Installation and Upgrade

5 What's New

This section describes the new features and enhancements in SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0.

5.1 General

5.1.1 New Multiple System Login

Users can now log in to multiple systems. You can configure the software so that users have the following options in the Login dialog box:

● They can select a server to log in to from a list that you configure● They can enter a server to log in to in a text box.● They can select an authentication type from a list that you configure

Multiple system login is also supported by the MDX ODBO Connector, so if you are connecting to Profitability and Cost Management via the MDX ODBO Connector, you are presented with the Login dialog box with the multiple system login options you have configured.

Support for multiple system login is a means of providing high availability to the product, and is useful when users need to switch between environments, for example from a development environment to a production environment. It also enables administrators to attach to local systems. For clients with multiple environments, cost of ownership is reduced because there is no need to reconfigure the clients to access different environments.

NoteFor multiple system login to work, all client and servers in an environment must be running the same version of the software.

For more information on configuring multiple system login, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Installation Guide.

5.2 Setup and Configuration

5.2.1 Software is Available as a Download

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 is available as a download. Ensure you have downloaded the correct version from the SAP Software Distribution Center on the SAP Service MarketPlace at

5.2.2 Supported Platforms

For a list of the platforms supported by SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Master Guide and the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) for the product, on the SAP Support Portal at http://service.sap.com/pam .

5.2.3 Configuration Enhancements and Changes

The Configure tool in SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 features a number of enhancements and changes.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 features integration with SAP and other applications and solutions to provide support for diagnostics, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting. Support includes the following:

Detailed application event logsEnd-to-end tracingSupport for SAP Solution Manager and the System Landscape DirectorySupport for CA Wily IntroscopeRemote configuration

To configure these options, the Configure tool has a number of new screens and options, which include the following:

● The Options Available screen has two new options:○ Remote Configuration Service

○ The Configure tool has new screens to set up and enable remote configuration, in which you choose an installation type, enter a port number for communication between machines, and enter a valid account for the remote configuration service to run under.

○ A new screen called Advanced Server Options is available, via which you access screens to configure server logging options, application passport options, and Native Component Supportability (NCS). These last two options configure tracing and metrics collection, which are used for root cause analysis.

○ SAP System Integration Options○ A new SLD Connection screen is available, in which you configure the connection that enables the

application to send system landscape information to the System Landscape Directory.

Enhancements to user login means that the Configure tool has the following changes:

● A new Login Options screen, which allows you to configure the authentication methods that are available for users to select when logging in, including configuring Single Sign On and enabling secondary logon.

● The new Multi System Options screen, in which you configure a list of servers that users can choose to log in to and also whether users can enter a server to log in to in the Login dialog box.

5.2.3.1 Configure Tool Enhancement: Ability to Disable Work Manager

In the Configure tool, the Choose Work Manager Installation Type screen gives you the option to disable Work Manager, just as you can with Report Manager. This is useful if you do not intend to use Work Manager because it prevents unnecessary service processes from running the background.

For more information on configuring Work Manager, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Installation Guide.

5.2.3.2 New Options to Configure Disk Space Levels: Minimum Disk Space and Warning for Low Disk Space

The amount of available disk space that causes alerts to be triggered when opening a model is now configurable. Depending on your computer facilities, you may wish to run the application with either more or less than the default levels. These levels were previously fixed in the application, but can now be set manually during configuration.

In the Choose Model Directory screen of the Configure tool, you click Advanced to access the new Disk Space Levels dialog box. You can set the minimum amount of disk space you want to be available for model results before triggering different levels of model alert:

● Enter the minimum amount of disk space to be available before a critical alert is recorded and model calculation stops.

● Enter the minimum amount of disk space to be available before a warning alert is recorded.

For more information on configuring disk space levels, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Installation Guide.

5.2.3.3 Work Manager and Report Manager Installation Enhancement

The server and client components of the Work Manager and Report Manager utilties have been separated and can be installed independently of each other. This means that client Work Manager and Report Manager interfaces can be installed with more safety on client machines because they cannot be reconfigured as Work Manager and Report Manager servers.

For more information on installing components, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Installation Guide. For more information on the utilities, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Work Manager Guide and the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Report Manager Guide.

5.2.4 Oracle Database Script Enhancement: Check for Correct Character Set

Problems can occur if database collation is case-insensitive when the server collation is set to case-sensitive. To resolve this problem for Oracle databases, the script to create an Oracle database schema, OracleSchema.cmd, now validates whether character sets are set correctly for the database. If they are not correct, the script stops executing. For more information on creating the database schema, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Database Administrator's Guide.

