Members of the O’Fallon andBelleville Wards of the Church of LatterDay Saints came to SAVE September 13and cleaned and painted two housesand the pavilion at Turkey Hill.

Another crew painted bright colorson the walls of classrooms and the cafe-teria at SAVE North creating a morecheerful atmosphere for the consumerswho spend their days there.

When the work was finished, thegroup gathered for a fried chicken and Mostaccioli lunch with the men and women who live at Turkey Hill. Thanks toOlympic Restaurant for donating the chicken and cooking the pasta.

Movie Night!

Twenty-nine residents of TurkeyHill, four staff and three other vol-unteers filled the Bistro Theatre atThe EDGE courtesy of a Friend of SAVE.

Settled back in comfy chairs with a drink and pop-corn, the crowd saw Let’s Be Cops starring JakeJohnson, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Nina Dobrev.

Judging by the laughter and applause coming fromthe theater, this buddy-cop movie (except that theyaren’t cops) was hilariously funny. Many thanks for areally fun night!

Easy Ways to Help!SAVE Board Profile

Meet Anne Fohne KeeleyAnne Keeley is an attorney and mother of two

girls, who joined the SAVE Board in January,2012. She first learned about SAVE in the late1970s when she met her husband, Geno, whosesister lives and works at Turkey Hill.

Anne has brought a passion for helpingSAVE’s consumers to her position on the Board.Over the past year, she spearheaded the effort toclear out eight of the houses that were dilapidat-ed and past the point of repair. With the help ofGeno and Keeley & Sons Construction, Anne

organized a crew to demolish the houses and clear away the rubble and foun-dations. The result is an open, grassy space that is much more welcoming forresidents and visitors alike.

“My goal now,” Anne said, “is to clean up and landscape the front of each ofthe remaining houses. Our consumers are so warm and inviting to everyone. Ithink their homes should be as nice on the outside as the people who live inthem are on the inside.” Anne is hoping to find landscape companies, church-es, businesses or other organizations that are willing to “adopt a house” anddonate low maintenance plants, shrubs and other materials. She’d also like tosee some ambient lighting in that area that would make it easier for the resi-dents to get around in the evenings. Anyone interested in helping? You canleave a message for Anne at 618-234-1992.
