Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last daysbefore the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that

these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.

In Revelation 9:15-16, theBible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill “the third part of men.” Never inthe history of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers.However, the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIAWorld Factbook reports that in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this num-ber is growing by 10 million per year.

In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that aworld dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number withoutwhich they will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way.Nearly every human being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. Inthe past few years, we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot bedeclared as a dependent on an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with creditcards, and many people urging the abolishment of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until thispresent time. Only after the invention of the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.

Revelation 13:7 andDaniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term “New World Order” has become a prevalentphrase in the world’s political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred toit repeatedly. In the September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, “Iraq isthe first test for the New World Order.” He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world.The United Nations’ troops are continually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to estab-lish an interdependent community of nations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible saysthat this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of this government is at hand.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertaining to the last times are being fulfilled simultane-ously?

In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the EuphratesRiver will be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the bat-tle of Armageddon according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at whichtime Jesus will return and fight on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdomand usher in His one thousand-year reign of peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline “TurkeyWill Cut Off Flow of Euphrates for One Month.” The article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. Whilefilling up the reservoir, the flow of the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion chan-nel built. These things have now been done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has the ability to stop the Euphrates Riverat will. The conditions for fulfilling this 1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.

WE BELIEVE that the Bible is the inspiredWord of God, that Jesus Christ is the Saviorof the world, and that He will come again toestablish a kingdom that shall never bedestroyed (Daniel 2:44). Those who are bornagain (John 3:3-5) will have eternal life andrule as kings and priests with Christ forever.

WHAT IS ENDTIMEMAGAZINE?

In 1968, Irvin Baxter Jr. discovered theUnited States and other modern nations in theBible. He also found the Berlin Wall in the Bibleand that one day it was to be torn down,reuniting Germany, and that event would bethe catalyst to spark an international move-ment called the “New World Order.” Thesethings have now come to pass.

Irvin Baxter Jr., a Pentecostal minister,began Endtime Ministries in 1986 when hewrote A Message For The President, a bookexplaining the major prophecies of the Biblewhich he had been teaching since 1968.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, prophetic ful-fillment accelerated rapidly. The decision wasmade to launch Endtime. The purpose of themagazine is to explain the prophecies of theBible and to show that they are now being ful-filled in intricate detail.

Articles focus on the soon return of JesusChrist, the truth of the Bible, and the need forsalvation. Endtime does not deal with doctrinalcontroversies, as valid as they may be. This willbe left to other publications.

How many times did the heartsof the devout of Israel race asthey found a leader who they

thought might be the Messiah? Whenthings didn’t work out, the excite-ment abated and was replaced by dis-appointment.

How many times can expectationsoar and then be dashed onto therocks of disappointment before disil-lusionment sets in? The unbelief wasalmost palpable in the words of oneman who heard about Jesus ofNazareth. In his skepticism, he sar-castically asked, “Can any good thingcome out of Nazareth?”

In spite of the long wait and themany disappointments, the day final-ly came. The angels did appearsinging, “Peace on earth, goodwilltoward men. For unto you is bornthis day in the city of David, a Savior,which is Christ the Lord.”

They did find Jesus wrapped inswaddling clothes, lying in a manger!

The wise men from the east did fol-low the star until they found Himwho was born King of the Jews!

What for thousands of years wasnothing but an elusive promise final-ly became a glorious reality!

What about today?How many false Antichrists have

we had? Napoleon? How aboutMussolini? Stalin? Adolf Hitler?Henry Kissinger? But does that meanthe prophesied Man of Sin won’tcome?

The prophecy teachers declaredthat someday Israel would againbecome a nation. On May 14, 1948, ithappened. David Ben Gurionannounced to the world: The name ofour Jewish state will be Israel. Theblood raced through the veins of

Bible students around the world.Surely the Second Coming is near!But then things returned to normal.

Then came the 1967 Six Day War.“If Israel reunifies the city ofJerusalem, the rapture will takeplace,” proclaimed some of theprophecy preachers. Days later,Israel crossed that barbed wire fenceand raised the Israeli flag over theTemple Mount for the first time in2,000 years. Still the rapture didn’thappen, and soon things returned tonormal.

Then Rabin and Arafat shookhands on the lawn of the WhiteHouse confirming the Oslo Accords.The confirmation of the covenant?Have the final seven years begun?No…not yet.