NoteThis issue was resolved for Microsoft SQL Server databases in version 7.5 Support Package 08.

5.3 Administration

5.3.1 New: Support for SAP Solution Manager

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 can be integrated with SAP Solution Manager, to take advantage of the benefits offered by this application life cycle management system. SAP Solution Manager provides integration and collaboration of multiple SAP and non-SAP tools and acts as a centralized platform that provides tools, access to information, and a gateway to the SAP Support Organization.

For this version of the product, SAP Solution Manager can help to manage and support the following scenarios in your Profitability and Cost Management environment:

Service DeskSolution MonitoringChange ManagementRoot Cause Analysis

What's New

For more information on SAP Solution Manager, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Master Guide and the Application Life-Cycle Management information on the SAP Support Portal at http://service.sap.com/alm .

5.3.2 New: Support for the System Landscape Directory

As part of support for SAP Solution Manager and end-to-end root cause analysis, SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 supports the System Landscape Directory (SLD). The SLD is a container for all the properties and information relevant to a system and provides this information to tools to help manage your system landscape.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management provides information to the SLD by sending the SLD an XML file that contains details of the system landscape. For this to happen, you need to link Profitability and Cost Management to the SLD by entering connection information in a new screen in the Configure tool called SLD Connection. At the end of configuration, the Configure tool automatically runs command-line utilities to create the XML file and send it securely to the SLD.

For more information on the SLD, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Master Guide and the information on the SAP Developers Network at http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-sld .

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 provides a diagnostics solution for your environment, which includes support for the following:

ScopingMetrics collectionApplication passports and passport handlingSAP Solution ManagerCA Wily IntroscopeEnd to End Trace Launcher

Scoping metrics provide information about every component and method accessed by each task that a user performs. This information can be used to determine the root cause of problems and to troubleshoot the system.

Root cause analysis for SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management is implemented by support for CA Wily Introscope and SAP Solution Manager. CA Wily Introscope is an application that is integrated with SAP Solution Manager to collect metrics and carry out end-to end tracing on installed software components. You can use CA Wily Introscope for the following:

● Tracing specific issues with the SAP support team● Monitoring performance and changes in performance● Identifying processes that are consuming large proportions of resources

End-to-end tracing is supported by the implementation of passport handling, in which application passports act as unique identifiers for components, allowing the flow of a user through the system to be tracked using tools such as

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 13

the End to End Trace Launcher. End to End Trace Launcher starts the passport tracing and passes information to SAP Solution Manager and CA Wily Introscope for analysis.

Implementing a diagnostics solution with CA Wily Introscope can reduce the cost of ownership for configuration, service monitoring, root cause analysis, and support.

For more information on setting up and implementing end-to-end root cause analysis, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Installation Guide and the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Administrator's Guide.

5.3.4 New: Detailed Application Event Logs

In addition to logging events to the Microsoft Windows Application server event log, SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 generates detailed application event logs for components, which can help in troubleshooting and analyzing the cause of problems.

You can configure the location and complexity of the event log information when configuring the application. For example, you can specify the following:

● The destination log file for each application component● The level of information tracked from day to day by a component● The minimum level of messages to be listed in the file

For information on how to configure and use the log files, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Installation Guide and the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Administrator's Guide.

The event logs are in GLF (Generic Log File) format and can be viewed in Notepad or in the SAP Snap-In for Microsoft Management Console (SAP MMC) version 7.20 patch level 71 and later, which provides a user-friendly interface for viewing log files. For more information on the SAP MMC, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Master Guide.

● Retrieve configuration files for local and remote machines● Launch the Configure tool and create configuration files● Distribute configuration files to remote machines● Set the Server Logging options that determine the level and complexity of event logging for local and remote

machines● View reports from the System Information tool for local and remote machines● Launch and use the System Information, User Monitor, and Service Manager tools● Perform bootstrap monitoring by stopping and starting services on remote machines

The benefits of remote configuration are a reduced time to maintain configuration, the ability to distribute configurations to multiple machines, and the ability to gather configuration and system information from remote machines.

For more information on the Remote Configuration tool, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Administrator's Guide.

Access to the Remote Configuration tool is controlled by the security descriptor, Remote Configuration Security. For more information, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Security Guide.

