No, it’s not a bunny ... but there will be an egg hunt. The Australia-based Madd Gear professional scooter team is in the midst of an East Coast tour and is coming here this week- end. “This is like having the X Games coming in a miniature version,” said Mike Anastasio, owner of Vineland skateboard and scooter shop Shredder’s Revenge. The city officially opened the new Landis Park loca- tion — pulled together from obstacles at a former YMCA site — late last month. Though the site is strug- gling through a lack of volunteer supervision, this weekend should make up for the recent troubles. Anastasio hooked up with Madd Gear after applying for a dealership agreement with the company. They in turn contacted him and he explained the proximity to an all-new park. “Would you mind if we came by a did a demo?” Anastasio said they asked. Absolutely not, he responded. There will be 36 tickets hidden about the park for kids in the crowd to get prizes, one of which being a complete scooter. “They’re pulling out all the stops,” he said of the company, which does worldwide tours and is pushing through an East Coast one. Holding the demo on Easter Sunday wasn’t intentional, Anastasio explains, but there was an open date that worked which was later discovered to be the holiday. “Basically, we ran with it and turned it into an egg hunt,” he said. So, for parents who will likely have their scootering children in tow that day, Anastasio says this is “a large event with free give- aways” for kids who eat, (See SCOOTERS, Page A-8) By Phillip Tomlinson nj.com/south BRIDGETON — The congrega- tion of Trinity United Methodist Church on Fayette Street in Bridge- ton took to the streets Friday morn- ing in a solemn demonstration of faith and community outreach.
