You can use FBA Repricer two ways: 1) page-by-page or item-by-item repricings; or 2) an automatic full

inventory repricing. After you login, you will see a screen that looks like this:

1. Click “Synch FBA Inventory” first. This will bring up your database of sellable items (i.e. ones for which there are

units available at Amazon’s warehouse). It may take a few seconds to populate your page.

2. The “Reprice” button will reprice items on this page. If you are conducting a “page-by-page” repricing, simply click

the “Reprice” button at the top of each page. We will talk about “Reprice All” in a minute.

3. “Send Price Feed” will send your changes/price updates on this page to Amazon after which it will take a few

seconds before they are “live.”

4. You will find your “Reprice All” report under “Reports”

5. “Settings” is where you can change the rules for your repricing.

6. If you like the price change you see, click on “Accept” and those particular changes will be sent to Amazon when

you click “Send Price Feed.” If you click “Accept” at the very top of the column, it will select all the items. Otherwise,

you can choose one-by-one.

You can also search for individual items to reprice by name, MSKU or ASIN in the blank box at the top.

Go ahead and click on “Synch FBA Inventory,” if you’ve not already. I’m going to click “Reprice” so you can see what

happens when you reprice page-by-page. Remember, page-by-page repricing is not counted against your 10 tokens per

month.

1. Here you see the new price. In this case, FBA Repricer thinks my price is too low and has given me a new, higher

price.

2. I can see at a glance that there are six FBA offers (including mine) for this novel.

3. The ones with “$0” appear that way because they were not repriced – not because the value is $0.

4. You can see some notes here. Due to the rules in my “Settings,” repricing on this item was aborted. By looking at

the next square you can see that there are more than 10 offers and that my price is not in the lowest 10 prices.

5. When I’m done repricing, I choose the ones I want to change and then…

6. Click on “Send Price Feed” to send my changes to Amazon.

7. All the headings are clickable which means you can sort your database by MSKU, rank, price, etc. I often search by

price to reprice my highest dollar-value items or by MSKU to look at my oldest or newest inventory.

Before you reprice the first time, you’ll want to check your settings and make sure they are what you want. Click on

“Settings” in the upper right-hand corner (see previous screen):

FBA Repricer starts with some default settings which you may want to keep and see how they work with your inventory.

These are my settings, but be aware that I change settings depending on what categories I’m focused on, etc. With the

new fees, I changed some of my defaults as well. My goal in sharing these settings is to help you understand them so you

can adjust them to suit your inventory and pricing rules. Be sure to keep it simple and don’t use settings you don’t need.

1. This row is where you can choose what part of your inventory you want to reprice.

2. FBA Repricer will also reprice your merchant-fulfilled inventory items. I only sell FBA so I don’t have any.

3. “Show Execution Order” shows you the order in which the rules are applied.

4. “Only Show My Selected Rules” means you can make invisible those rules you don’t use.

5. Your tokens will likely be “10” since that is the default. I have special dispensation this month because the Scan

Power guys knew I’d be using it a lot more than usual this month to write this guide.

6. If you want to reprice your complete inventory, click “All.” You can also do as I did here and select particular

categories to reprice. If you don’t see a particular category here that you want, contact the Scan Power guys and

let them know. They are continuously updating their software.

7. This allows me to reprice in the middle of the pack rather than the very lowest (helps me avoid that “race to the

bottom”). You can choose whatever number you like here.

8. I do not suggest you click this since the very lowest price could be a loss. You don’t want to assume your

competition is pricing their products smartly.

You can also create some percentage rules for yourself. I consider this “Repricing 202” and suggest you get familiar with

the product first and then experiment.

If you click on “Show Execution Order” at the top and “Preview Rule Application” under “Condition,” you will be able to test

your settings and see if they work for you. This is a good way to learn how the settings affect your inventory.

1. Oops! My #1 got cut out of this screenshot somehow. Look at the arrow on the far left. While there are occasional

exceptions, most of the time you do not want to compete against Amazon!

2. Seems obvious, but not all repricers are as sophisticated as FBA Repricer. I usually keep this checked.

3. This is a rule you will set for yourself. You may want to experiment (as I am) to find out which price point causes

people to buy without leaving money on the table.