Now… They are implanting computer

chips under the skin. They are evenusing the subdermal chip for buyingand selling.

The Temple Institute in Israel hasrecreated all the furniture and theutensils needed for resumption oftemple worship.

The Sanhedrin has been reestab-lished after 1,600 years. Last monththey held discussions about the prop-er location of the prophesied ThirdTemple.

Still no rapture! Why hasn’t Hecome back yet? It’s simple… it’s justnot quite time yet.

Know this for sure: The one whopromised to come the first time keptHis word. The same Messiah prom-ised to come a second time. Again,He will keep His word.

Government wants it both waysIt seems to me, after hearing about

the new Illinois law banning sexualorientation discrimination that thegovernment has crossed the line con-cerning separation of church andstate. Governments are quick toscream about such separation whenthe church speaks up about laws andother activities in which governmentsare involved, but they do not hesitateto lay their heavy hands on what thechurch does. The government has lostboth its moral and religious con-science. Is this the beginning of thereligious persecution prophesied forthe endtime? If this continues, eventhe Christian citizens of what’sknown as the greatest free country inthe world will be crying “Even so,come quickly Lord Jesus.” -L. Larlee

The mark in Exodus?I have a question to which I have

never heard the answer to regardingthe Passover. The Lord led me toExodus 13:9: “And it shall be for a signunto thee upon thine hand, and for amemorial between thine eyes, that theLORD’S law may be in thy mouth:for with a strong hand hath theLORD brought thee out of Egypt.”

This has to have great meaning tothe mark of the beast. The hand andforehead now we know are not justrandom placing. Could you commenton this?

taining strips of parchment inscribedwith quotations from the HebrewScriptures, one of which is strappedto the forehead and the other to theleft arm; traditionally worn by Jewishmen during morning worship, excepton the Sabbath and holidays.

Jews were commanded to do this sothat they would not forget the wordsof the Lord. Those words were toguide their thoughts and every actionof their lives.

As you point out, this explains whythe Antichrist will want every personto receive his name in the hand orforehead. He intends for his teachingsto permeate every aspect of ourthinking and life.

Animal instinctA recent article in National

Geographic News asked: Did animalssense the tsunami was coming? Itreported that before the tsunami hit,wild and domestic animals seemed toknow what was about to happen andfled to safety: “elephants screamedand ran for higher ground; dogsrefused to go outdoors; flamingosabandoned their low-lying breedingareas; and zoo animals rushed intotheir shelters and could not beenticed to come back out.” Whatcould it mean? -M. How dofish know where to return to whenthey go back to the very place inwhich they were originally hatched?How do all of the Monarch butter-flies know to migrate to one valley inSouth America every year?

REPLY: Jesus said that except wehate father, mother, wife, childrenand even our own lives, we cannot beHis disciples. Yet in another passageof the Bible, we are instructed to loveour wives.

This is not a contradiction. Jesuswas teaching that, if we are forced tochoose between our wives or our par-ents and Him, we should love Him

and leave them. The same principlewould hold true for our country.

Strong doubted that such athing would happen since the samenations presently in the UN wouldinevitably be included in the newglobal organization. Thus the sameproblems the UN has now would bein the new organization. Strong saidit would be easier to fix what we havenow rather than starting over fromscratch.

and doctrines of the Nicolaitans.After studying this, it appeared to methat a lay person or a pastor shouldshepherd the flock rather than rulethe flock, because ruling would leadthe flock to believe that he was theirmaster and we have but one masterJesus Christ. I think it’s wise that weunderstand what those deeds anddoctrines are. I’d like to know whatyou think about this?

REPLY: Although I have studied thedeeds of the Nicolaitans, I’m not sureI have a conclusive answer as to whatthey are. Some people believe it wasthe doctrine of laity rule, especiallysince laitans is part of this name.

Sometimes laity rule will move ustoward ungodliness because preach-ers are human beings and are subjectto pressures like everyone else. Whena church has a strong board thatbegins to exercise authority over theminister, a laity rule situation devel-ops. The minister no longer feels freeto preach what the Bible says. Hefears for his job, which is his liveli-hood. Throughout the years, manyhave succumbed to those pressures. Ithink it is possible that theNicolaitans that believed in immoral-ity did some of those things.