5.3.8 New Security Descriptor Controls Access to CPU Throttling Options

A new security descriptor, CPU Constraint Security, controls access to the Model Calculation Options that allow you to apply CPU throttling. This enables administrators to control which users can set the following options:

Maximum CPU UsageFirst CPU UsageBackground Calculation

For more information on the CPU Constraint Security descriptor, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Security Guide.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 15

5.3.9 Security Descriptors and Access Levels To Manage Item Properties and Data Aliases

A new security descriptor called Manage Item Properties controls who can manage Item Properties. Previously, only members of the ADMINISTRATORS user group could manage properties. The new security descriptor allows you to grant a user the permission to manage properties without having to make them an ADMINISTRATOR and thereby granting them more rights than is necessary or desirable. You can also grant a user permission to change property settings without also granting them permission to manage properties.

The security descriptor has the following access levels:

● Full Access - the user can access the Manage Properties dialog box and create, delete, rename, and edit properties.

● Edit Data - the user can access the functionality to edit property settings via the dimension screen context menu item, but they cannot access the Manage Properties dialog box to create or delete properties.

● No Access - the user cannot access the Manage Properties dialog box and also cannot edit a property.

The access levels for the existing Manage Data Aliases security descriptor have changed so that you can grant users permission to change a data alias setting without also granting them permission to manage data aliases. The security descriptor now has the following access levels:

● Full Access - the user can access the Manage Data Aliases dialog box and create, delete, rename, and edit properties.

● Edit Data - the user access the functionality to edit a data alias setting via the dimension screen context menu item, but they cannot access the Manage Data Aliases dialog box to create or delete data aliases.

● No Access - the user cannot access the Manage Data Aliases dialog box and also cannot edit a data alias.

For more information see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Security Guide.

5.3.10 Security Descriptors Screen Enhancement: New Groupings for Field Access Security Descriptors

In the Security Descriptors screen of the Model Builder application, the security descriptors for grid values (the Field Access descriptors) no longer display in one long list but are organized into the same groups used by Grid Values list in View Builder, for example the Field Access Security General Group or the Field Access Security Activity Group. As a result, it is easier to navigate the screen and locate security descriptors.

For more information on Field Access security descriptors, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Security Guide.

5.3.11 Alerts Screen: Security Tab Enhancements

In Model Builder, the Security tab in the Alerts screen has the following enhancements:

● Security alerts are now catergorized into five types, which are listed in the Type column● The type of the alert is also indicated in the Severity column by the following icons:

16 P U B L I CSAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's New

What's New

- Security type

- Capacity type

- Validation type

- General type

- Work Manager type● The messages in the tab are updated with current product names and some language corrections.

5.3.12 User Monitor Enhancements

A user can log in to User Monitor and log themselves out of any other SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management application or utility they are currently logged in to. To log other users out, however, a user must be a member of the ADMINISTRATORS group.

For more information on using the User Monitor, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Administrator's Guide.

5.4 Data Import and Export

5.4.1 New Functionality to Export a Data View

In SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0, a view or grid can act as the source for an export to a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. The new Export Data View screen allows you to select an existing grid that you created in View Builder and use it to define the layout of a data export. This enables you to export results to external applications or data warehouses.

In Export Data View, you can select a grid layout and a combination of related dimensions that act as keys. The system then goes through each selection in turn, retrieving results for the grid for each selected key. The results are exported to a CSV file, in a layout similar to that of the original grid. The CSV file uses the decimal separator for the current locale, so you can import the file into Microsoft Excel and other applications without any further processing.

The business benefits of this feature include the following:

● You can use View Builder to construct export files.● You can export combinations of grid values, grid-based calculations, and multiple currencies.● Downstream processing of the exported data is reduced because you can manipulate the data at the source.

For more information on the Export Data View functionality, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide. See also the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Console User Guide for information on running the export job via Console.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 17

5.4.2 Export Enhancement: Current Item ExportAn enhancement to the export functionality enables you to select export dimension items to which the Current status flag is assigned at run time. This allows you to do the following:

● Export Current Items● Filter exports by the current item● Create reusable Export Specification (ESP) files, which you can use for regular tasks

For more information on exporting current items, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.4.3 Export Enhancement: Export ID for Export to DatabaseWhen an Export to Database is performed, every export must have an associated export ID, which can be a shared ID or a personal ID specific to an individual user. The export ID allows the extraction of results by export ID. For example, when two sets of <Cost Object> results are exported to support reporting requirements, they are given different export IDs so that the second export does not overwrite the first. For more information of the database aspects of the export ID, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Database Administrator's Guide.