4. I’m often surprised when I find used FBA offers selling at higher prices than new. At least you won’t make that

mistake with this setting! You can also choose to be alerted if prices fall too much. How much is too much? You

decide. I tend to have different prices here depending on category.

5. I keep this checked most of the time. You don’t want to price your new items against others’ “used” items.

6. You can decide about this for yourself. Generally, new sellers tend to price their products too low and I’d rather not

compete against them.

7. There are pros and cons to checking this box. On the one hand, I’m competing against my peers (pro), on the other

they may be significantly overpriced in relationship to the merchant sellers (con). I didn’t click “match lowest FBA,”

but if you choose to do this what will happen is you will MATCH their price, not undercut it. I recommend this over

undercutting as it keeps a “race to the bottom” price war from starting.

8. If I’m the only FBA seller, I can price at a premium and still make the sale.

9. These other boxes tell FBA Repricer how much of a premium I want. This is “FBA Repricer 202” and you may want

to wait until you are more familiar with the product before setting up your rules here. Or, this can be part of your

review with the Scan Power guys.

10. Again, this is if you want to compete on price and your inventory is new (or there are no “new” offers).

11. This box is important. With Amazon’s new fees, I know I lose money if I sell a book or most other items for less

than $3.75 so I set this rule and wait.

1. Also in the “Books” box I can choose to have certain items set aside by the program for manual repricing. If

there are three booksellers for less than $4, for example, I probably want to look at it and decide for myself.

2. Media has a different price structure and weight. Below $2.99 I lose money.

3. This is for your customers who prefer to see “normal-looking” prices rather than the weird ones that can occur

with repricing programs like “$4.61.” What it does is either round down or round up to the nearest “$.95” or

“$.99.” You choose whether it is the “nearest” price like that (which means it can go down as well as up) or if it is

rounded up only. It is a pricing strategy that works for a certain segment of buyers.

4. In this case, you are betting that customers would prefer to buy from someone with a good rating (you) and that

rating will make a difference in their purchasing decision. Your prices don’t adjust to theirs. You may choose to

experiment with this later.

5. I choose this because items with such a low rank are generally moving so darn fast that I don’t really care what

the others are selling their books for and I don’t want to reprice against the silly sellers. For example, I sell many

“Harry Potter” books and I’m never the lowest price seller – often not even in the top 5 or 10. Why? Because

they sell like crazy. Those low-ball sellers will sell out and then I’ll be the lowest at $8 (or whatever I’m

charging). It might take a week or two to sell instead of a day or two, which is fine by me. I’m thinking about

changing my threshold to 10,000 from 1,000 to see what that does for me.

6. For “long tail” items which I’ve made 1.3 million in this case (usually it is over 2 million), I don’t want to reprice

very often. They don’t sell frequently and I’ve already factored that into my price when I sent it to Amazon.

Lowering the price will not make it sell faster, just cheaper when it does sell.

7. The other items in this box are definitely “FBA Repricer 202” items. As time goes by, you may identify certain

sellers with whom you do NOT want to compete. Maybe they are consistent low-ballers or always have a poor

rating or whatever. You can get their Seller ID# (NOT their names) and put it in here to make sure they are

NEVER included in a repricing event. Scroll down this page: http://www.scanpower.com/fbapower/fba-repricer/rules/

to see how to find a seller ID on Amazon.com. In addition, you may have specific MSKUs or products you don’t

want to re-price. You can put them here. For example, if you don’t want to reprice newer items (say from

February) and your MSKUs for February all start with “FEB 2012” you can choose to exclude all of those for this

repricing.

Save your settings and go back to the main page now to use them to manually reprice your inventory, page-by-page or

click the “Reprice All” box and the “Reprice” button to reprice your entire inventory. This may take as long as 2-3 hours

before the report is ready for you. While we wait, let’s look at an occasional glitch that might freak you out the first time:

Poor piglet! Can you imagine that I priced him for only 25 cents? Me either! Sometimes Amazon’s data doesn’t pull

perfectly with new items in your database (new since the last repricing). Don’t be alarmed, there’s an easy way to fix this.

Simply check “reprice” at the top of the page and the prices will fix themselves.

