thailand_html/index.html

Our aim is to establish a loving home for orphaned and destitute boys. The boys receive comprehensive education at good local schools. They also enjoy daily coaching and training from fully qualified coaches in the game of football.

The Youth Football Home is built on 8 rai of land in the town of Thalang (about 150 metres from Wat Muang komaraphat) on Phuket Island consisting of a dormitory home for 32 boys, a residential building for staff and a full size football field plus training areas.

Construction began in October 2005. The dormitory and staff house were built and furnished by the beginning of May, 2006. The football field and the training areas were formed 4 months later.

The first group of 9 boys from Bangkok and the northern provinces arrived at our Home on the 11th of May, 2006, and were enrolled at the Thalangwittaya School in time to attend the first day of the new school year. Today we have an almost full house with many of the boys selected from football camps held on our grounds.

Hevea MK FC Palembang, Indonesia

As part of it’s CSR initiative Halcyon Agri Corporation Pte Ltd has selected and sponsored 10 children to represent the tiny kampung that houses the workers and families of its rubber processing units in Palembang.

For these children, who rarely leave their own kampong, let alone their own country this will truly be an experience of a lifetime.

Muhammadiyah Association (Singapore) http://mwh.muhammadiyah.org.sg

MWH is a government gazette children home since Dec 1989. We take care of boys who are between the age of 9 to 18 years old. These children come from broken homes and have issues with their family and caregivers. They are being referred to the Home by the Juvenile and Family Court, the Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports (MCYS) , the Police or the general public. The period of stay ranges from a few months to a few years, depending on the court order and the availability of a fit person.

The Home is managed by a dedicated team of full time staff, guided by the Management Committee who is appointed by the Muhammadiyah Association. The Home operates on 24/7. The children attend school, go back on homeleave to their parents/next-of-kin and attend programmes conducted by the Home. This is part of the Home’s rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for the children.

Our vision- A model rehabilitation institution, an active agent of change towards positive moral values.

Our Mission- To guide, nurture and empower youth-at-risk towards becoming a responsible and contributing member of their family, the community and country.

Rumah Faith (Faith Home) Malaysia http://www.daj.org.my

Home for Orphans and Underprivileged children was started in 1985 in kajang by Rev. & Mrs. Terrence & kamala Sinnadurai with two children and a budget of RM800/=pm (USD267.00).

Today Rumah Faith which is also known by its registered name Desa Amal Jireh (Jireh Charity village) is occupying a 4.2 Acre piece of land in Sememhiy, Selangor. The Home which is now taking care of 120 children and 15 destitute Senior Citizens operates their own Home School with 30 children. Their monthly budget is RM100,000/=pm (USD33,000pm).

The Home plans to buy a 1 acre piece of land next to her present property to build a Sports and Skill Centre, which will have a Soccer field, a Futsal court, Badminton and Basketball & Netball Courts. It will also have a Motor Mechanic Workshop to teach our children mechanical skills and repair vehicles in the community.

Street Children’s Partners (Bangladesh) http://www.sccsoccersixes.com/teams_charity_Street_Childrens_Partners.html

A New Chance For Dhaka street Children…….

Street Children’s Partners, a NGO, since 2001 to take care of Bangladesh’s street kids by opening a shelter offering education, medical assistance and job training, thus giving them hope for a brighter future.

A total of 50 children, aged 5-16, live at the shelter permanently with 140 others coming from nearby slums.

The SCC is excited that they are able to send a team for the youth tournament and we ask all to welcome their team with open arms.

Phnom Penh Crown Club (Cambodia) http://www.sccsoccersixes.com/teams_charity_PhnomPenh_Crown_FC.html

The PPCFC Academy was set up by the President of the Club, Mr. Rithy Samnang, who decided to set up this academy to try and help develop football in Cambodia and to give the kids an opportunity to develop their potential.

The players were selected from all over Cambodia and now live in Phnom Penh, including some kids from orphanages throughout the country. The kids now live in Phnom Penh, in a purpose built building which includes a dormitory, study room, recreation room and dining room. The kids now go to a private school and train 6 days per under

AFC accredited coaches. They are looked after by three “house mothers” who cook and clean for the kids.

None of the kids have been outside Cambodia before, many of them had never been to Phnom Penh (the Capital city of Cambodia) before. So flying to Singapore will be a huge experience for them.

The President is looking to recruit a new batch of U13 kids every second year with the view to the Academy kids becoming the future players for PPCFC. So in 6 years time we will hopefully have U13’s, U15, U17’s and U19’s.