To support the new export ID, the Export dialog box has a list that allows you to select either a shared ID or the option to create a personal ID. You create IDs in the new Create New Export ID dialog box. Because export IDs are mandatory for exports to database, you cannot proceed with the export until you assign an ID to it. If you try to proceed without assigning an ID, the Create New Export ID dialog box appears and you must assign an ID to the export.

You manage export IDs in the new Manage Export IDs dialog box, in which you can create, rename, and delete export IDs. Which export IDs you have access to and which you can fully manage are controlled by the following two new security descriptors:

Shared Export ID SecurityAll Users Export ID Security

For information on creating and managing Export IDs, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide. For more information on the associated security descriptors, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Security Guide.

CautionAn EXPORT_ID field is added to all existing PPR_ and OMR_ results tables in the database, apart from a number of Transactional Costing tables. This means that when you upgrade to version 10.0, results are DELETED from ALL results tables, except for the following tables, which do not have an EXPORTID field:

PPR_HVACTIVITYDRIVERMAPPINGPPR_HVDETAILCOSTPPR_HVBREAKDOWNDETAILCOSTPPR_HVBREAKDOWN

There are two tables to which this does not apply. All existing data is preserved and an export ID of 1 is written to results in the following tables:

What's New

PPR_HVLIUNITRATEPPR_HVUNITRATE

During the upgrade, the PPLOAD_HVACTIVITYDRIVERVOLUME table has an additional RESPCENTERNAME field added, which is automatically populated with a value of RC Unassigned. Any existing data in this table is retained. Furthermore, any associated results tables that contain Transactional Responsibility Center values are populated with an RC Unassigned value of 3007.

5.4.4 Import Enhancements: Ability to Save and Reuse Import Selections

In the Import XML File dialog box in Model Builder, you can choose to save your import selections to an Import Specification File (an ISF file), which you can reuse when required. You can click Load to load an ISF file for reuse.

For more information on saving and reusing import selections, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.4.5 New Database Views

In addition to the standard database views provided in previous releases, SAP Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 provides two new types of view, which are based on the standard views. Each standard view has the following equivalent views:

● A view with an SM suffix in the name - for example the view VPPR_COSTOBJECTVALUE has an equivalent view called VPPR_COSTOBJECTVALUESM. The SM view is optimized differently to the standard view, so that it returns the same results, but obtains them in a different way. SM and standard views can return results more efficiently depending on your system, and we recommend that you test which views work best for your environment

● A view with a BW prefix in the name - for example the view VPPR_COSTOBJECTVALUE has an equivalent view called BWPPR_COSTOBJECTVALUE. The BW views have the column names shortened and the dimension item names shortened to 32 characters. These views can be used for systems that have naming conventions with character restrictions. They have been added to the product to simplify the integration of results into SAP Netweaver® Business Warehouse through DBConnect.

For more information on database views, please see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Database Administrator's Guide.

5.4.6 Data Loader Enhancement: Load Assignments

Data Loader now allows you to load assignment data into SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0. This feature is supported by new assignment procedures and packages and new database tables to hold the assignment data. The advantages of loading assignments with Data Loader include the following:

● You can load all model data using a single technology. For example, you don't need to combine Data Loader and Data Bridge.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 19

● Data Loader is able to handle high volumes of data as in, for example, Transactional Costing models.● You can incorporate assignment loading into existing ETL (extraction, transform, and load) and automation

processes.● This feature contributes to integration with SAP BusinessObjects Financial Information Management, which

leverages Data Loader functionality.

For more information on loading assignments using Data Loader, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Database Administrator's Guide.

5.4.7 Data Loader Enhancement: Load by Any Alias

Data Loader can load by any data alias except the system-generated data alias EPO CODE. The data aliases available to Data Loader are defined for each model by setting the new Model Calculation Option, Data Loader Alias Resolution, as follows:

● Default Alias - Data Loader uses only the DEFAULT ALIAS dimension item names to load data.● All Aliases - Data Loader uses dimension item names in any data alias to load data, except for EPO CODE.

ExampleYour organization refers to products by both name and stock keeping unit code. In your model, you define the product name as the DEFAULT ALIAS and define the stock-keeping unit code as a data alias for each product. You set the Data Loader Alias Resolution to All Aliases and use Data Loader to import values from warehouse data that uses exclusively stock-keeping codes. This saves time as you do not need to resolve the codes into product names to import the values.