Another way to check what your real price is – Click on the price and a new screen will pop up with all the data you get

from FBA Scout (see next page). You’ll want to click on the price anyway to determine if you want to reprice.

That’s better! I happen to know that I listed for $25 and have six units. A friend of mine is selling for $24.99 – how

dare she get more units than me! She must have found a better source. Notice how FBA Repricer gives you the

net payout (with new fees calculated in) as well as the number of units each seller has. If I wanted to look at Piglet

on Amazon’s site, I can click his picture or name from either screen. That’s how I knew my friend is selling for

$24.99. I recognized her seller name.

Success! This is the notice you get when your database has been repriced with the “Reprice All” function. Let’s

look at this report next. Click on “Reports” in the upper right-hand side of the screen:

The bottom report is your synch. We won’t use that. You want the “Bulk Reprice” one. Click on the file and either

save it, or choose to open it with Microsoft Excel.

This is what the data looks like in Excel. I’m going to sort it so I can better see what’s going on. Highlight the data

and then choose a “custom sort” from the “Sort and Filter” icon on the upper-right of the home page.

From this screen, you will need to “Add level” until you have three levels. Use the drop-down menus to choose

these settings. Be sure to check “My data has headers” as well.

Now that the data is sorted, you need to make the columns wide enough so you can read it. Highlight your data

again. Select “AutoFit Column Width” from the “Format” icon on the “Home” page of Excel.

Since we chose to alphabetize the “status,” all the “aborts” come up first. These items were not repriced because of

our rules. You can see that some weren’t repriced because they were toys or because they were not among the 10

lowest FBA offers, and so on. The “new prices” will all be $0 for this reason.

Highlight all the aborts (all the way across the row) and delete them. Be sure to keep the column headers on Row

1. The next group of items you will see are the “Audits.” Audits ARE repriced, but they are called to your attention

for various reasons based on your rules:

Most of the items are ok and I’ll leave them as they are. By scanning this list, I immediately see some items that I

want to look at more closely. I’m wondering why a $12 product is suddenly $6.86. This will definitely hurt my margin

and may drop it to below my cost. I can copy the MSKU or ASIN# from this spreadsheet and paste it into the

search box on FBA Repricer for a closer look. I may go back to my notes and/or receipts to figure out how much I

paid in the first place as well.

Another oddity is a $4 product that is suddenly worth $34.01? Sounds too good to be true. Same with the book

suddenly worth $20.57. This can happen when an FBA seller comes in with a ridiculously high price. If all the

merchant sellers are selling this book for 1 penny, why should anyone buy it from me for $20? That’s a bit too rich.

If I decide to keep these new prices, nothing needs to change. If I investigate and decide to change them, I can do

it here or on my FBA Repricer home page. Since I’m planning to upload this report to Amazon, and since I

anticipate more than a few changes, I will change it in the spreadsheet.

After “Audits,” is “NoChange.” You can delete those from the spreadsheet, just like the “Aborts.” I had 294

“NoChange” items out of a database of over 2,000 items.

The next condition is “RepriceHigher.” Again, I’m going to look for outliers. Most changes are only a few cents or a

dollar or so and I’ll leave those. I had 242 “RepriceHigher.”

“RepriceLower” tends to be the bulk of the changes. I had 502 of those. Some of them are quite staggering and I’ll

definitely investigate closer.

Once you have checked your exceptions, it is time to upload the changes to Amazon.

1. Delete all the rows that aren’t changing.

2. Remove all the columns that are unnecessary (you only need the “SKU” and “Price” columns).

3. Put your columns in the correct order of “SKU” and “Price.”

4. Save the file as a TEXT (“.txt”), file on your computer.

5. Log in to SellerCentral.

6. Select “Upload Products & Inventory” from the “Inventory” tab (see picture below)

7. Select “Price & Quantity File” from the drop-down menu

You will get a message when your file has uploaded successfully. The new prices should appear on Amazon.com within

five minutes (usually it is under one minute).

The first time takes the longest; subsequent repricings should be faster. Be sure to synchronize the database in FBA

Repricer before you attempt a reprice, or your data may be old. If you synched in the morning and are repricing in the

evening, that should be fine, things won’t change too much in a few hours. If it were the next day, I’d synch again.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully updated your prices using FBA Repricer!
