COMPLETE EYE EXAM

Are your eye exams complete? At Sankara our optometrists & Ophthalmologists use a variety of

tests and procedures to thoroughly examine your eyes.

A comprehensive eye exam is usually completed in 90 minutes. The tests that you may require are determined by your condition and would be explained by your doctor.

Visual Acuity measures your vision and is the start of your exam.

Retinoscopy & Refraction allow the optometrist determine your glass prescription.

Puff of Air (tonometry) test may be done to determine eye pressure.

A slit-lamp is used to examine your eye structure.

Dilatation is done using drops which take between 30-45 minutes to work. This allows a better view of the inside structure of the eye (retina) and/or to obtain appropriate eye power in children.

After dilation the retinoscopy may be repeated.

Your doctor would reexamine you and advice medication, glasses, specialized investigations, LASERs or Surgery based on his findings.