I agree that a pastor should be ashepherd. Yet the Bible says in I Titus

3:5: “(For if a man know not how torule his own house, how shall he takecare of the church of God?)” A pastorhas to be a strong enough individualwho is able to rule, because if hedoesn’t, Satan will take advantage ofhis weakness and encroach upon thechurch. On the other hand, any pas-tor should be very conscientious andhave a shepherd’s heart and try tonever hurt the flock that he pastors.There has to be a balance.

In Matthew 23:10, Jesus said,“Neither be ye called masters: for oneis your Master, even Christ.” Paulsaid, “You follow me as I followChrist.” As pastors, we should onlyexpect people to follow us, as we fol-low Christ.

Is Iran next for Bush?Iran accused the United States of

trying to disrupt its nuclear negotia-tions with the European Union byevoking the threat of a military strike.Iran warned Washington it wouldrespond to any “unwise measure.”President Bush said he could not ruleout resorting to military action ifAmerica fails to persuade Iran toabandon a nuclear energy program.

Meanwhile, senior Bush adminis-tration officials are meeting withother Arab states in the region tocoordinate policies in the eventaction should become warranted.Iran has temporarily suspended itscontroversial nuclear enrichmentactivities. A top Iranian officer wasrecently quoted as saying that Iranhas 10 million volunteers determinedto fight to the death against aggres-sion. “If the U.S. makes the mistakeof attacking Iran, we will give them alesson, and they will have no chanceto remedy.”

EU ready to arm ChinaThe European Union is lifting its

15-year-old arms embargo on sales toChina. Washington is saying that theprospect of its Pacific forces beingthreatened by advanced Europeanweapons sold to China was unaccept-able and that lifting the embargowould lead to restrictions onAmerican cooperation with Europeon defense issues.

Britain’s Foreign Secretary JackStraw went to Beijing to make clearthat Britain’s long opposition toremoving the European embargofrom selling arms to China is about toend. Tony Blair explained personallyto President Bush that Britain could

no longer hold out against the major-ity opinion in the EU.

Despite Britain’s decision, the U.S.has reaffirmed its adamant oppositionto the lifting of the EU arms embargoon China. Washington is concernedabout “particular types of weaponssystems that might be sold that couldalter or change the military situation”in the Taiwan Strait.

Crushing Taiwan independenceat any cost

In a bid to make a distinctionbetween Taiwan and China, PresidentChen Shui-bian is pledging to changethe names of all relevant governmentagencies to “Taiwan” in two years.“We will start this policy first withgovernment agencies and state-owned corporations,” he said.

Sensing that Taiwan is striding for-ward to become a sovereign and nor-mal country, Beijing has resorted topublishing a white paper in a last-ditch effort to point out that“Taiwan’s authorities under ChenShui-bian have deliberately chal-lenged the status quo. The documentcriticizes the attempt to enact a newconstitution as “effecting Taiwan’sindependence through the formationof a so-called constitutional reform.”The white paper goes on to repeat thethreat that “should the Taiwanauthorities go so far as to make areckless attempt that constitutes amajor incident of ‘Taiwan independ-ence,’ the Chinese people and armedforces will resolutely and thoroughlycrush it at any cost.”

The report also criticized theUnited States for selling missiles toTaiwan. The white paper’s releasecame as China’s legislature discussesan anti-secession law, seen as a legalmeans to push Taiwan to unify withthe mainland. Taiwan has described

the law as a pretext for a militarymove against it.

U.S. moves to provoke new war under fire

According to the Korean NewsAgency, a secret document called“measures to let the U.S. forces inSouth Korea play a regional role” wasreleased to the public in South Korealast month. The document classifiedthe crisis in Northeast Asia into low,medium and high phases. It called forputting U.S. troops in South Koreainto action, considering NorthKorea’s refusal to scrap its nuclearprogram as the medium phase, andChina launching war with Taiwan asthe high phase.

The U.S. military said that 26 U.S.Navy FA-18 Hornets were moved toKorea in order to participate in jointtraining exercises. U.S. Air ForceMaj. Edwina M. Walton said the jointtraining would improve the Navyjets’ communication capabilities withAir Force jets and allow the pilots tobetter acquaint themselves with theclimate and terrain.

The (North) Korean NationalPeace Committee in a Decemberstatement warned that if the U.S.mounts an attack on the KoreanPeninsula or China, it would developinto another world war.