For information on the Model Calculation Option, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide. For information on Data Loader, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Database Administrator's Guide.

5.4.8 Data Bridge Enhancement: Abort Import

Data Bridge now has an Abort command that allows you to stop an import in progress.

CautionThe Abort command does not roll back any data imported up to the point of the abort.

For more information, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Data Bridge User Guide.

What's New

5.5 Model Construction

5.5.1 New Model Type: Bill of Materials

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 provides a new model type, Bill of Materials, which is an extension of a Profitability and Costing model. A Bill of Materials model performs activity-based costing to determine cost object costs, but also calculates costs at a lower level than that of the finished product. This allows you, for example, to determine the cost of manufacturing the assemblies that make up finished goods.

Business uses of this new modeling type include the following:

● Accurately assigning overheads to finished goods based on the consumption of assemblies● Measuring the environmental impact of production, for example determining the carbon footprint of products● Target costing

For more information on the Bill of Materials model type, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.5.2 Currencies Dimension Enhancements

The <Currencies> dimension provides new groupings for currencies and commonly used units of measure (UOM), as follows:

Base UOMCurrency UOMWeight UOMVolume UOMOther UOM

The UOM currency groupings have been introduced to facilitate the operation of the new Bill of Materials type model, where they can be found in the <Units Of Measure> dimension. However they have also been added to the <Currencies> dimension so that their functionality is available in other model types, if required.

In addition to adding standard currencies as previously, you can now define custom currencies and units of measure in the Item Customization Wizard. This allows you to use different units of measure or currencies appropriate to different dimension items in your model. By providing the Base UOM, the system allows you to express conversion factors for your custom UOMs as ratios of the Base UOM, and all conversion is handled internally by the system.

For more information on the <Currencies> dimension, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 21

5.5.3 Transactional Costing Enhancement: Activity Driver Volumes by Responsibility Center

In Transactional Costing Models, you can now define transactional <Activity Driver> values by <Responsibility Center>. Cost allocations and the calculation of unit rates can now be specific by <Responsibility Center>. This allows costs and cost rates to be driven by volumes specific to <Responsibility Centers>.

To apply a specific <Responsibility Center> to a transaction <Activity Driver>, you assign the driver to the new default <Transaction RC Activity Drivers> attribute. This allows activity driver volumes to be cost driven by a specific <Responsibility Center>, rather than to all <Responsibility Centers> with an “RC Unassigned” default value, which was previously the case.

This new functionality has the following benefits:

● It makes model design more flexible.● It potentially releases a< Cost Object> dimension for other use because you no longer need to use a <Cost

Object> dimension to represent a <Responsibility Center>.● It reduces the total cost of ownership because there is no need to override every assignment to link a

<Responsibility Center> to the <Cost Object> dimension that represents it.

For more information on how to assign a Transaction <Activity Driver >to a <Responsibility Center>, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.5.4 Resource Driver Assignments Enhancements

In version 10.0, <Resource Driver> assignment is more flexible and provides the following enhancements:

● Default <Resource Driver> assignments are inherited from parent assignments.● You can define assignments as being by cost type or by <Responsibility Center> at the model level.

Inheritance of Default Resource Drivers

Dimension items can inherit the default Resource Driver assignments of their parent items. However, override assignments cannot be made in this way. Inherited default Resource Driver assignments are resolved in the following order:

1. First, the leaf item.2. Next, assignments inherited in the main hierarchy of the dimension, working from the leaf item up the branch

of the hierarchy tree.3. Finally, assignments inherited in the Attribute hierarchy, working up the branch of the hierarchy tree.

To support the inheritance of default Resource Driver Assignments, the Resource Drivers Assignment screen has the following changes:

● The Default Resource Driver column shows the resolved, inherited assignment for each leaf item in the dimension hierarchy.

22 P U B L I CSAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's New

What's New

● The screen contains an additional Inherited From column, which lists the source of inherited assignments for leaf items.

● Parent items only have an entry in the Default Resource Driver column if an assignment is made.● In the list to select the default Resource Driver, the item RC Unassigned is replaced by <No Assignment>.● The Overrides panel also contains an Inherited From column.● The Overrides panel has two options for displaying default Resource Driver assignments:

A single simple default assignment is displayed - this is the resolved inherited assignment, as in the main screen. All default assignments are shown.

