Understanding LASIK

Before opting for LASIK surgery, you need to evaluate the procedure and what it entails.

The Technology

?Sankara Eye Hospitals adopt Wavlight Laser Systems, the most advanced system for refractive surgery.

?The Wavelight uses the fastest and most sensitive eye tracker to ensure perfectly accurate and well-centred treatments.

?The laser has the quickest treatment time, an important factor in ensuring uniform treatment over the entire surface of the cornea.

?Additionally, it customizes corneal shape not only to enhance visual acuity but also to improve contrast, especially in dim light conditions.

Before the Procedure

?Schedule an appointment with your doctor for a pre-surgical counselling session.

?Your doctor should insist on your undergoing a pre-procedure test to determine if LASIK is the best option for you.

?Take your eye prescription records with you to the examination.

?Your doctor will guide you about the treatment, the chances of cure, and the potential risks and complications.

?Those ineligible for laser vision correction are offered other alternatives.

The Procedure

?LASIK is an outpatient surgical procedure.

?Before the procedure, eye drops will be administered as anesthetic to numb the surface of the eye.

?No blades are used in the surgery.

?There is no pain during the procedure, although some patients may experience mild discomfort or a sensation of increased pressure.

?The procedure takes 10 to15 minutes for each eye.