Russia’s involvementsRussia has demanded to be more

involved in EU defense and securitydecisions. Moscow said it has feltincreasingly isolated from questionsof European security and defensesince the enlargement of the EU.

Russia reveals new missile threat

The Russian government’sRossiyskaya Gazeta daily reportedthat Russia is fitting its strategicbombers with cruise missiles capableof delivering a massive precisionstrike thousands of miles away. Anunnamed senior air force commanderwas quoted as saying, “We have bro-ken the U.S. monopoly on the use oflong-range conventional cruise mis-siles.” This announcement followsmonths of cryptic statements fromPresident Vladimir Putin and his topgenerals that Russia was developing anew missile program that was to be astep ahead of Western rivals—includ-ing any technology developed by theUnited States.

Solana suggests ‘early warning’ system for EU-U.S. relations

EU’s future foreign minister JavierSolana has said that the EU and U.S.should have a much more pragmaticrelationship. He said that relationsbetween Brussels and Washingtonshould be based on three planks: itshould be pragmatic, results-orientedand have an early warning system.Such a system would avoid “differ-ences of opinion actually becomingreal problems over time,” he said.Solana’s words come as he carveshimself an ever-bigger role in the EU.

Who’s afraid of Europe?In December, the EU received mili-

tary command in Bosnia from NATO,an event noticed by very few people.The EU is taking on the largest andmost important independent militarymission in its history. If its 7,000-sol-dier force in Bosnia is successful at‘peacekeeping,’ it may lead to similarEuropean missions in the future.

European Parliament OKs Constitution

The European Parliament gave itsoverwhelming endorsement to the

European Union’s first-ever constitu-tion, and has urged EU governmentsto quickly follow suit. The vote was500 to 137, with 40 abstentions, toratify the new treaty, which is to takeeffect in 2007 if ratified across all 25nations. Three have already ratified,as of early February.

EU expansionNewly elected Romanian Prime

Minister Calin Tariceanu has pledgedto get the former communist nationinto the European Union. Tariceanutold his parliament that the movewould “end the transition to a marketeconomy and begin the process ofmodernizing the country, a processclosely linked to joining theEuropean Union.”

Meanwhile, Viktor Yushchenko,likely to be inaugurated as president ofthe Ukraine, will begin a push to bringthat country into the European Union.

Kofi’s conflictOn the one hand…. United

Nations Secretary-General KofiAnnan called on both Israelis andPalestinians to fulfill their interna-tional obligations. Annan remindedthem of the vital importance of exer-cising maximum restraint and respon-sibility during the critical periodbefore their (now-completed) JanuaryPalestinian presidential elections.

On the other hand…. The Bushadministration has demanded thatUN Secretary-General Kofi Annanbe held accountable for mismanage-ment in the oil-for-food program.The program began in December1996 to allow Iraq to sell oil and pur-chase civilian goods. UN internalauditors found management lapses inthe now-defunct $64 billion program.

English as world languageResearcher David Graddol says

that two billion people will be learn-ing English in the next decade, as itbecomes a “world language.” TheFuture of English report, launched inEdinburgh at a British Council con-ference on international education,used computer modeling to predictthe onset of a “wave” of English-learning around the world. The fore-

cast points to a surge in English learn-ing that could peak around 2010.

Abbas: On the road againMahmoud Abbas, the newly elect-

ed Palestinian Authority president, isappealing to Israel for talks “so thatwe can end, once and for all, the his-toric conflict between us.” He alsocalled for a return to negotiations onthe Roadmap for Peace backed by theUnited States. Because Palestinianattacks continued, Prime MinisterAriel Sharon ordered all contact cutwith Abbas and the P.A. until the ter-rorists were reined in. However,when Abbas stationed 4,000 securitypolice along the Gaza border to pre-vent attacks against Israelis, Sharonsoftened his stance.

Palestinian militant factions gaveAbbas a verbal commitment to ceaseviolence for about a month givinghim a chance to finalize a cease-firewith Israel. Subsequently, Abbas andSharon agreed to a ceasefire at theSharm el-Sheikh Summit.