Resource Driver Assignments by Cost Type and Responsibility Center

In version 7.5, <Resource Driver> assignments are by cost type. In version 10.0, <Resource Driver> assignments can be by <Line Items> and/or <Services> or by <Responsibility Center>. To support these enhancements, a new Model Calculation Option, Resource Driver Assignment, is available, with the following options:

By Cost TypeBy Responsibility Center

Depending on which option you choose, the Resource Drivers Assignment screen switches to display either the cost type (<Line Items> or <Services>) or the <Responsibility Center> as the primary dimension. To switch between <Line Items> or <Services> as a cost type, the screen now uses Cost Type options instead of tabs.

Benefits and Business Use

The <Resource Driver> assignments enhancements assist in model building and maintenance and provide support for an activity-based chart of accounts or COA - a set of values in the general ledger that creates the framework for recoding and reporting all financial transactions.

Flexibility in <Resource Driver> assignment also provides the following business benefits:

● It reduces the time needed to create and maintain assignments.● It reduces the number of overrides to create and maintain.● It aligns to a common approach to the chart of accounts in cost center accounting.

For more information on <Resource Driver> assignments, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 23

5.5.5 Cost Object Assignment Enhancement: User Can Define a Default Driver Responsibility Center Type

A new Model Calculation Option called Default Driver Responsibility Center Type allows you to define, at the model level, a default <Responsibility Center> as the source of <Activity Driver> values for <Cost Object> /<Activity Driver> assignments. You can choose from the following settings:

AllParentCurrentRC Unassigned

The setting that you choose is used as the source of <Activity Driver> values unless you choose a different setting in the Cost Object Assignment screen. In the upper right-hand pane in which you assign <Activity Drivers>, the Driver Responsibility Centers Type column replaces the Responsibility Center column and allows you to select from the same four settings as the Model Calculation Option.

The initial setting for all new and existing models is RC Unassigned. This is a change from the default setting of All in earlier versions, which could lead to poorly performing models. The RC Unassigned option has no associated consolidation, so calculation is quicker.

For more information on Cost Object assignment and model calculation options, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.5.6 Rules Manager Enhancement: New Filter for Dimensions

In Model Builder, the Rules Manager now contains the standard Profitability and Cost Management filter box, to allow you to filter dimension items. When a dimension contains many items, filtering helps you to locate specific dimension items quickly and easily. For more information on filtering, or the Rules Manager, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.5.7 Rules Enhancement: Support for the InStrRev Function

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 now supports the string function InstrRev in rules when the Rules Engine option for model calculation is set to Compiled or Compiled with VBScript.

You can use this function to search for a string (String 1) in another string (String 2). InStrRev returns the position of String 1 in String 2. The position is counted from the start of String 2, but the search is performed from the end of the string.

For more information on functions and rules, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide and the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling Reference Guide.

5.5.8 New Default Model Calculation Options

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 allows you to create default settings for Model Calculation Options that apply to all new models that you create.

You set the default options in the new Default Model Options dialog box, which you can access from the Tools menu. You set the options in the same way that you set options in the Model Calculation Options dialog box. Once you have set the default options, all new models are created with those Model Calculation Options. The settings do not affect existing models.

For more information, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling Reference Guide.

5.6.2 View Builder Enhancement: Favorites Group for Grid Values

In View Builder, you can add grid values that you use frequently to the new Favorites group in the Grid Values list. This helps you to locate these values more easily.

For more information on adding grid values to the Favorites group, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.6.3 New Plot Zeros Option in Charts in Books

The Chart object for Books has a new Plot Zeros property, which appears as the Plot Zeros checkbox in the Property Panel. You can select or deselect Plot Zeros to specify whether zero values are to be plotted on a chart. This feature is useful on a chart such as a line graph, where a line joins plotted points. If data is missing, you may not wish the plotted line to fall to zero. In this case, you can deselect Plot Zeros to specify that zeros are not plotted. You can also set the Plot Zeros property in book script by supplying a Boolean value for the property.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewWhat's New P U B L I C 25

For more information on this property, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide and the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling Reference Guide.

5.6.4 New Grid Design Option: Remove Custom Labels from Axes

If you have edited the labels for the axis of a grid layout, you can quickly and easily restore the labels to their original dimension item names by using the new grid design context menu command, Remove Custom Labels. You can choose to restore the original names for an entire axis or for specific selected items.

For more information on removing custom labels from grid axes, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

5.6.5 Book Script: New BookName() Method

A new book scripting method is available called BookName(), which returns the name of the current book. For more information on this method, see the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling Reference Guide.