Not only does this give the talented kids in Cambodia the opportunity to reach their potential, it also is giving them the opportunity to a good education (and three meals a day), something many of them were not getting out in the provinces.

The Section had an outstanding year in 2011/12 winning the Cosmopolitan League and Cup once again, Espzen League Champions, and winning the Interports against HkFC and YCAC. The year also saw the birth of the Saturday veterans side the SCC Strollers who have joined the Equatorial Foot-ball League Division 1 under the leadership of Matt Field. The upgrading of the facilities at Dempsey Road has been well received by the Section, and it is now recognised as a top class facility when it does not rain and we had our fair share towards the end of the year with numerous fixtures having to be postponed because of the elements. The First team is now very strong and competitive as it should be and the Lions are consolidating their position with some new players to bolster their squad. Pads and Thirds had a great season and no sig-nificant issues there other than the fact these two teams have large squads which has been addressed by the establishment of the Tigers and Strollers to ensure everyone gets a game and the weekend football has been very well received by our Members. The Youth Academy run by Owen Monaghan is up and running and we are training and coaching the younger ones in the hope they become our stars for the future. I want to thank Owen Monaghan for running the First team and for all the energy he puts into the job week after week, ably as-sisted by his Management team which consists of Steve Rog-ers, David Alonso, Adam Bowden and Scott Starr. Owen and Steve have done a fantastic job and have been responsible for the recruitment of several quality players to the SCC. Terk and Tony Moore run a spirited Lions team and the work put in by Alex khan running the Pads each week is commended and Alex will carry the baton and lead the Pads to even more glory in the future. Aziz made sure our Thirds were running smoothly and they do like their football and after match cel-ebrations on a Wednesday night. Ravi and Brian Lavelle made sure we had opposition each week and deserve our thanks. Thanks to everyone involved in running the football teams at the SCC and special thanks to the Sports Department who do a superb job in organising our facilities every week.

Adam managed our Sevens team to Hk to participate in the Hk Sevens and we did very well against very strong opposi-tion, including Sunderland and Glasgow Rangers. Our very own Soccer Sixes went off well in last June and having Andy Cole as our guest for the event was a big plus and we intend to build on that this year for the upcoming tournament. Owen and Ravi have the plans in motion for this and we look forward to the whole section getting behind the tournament and to bringing you quality teams to watch.

The NFL team had a season of consolidation and we will be looking to strengthen the squad this year. Dirk Paulsen spon-sors this team and the Section in general and we are forever grateful for his support. The hard work put in by Len Beschiz-za in the early years has borne fruit and we are now one of the top amateur sides in Singapore. You can’t beat that and this applies to both the NFL and First Team who are the envy of many because of their quality and commitment. All the other SCC teams are not far behind and need to go that extra mile to achieve greatness. Ask Owen, Steve and Matt how to do it and success is there for the taking.

On the playing front, our First Team won the Cosmopolitan

Soccer League and Cup (the double) again (three years in a row) which is a significant accomplishment and we are with-out question the team everyone wants to beat. In fact, since the Cosmo team was brought in-house and the structure was aligned to the Club in 2000, we have won the league six times and finished second on four other occasions and we have won the Cosmopolitan Cup six times. We have assembled a very talented squad that play attractive football and the training disciplines are kicking in. SCC are without doubt one of the hardest teams to play against in the league and most of the other teams view this as their biggest match of the season. Congratulations to the Team who play each Saturday down at Dempsey Road. We have won the Cosmopolitan League title again and Owen Monaghan is back as the Manager and has assembled a very talented squad and the team beat the British Casuals 3-1 to retain the Cosmopolitan Cup and do the double. We also won the Windmill Cup beating the British Hotspurs in the Final last August.

We participated in the annual Henrik Lorenz Memorial game in Phuket against HkFC and lost the match by 3-1 and were somewhat unlucky. Well done to all the squad who made it down to Phuket. Worth remembering the work done by the SCC at the Phuket orphanage (brainchild of the late great Henrik) and we will continue this every year and also bring kids from the orphanage to participate in our SCC Sixes tour-nament. We will try to win the trophy back next year and Alex khan can start the ball rolling now to ensure we have a com-petitive squad.

Just wanted to thank the Section Committee for their support this year and to all the staff at the SCC who do all the work to allow us to play and special thanks indeed to Steve Rogers, Owen and Richard Pugh who does so much work behind the scenes to help me.