On February 20th, the Israeli cabi-net voted final approval for Sharon’splanned withdrawal from Gaza. Allsettlers are required by law to be outof the stipulated areas by July 20,2005. Also on February 20th, the cab-inet announced the new route of thesecurity fence that Israel is building.Many world leaders believe that thisunilateral withdrawal by Israel willlead to the resumption of progressthrough the Roadmap for Peace.

In the 12th Century, the reveredJewish sage Maimonides prophe-sied that, before the return of the

Jewish people from exile was com-pleted and before Jerusalem wastotally rebuilt, the Jewish Sanhedrinwould be reborn. The return of Jewsto Israel is not yet complete, theJewish temple is not yet rebuilt, andon October 13, 2004, the Sanhedrinwas reborn.

Maimonides also foretold thatElijah would appear before the rein-stated Sanhedrin to announce theidentity of the Messiah. Will Elijahreappear as Maimonides predicted, orwill it be the False Prophet mas-querading as Elijah announcing thefalse messiah—the Antichrist?

Sanhedrin began by Moses?The Sanhedrin points back to

Moses as the source of its authority.In Numbers 11:16-17, God instruct-ed Moses to appoint seventy men ofthe elders of Israel to share in theresponsibilities of leadership for thenation. Since that time, the Sanhedrinhas consisted of one leader plus 70members.

The earliest record we have of theSanhedrin was given by Josephus,who wrote of a political Sanhedrinconvened by the Romans in 57 BC. Itbecame the supreme religious body inIsrael during the time of the SecondTemple.

The Sanhedrin is mentioned fre-quently in the New Testament. Itconspired to have Jesus killed by pay-ing one of His disciples, JudasIscariot, thirty pieces of silver fordelivering Jesus into its hands. Whenthe Sanhedrin was unable to provideevidence that Jesus had committed acapital crime, false witnesses cameforward and accused Him of blasphe-my. Because the council was deprivedof the ability to condemn criminals todeath, Jesus was brought before theRoman governor of Judea, PontiusPilate, for a decision concerning hisfate.

The apostles Peter, John, and Paul,along with the first Christian martyr,Stephen, were all brought before theSanhedrin at one time or another forthe crime of preaching the name ofJesus.

The Sanhedrin diminished greatlyin influence after the destruction of

the Second Temple in 70 AD. It wasfinally disbanded altogether in 425AD.

Reborn: October 13, 2004The recent ceremony to reestablish

the Sanhedrin was held in the city ofTiberias because that was the locationof its disbanding about 1600 yearsago. Once the formal reinstitution ofthe council was completed, it imme-diately moved to its permanent homein Jerusalem.

One of the leaders of the rebirth ofthe Sanhedrin is Rabbi YeshaiBa’avad of Beit El (Bethel). He saidthat the 71 rabbis on the new councilreceived the special ordination, inaccordance with Maimonides’ rul-ings, over the past several months.Rabbi Ba’avad explained that the goalis to have one rabbinic body inJerusalem that will convene monthlyand issue rulings on central issues.“This is the need of the generationand of the hour,” he said.

Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, who heads theTemple Institute in Jerusalem, is oneof the participating rabbis. TheTemple Institute has been the leadingentity in preparing for the futurebuilding of the Third Temple and forthe reinstitution of temple worship.

Sanhedrin visits Temple MountIn a dramatic but unpublicized

move, members of the newly estab-lished Sanhedrin ascended the TempleMount, Judaism’s holiest site, onDecember 6, 2004. The men, manyascending the Temple Mount for thefirst time, had immersed in mikvaot(ritual baths) that morning, andplanned to ascend as a group. Despiteprior approval from the Israeli policewho oversee entry to the Mount, theofficers barred the group from enter-ing the Mount together, and allowedthem to visit only in groups of ten.The visit took place on the eve ofHanukah, which celebrates therededication of the Holy Temple.

Role of the SanhedrinThe Temple Institute’s Rabbi

Chaim Richman, also a member ofthe Sanhedrin, hopes the newSanhedrin will bring about a revolu-tion in Jewish jurisprudence.Declining to discuss exactly whatissues are on the Sanhedrin’s agenda,

Richman said that one of the mainlong-term goals is to reunify Jewishobservance in Israel. The Sanhedrinincludes members of Ashkenazi,Sefardi, Hasidic, National-Religiousand Hareidi communities.