6 Known Issues and Limitations

The topics that follow list the known issues and limitations for this release. Internal issue reference numbers are provided where relevant.

6.1 Known Issues

6.1.1 Installation and Configuration

6.1.1.1 The SAP System Landscape Directory Registration Tool fails to Start when run from a Command Prompt Window (ADAPT01545909)

If the C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\PCM\sldreg.exe is run from the command prompt on a Windows Server 2008 x86 machine, the following error message is returned:

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details.

The following error details are also recorded in the Windows Event Log:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\PCM\sldreg.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",versio n="8.0.50727.4053" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

This error occurs because the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 security update described in the Microsoft knowledge base article : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973923 is not installed or is not the correct version.

To resolve this issue, you need to download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (version 8.0.50727.4053) from the Microsoft web site.

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's NewKnown Issues and Limitations P U B L I C 41

6.1.2 Data Import and Export

6.1.2.1 Export to File > As Text Does Not Handle Unicode Characters Correctly (ADAPT01163626)

In the Model Builder application, dimension hierarchies can be exported using the Export to File As Textcommand in the Main Hierarchy context menu. However, if a dimension item has a name containing Unicode characters, the characters display as question marks (????) in the text file.

The Export to File As RTF and Export to File As HTML commands work correctly, as do all the Export To Clipboard commands.

A workaround for the problem is to use the Export to Clipboard As Text option, paste the text into a text editor such as Notepad, and save the text as a Unicode TXT file.

6.1.2.2 Data Loader Allows the Loading of Recursive Assignments for Bill of Materials Models (ADAPT01429035)

Model Builder prevents you creating a recursive assignment in the BOM Makeup of a Bill of Materials model. That is, you cannot try make an assembly a component of itself. However, Data Loader does allow you load recursive assignments into a BOM Makeup. You can view and delete the recursive assignments in the BOM Makeup screen.

6.1.2.3 Data Loader Fails to Load 2,000 000+ Records

In a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database, when attempting to load more than 2,000 000 records in an SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management database, Data Loader fails with a locking error.

6.1.3 Model Construction

6.1.3.1 Aliases for Items Continue to Display After the Alias is Deleted

If the primary alias for a model is set to a Data Alias, the values from this data alias continue to display after you delete it, even though the primary alias is reset automatically to the Default Alias. If you open the Select Data Aliases dialog box where the primary alias is now set to Default Alias and click OK, the correct default item values display. Alternatively, close and re-open the model, and the default item values appear correctly.

42 P U B L I CSAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management What's New

Known Issues and Limitations

6.1.3.2 Transactional Costing: Imported Detailed Cost Objects Items Are Displayed When They Should Be Hidden (ADAPT01514357)

This issue occurs when you import a Transactional Costing model that was created in a version of the software before the functionality to hide <Detailed Cost Objects> items was available. When you import such a model, the <Detailed Cost Objects> dimension items are displayed, even though the Model Calculation options are set to hide <Detailed Cost Objects> items. If you try to change the Model Calculation options, additional unwanted dimension items are created.

Workaround: To import a Transactional Costing model from an earlier version of the software and ensure that the <Detailed Cost Objects> items are hidden, proceed as follows:

1. Create a new Transactional Costing model.2. In the Model Calculation Options dialog box, set all Detailed Cost Objects <number> main hierarchy options to

Display.3. Import the XML file of the model. In the Import XML File dialog box, deselect the MODELOPTIONS check box in

the Available Tables list to ensure that you do not import the Model Calculation settings for the model.4. When the import is complete, open the Model Calculation Options dialog box and set all the Detailed Cost

Objects <number> main hierarchy options to Hide.

6.1.4 Book Building

6.1.4.1 Some Fonts Do Not Display for Book Controls on the Web (4380)

The Script, Webdings, and Wingdings fonts can be set for any control in a book. However, the fonts do not display when the book is viewed in a web browser. The fonts can still be used successfully in text in a book.

6.1.4.2 A Drill Control Displays Incorrectly when the Book is Viewed on the Web (ADAPT01514036)

This issue occurs when an Objectives and Metrics model created in an earlier version of the software is imported into version 10.0. A Drill control in a book looks correct when viewed in Model Builder or Book Viewer, but when the book is viewed in the Web Client, the Drill control appears blank; it displays without text, values, or colors.