Included in the Sanhedrin’s discus-sions so far have been the status of theTemple Mount; rebuilding theTemple and the Altar; restoration ofthe Passover Sacrifice; restoration ofthe Davidic monarchy and the returnof the Tribes of Israel!

“We can make a real difference,”Rabbi Richman said. “Many cardinalissues are on the public agenda, andour body – which is totally based onTorah, even down to its rules and reg-ulations – is naturally geared to dealwith them. [Included are] issues suchas agunot (estranged women whosehusbands refuse to give them adivorce), abortions, traffic safety,economic issues, education, and somuch more.

“Not only are we commanded toestablish the Sanhedrin,” Richmanstated, “but this seems to be the per-fect time to do so—a time of Divinewill. On the one hand, there is a spir-itual void in the ‘establishment,’ andon the other hand, there is a real thirstamong the public for spirituality andguidance.”

The rabbis were asked to preparetopics they thought the Sanhedrinshould deal with, and a fascinatingarray of topics was produced. Inaddition to those mentioned aboveby Rabbi Richman, the list includedsuch issues as:

* uniform kosher certification * the precise length of the biblical

cubit (with ramifications on manyissues, including the location of thealtar on the Temple Mount)

* assisting Anousim from Spainand Portugal and others whose ances-tors were forced to convert toChristianity

* lost Jewish tribes from other partsof the world

* an ethical code for Israel’s army(as opposed to the present one, whichis based largely on secular sources)

* the establishment of regional“small Sanhedrins”

* the long-missing “blue color”needed to create certain items for thetemple

Paschal offering was delivered at arecent meeting, not all of the 71 areyet convinced that the time is ripefor it. Various opinions were putforth, including some by thoseopposed to the renewal of thePassover offering until the exactlocation of the Temple altar is deter-mined through prophecy.

Where should Third Temple be built?

The Sanhedrin’s February meetingwas devoted to discussing the properlocation for the rebuilding of Israel’stemple on the Temple Mount. Twomain opinions were presented byexperts speaking on the subject.

Some held that the true temple site

is where the Dome of the Rock ispresently located. Those holding thisview contend that the Ark of theCovenant actually sat on the largerock that projects up through thefloor of the Muslim shrine.

Other scholars contended that theFirst and Second Temples stoodnorth of the Dome of the Rock.They believe that the small cupolalocated there, called the Dome of theSpirits, marks the original site of theholiest of holies. The attractivenessof this position to many is that thetemple could be built without trig-gering the political earthquake thatwould be produced by tearing downthe Dome of the Rock. Almost allobservers believe that tearing down

the Dome, which has stood on thesite since 690 AD, would ignite aworld war.

After hearing the different opin-ions, a subcommittee was appointedthat would take everything presentedunder advisement. It was determinedthat, after hearing the report of thesubcommittee, the Sanhedrin wouldthen make the final judgment as towhere the Third Temple should bebuilt.

The rebuilding of the temple on theTemple Mount for the times justahead was prophesied in scripturearound 2,000 years ago. It was specif-ically foretold in II Thessalonians2:3-4 and in Revelation 11:1-2. Bothof these prophecies place the rebuild-ing around the time of the Antichrist.

Because of Yasser Arafat’s deathand the new peace initiatives that aremaking progress as a result, theRoadmap for Peace, which addressesthe status of the Temple Mount,appears to be back on track.

The vessels and utensils needed forthe renewal of temple worship havenow been completed.

Now, the Sanhedrin is reestablishedand is studying where to build theThird Temple, where to build thealtar, and when the Passover sacrificesshould be resumed.

All of these things have a directbearing on the prophecies of the end-time and the prophesied building ofthe Third Temple. Can the Antichrist,the mark of the beast and the SecondComing of Jesus be far behind?

He is also Annan’s personalenvoy to North Korea and the brew-ing nuclear stand-off occurring there.Endtime caught up with Dr. Strong inOctober at his home in Toronto,Canada. …on North KoreaIIrrvviinn:: We are so happy to welcome

Dr. Strong. What are your presentduties at the United Nations?

MMaauurriiccee:: I am continuing my workwith the United Nations as the specialassistant to the Secretary-General,Kofi Annan. In particular, I am hispersonal envoy in respect of theNorth Korean nuclear missile crisis.

IIrrvviinn:: So, you’re in the hot seatright now.

MMaauurriiccee:: Well, we’re hoping thatseat will not get any hotter.