Workaround: To have the Drill control display correctly, open the book in the Book Editor, force a change (for example, select, and then immediately deselect, a checkbox in the Property panel) , and then resave and republish the book. The Drill control then displays correctly in the Web client.

6.1.5 Reporting

6.1.5.1 MDX ODBO Connector: Attempting to Insert a PivotTable in Excel 2003 Generates an Error (ADAPT01499666)

If you attempt to create a PivotTable in Microsoft Excel 2003, using MDX ODBO Connector to connect to SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management model data, the following error message displays:Initialization of the data source failed. Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available and try this operation again. If you see this message again, create a new datasource to connect to the database.

This error is caused by a Microsoft Excel issue and you can resolve it by downloading and installing the appropropriate update for Microsoft Office 2003.

The issue is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article KB907417, which is available at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=907417 .

The update can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=1B0BFB35-C252-43CC-8A2A-6A64D6AC4670&displaylang=en .

You must install this specific update; the fix is not available in Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 for Microsoft Office 2003.

Workaround: If you cannot install the update, you can resolve the issue by creating a file called excel.exe.config in the same folder as the excel.exe file. Create excel.exe.config with the following contents:

<?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration><startup><supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/></startup></configuration>

6.1.5.2 “CMS Server cannot be found” Error Occurs when Attempting to Launch a Book from SAP BusinessObjects InfoView (ADAPT01539714)

When the PCMBookLink is double-clicked or launched using the View Profit Book context menu option in SAP BusinessObjects InfoView, the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management web site does not open, and the Enterprise Single Sign On login fails with the error message: CMS Server cannot be found.

6.1.6.1 Opening a Book Raises an “Interface Not Supported” Error (ADAPT01461870)

The issue occurs for some releases of Windows Server 2008 on both on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems when using the proprietary web server. If a user logs in to the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Web Client, opens a model, and then attempts to open a book, the following error message is generated: Interface Not Supported.

The problem occurs when an entry for the Microsoft Script Control (msscript.ocx) in the Registry has a filepath that is defined between double quotation marks, for example: "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msscript.ocx"

To resolve the issue, use the Registry Editor to remove the quotes from the filepath as follows:

To correct the issue on a Windows Server 2008 x64 platform

To correct the issue on a 64-bit Windows Server 2008 platform, proceed as follows:

6.2 Known Limitations

6.2.1 Model Construction

6.2.1.1 Group Bar Does Not Scroll to Allow Dimensions to be Copied to Groups not in View (4636)

In the Model Builder Dimension Group Panel, it is not possible to drag a dimension from a group to another group that is not in the currently visible area of the screen. To move a dimension to a position beyond the current viewing area, you may need to move the dimension in stages.

6.2.1.2 Objective and Metrics Models: Transparency for Items in Icons Dimension Is Not Supported in Books

In Objectives and Metrics models, transparency of images is not supported for items assigned to the <Icons> dimension. This affects items in the Icons dimension, boundaries assignment, and grids.

6.2.2 Book Building

6.2.2.1 View Builder: Limitations in Graph Mode (4831)

Some grids cannot be represented in certain graphical forms - for example, when no headers exist on one of the axes. Limitations also exist for grids using the Replace with Keys option, which dynamically alters the view of grid data to your selection in the Pivot bar. This occurs because the graph identifies an item or value in a grid at design time according to its position in a grid, which is defined by its co-ordinates, which depend on the axes - for example a rendered item in a graph can be the Line Item value in the February row in the Rent column. If keys for a grid are changed dynamically at run time, the co-ordinates for the grid item change and the graph cannot find the item - and therefore cannot represent it.

For similar reasons, representation of expanded groups can also be affected with particular graph types.

6.2.3 End User Products

6.2.3.1 Font Size in Internet Explorer

The web client to view books does not support Internet Explorer's feature to change to small or large font sizes.

Known Issues and Limitations

6.2.3.2 Objectives and Metrics Models: Keyboard Navigation of Book Controls in Web Client (5985)

For Objectives and Metrics models, the TAB key does not work for navigating around a Drill control when viewing a book in the web client.

6.2.3.3 Headers for Data Explorer Layouts Are Not Painted when a Layout is Viewed as a PDF on the Web (4712, 444, 5716)

When a Data Explorer layout in a book displays in PDF form in the web client, the headers for the data are not painted.

Suggested workaround: If the headers are required for a hard copy, print the book from within Internet Explorer and all the headers appear. However, we recommend that you make the Data Explorer information available via a Report control rather than use the PDF form.