EEddddiiee:: Do you have a direct line toKim Jong-II?

MMaauurriiccee:: Well, not a direct line, no,but I have very frequent communica-tion with his officials. I go toPyongyang from time to time. I am inconstant touch with them and theother key actors, the United States, ofcourse, South Korea, China, Russiaand Japan.

IIrrvviinn:: Are you involved when thesix-party talks are taking place?

MMaauurriiccee:: We are not involved, inthe sense that we are not at the table.We are not one of the parties. But weare very strongly involved in sup-porting those talks and look at themas the most hopeful means of negoti-ating a peaceful settlement of this dis-pute.

IIrrvviinn:: It’s being said that North

Korea has nuclear weaponry, maybeas high as six weapons right now. Doyou deem that claim as true?

MMaauurriiccee:: I think they have to betaken very seriously. I have not seennor counted the weapons, but thosewho are expert at this do make it clearthat we must take that claim serious-ly. They, indeed, make that claimthemselves. We know they have thecapability, and we must assume thatwhen they say they have developednuclear weapons, that is likely to bethe case.

…on UN Reform & battling the U.S.veto

IIrrvviinn:: You have been a leader inUN reform for some time. Manypeople believe that the UnitedNations has become outdated since itwas put together in 1945. Some 60years later, what reforms have beenmade as a result of your efforts andthe efforts of others, and whatreforms are envisioned for the future?

MMaauurriiccee:: One of the first thingsthat Secretary-General Kofi Annandid when he came to that post was toinstitute a process of reform. Heasked me to be the instrument forleading that process, but as you quiterightly pointed out it involved a lot ofother people. Under the UN Charter,the Secretary-General has extensivepowers as the chief administrative orexecutive officer. He came up with aprogram in which some 32 differentprograms or departments were con-solidated into four executive deci-sion-making groups. There is sub-stantial reduction, something like30% of administrative costs, the sav-ings of which went into a special fundfor developing countries. The organi-zation was streamlined significantly.

improve the actual capacity of theUnited Nations to perform, but theydid not attack those broader issues,which only the members themselves,the owners of the United Nations,can undertake in that respect duringthe reform program. [Annan] mademany recommendations, more basicreforms our governments couldundertake, and while the govern-ments have considered those, veryfew have actually been adopted.Ultimately, the Secretary-General canonly recommend in those fundamen-tal areas. Like, for example, reform ofthe Security Council. As you rightlypoint out, the Security Council is oneof the areas that reflect the geopoliticsof the world that immerged fromWWII rather than the geopolitics oftoday, and despite the fact that manyhave called for it, reform of theSecurity Council has not yet beenachieved.

IIrrvviinn:: I know that the debate overthe UN Security Council opened the59th General Assembly and has beenongoing. I read a few of those speech-es and noticed that speakers werecalling for reform of the SecurityCouncil. You have your fingers onthe pulse of this. How soon do youexpect to actually see reform of theUN Security Council?

MMaauurriiccee:: Reform is long overdue.The danger here is that, if reform isnot affected to ensure that theSecurity Council more fully reflectsthe structure of power in today’sworld, then it will gradually bebypassed and lose it’s relevance. Thiswould be a loss to the entire worldbecause the Security Council per-forms some functions that areabsolutely indispensable to worldpeace and security. The problem isthat those who feel their own powersand prerogatives may be diluted byreform are resisting change.

EEddddiiee: Would you say that the U.S.might be one of the chief offenders? Iknow that’s a politically incorrectquestion to ask.

MMaauurriiccee:: No, I think that the U.S.has indeed been strongly urgingreform. Of course other countriesurge reform as well, and yet have not

yet been able to agree on a formulathat they can accept. So, it’s not just aprinciple of reform. Most countriesaccept the need for reform. The realproblem is that, while there has beena general agreement that reform isnecessary, the will to actually agreeon the nature of those reforms hassimply not been there. The Iraq situ-ation, for example, makes it clear thatsuch reform is necessary.

There are so many importantnations in the world that should berepresented in this forum but are not.After all, the five permanent membersof the Security Council, the ones thathave permanent seats and veto power,are all important countries today; butthey exclude some of the otherimportant countries. For example,the developing world today has over80 percent of the world’s people andonly has one seat out of the five onthe Security Council—China. AndChina is more than just an ordinarydeveloping country. It is an impor-tant power in itself and deserves sucha seat. But for other powers, such asJapan and Germany, to be excluded isanother weakening of the influenceand credibility of the SecurityCouncil. Most members will agreewith this in principle, but not in thespecifics needed to actually achievereform.

IIrrvviinn:: Is that because to reform isinevitably going to dilute their poweron the Security Council in one wayor another?

MMaauurriiccee:: Yes, I think that is cer-tainly one of the motivations.Another motivation for those whoagree that the Security Councilshould be expanded to make it morerepresentative of today’s world isthat they do not always agree on whothe other members should be. Forexample, Italy—an important coun-try, yes, but not a truly great powertoday, resists the idea that Germanyshould become a member. Notbecause it doesn’t like Germany—Germany and Italy are part of theEuropean Union—but because itbelieves that the representation ofEurope should be more based on theEuropean Union than on simplyelecting one more European country.Others point out that you already

have France and Great Britain there,so if you add Germany, you wouldhave three European powers. YetEurope, in broad overall terms,should not be, according to most,entitled to three seats on the SecurityCouncil.

EEddddiiee:: Isn’t it all about the vetopower? When does majority carrythe day?

MMaauurriiccee:: It’s not all about the vetopower. Majority carries the day whenno member with a veto votes againstit because a vote against by such aparty constitutes a veto. So, a majori-ty vote carries the day, except when itis accompanied by a veto.

IIrrvviinn:: I noticed under PresidentBill Clinton, who was considered afriend of the UN, the United Stateswas continually lagging behind in itscontributions. Then President Bushcame in and paid up everything, yethe is considered an enemy of the UN.Which one was really a friend andwhich one was an enemy?

MMaauurriiccee:: I don’t think it’s a ques-tion of friends or enemies. I think theUnited States has always been thegreatest friend and supporter of theUN. But under any administrationthere have always been differences.The arrears of the United States didnot start with the Clinton administra-tion and neither did the friendshipwith the UN. After all, the U.S. wasthe primary power that created theUN. But the U.S., as the world’s onlysuperpower today, has both specialinterests in and for the UN. At thesame time there are lots of occasionswhere its tendency and temptation isto act unilaterally when they find itdifficult to get the kind of agreementrequired for UN action. There’salways a tension between the world’sgreatest power and the rest of thepowers as represented by the UN.After all, the UN is like Congress,like a parliament. It has no power ofits own. It’s simply a forum in whichthe nations of the world try to dothings collectively rather than unilat-erally, and unless you can get agree-ment, obviously, it cannot carry outits actions. That’s something thatmost people don’t understand. They

think that the UN can act independ-ently. Why doesn’t the UN do this?Why doesn’t the UN do that? Well,the UN can only do what its mem-bers, on a case-by-case basis, agreethat it should do.

IIrrvviinn:: I’d like to pause here amoment to make sure everyoneunderstands that the real power at theUnited Nations does reside in theSecurity Council. They can makedecisions and pass resolutions thatwould place a nation under economicsanctions, and can actually make adecision to invade a nation. We’rediscussing the Security Councilbecause it is such an important organ-ism. In it, certain nations have vetopower that can thwart the will of 190nations.

There is a tremendous debate rightnow as to whether the world shouldbe run multilaterally or unilaterally.In one of the presidential debatesJohn Kerry said that you have to passthe global test in order to decidewhat to do. President Bush dis-agreed.

In your judgment, Dr. Strong,when will we see reform of the UNSecurity Council? Is it within a yearor two or three?

MMaauurriiccee:: I think it cannot bedelayed much longer otherwise therelevance and the effectiveness of theSecurity Council will be eroded andthere will be a tendency to go aroundit, not to use it. Decisions on impor-tant situations that threaten worldsecurity will be made outside the UNwhere it is very difficult to reach andenforce agreements.

IIrrvviinn:: A proposal has been made toallow a Security Council veto to beoverridden by a two-thirds vote ofthe General Assembly. Is this propos-al good or bad?

MMaauurriiccee:: It goes to a situation thatother governments carry out at thenational level. In the U.S. govern-ment, for example, a presidential vetocan be overridden by Congress by atwo-thirds vote. The principle is cer-tainly accepted as valid by manynations. In that sense it obviouslyneeds consideration. Certainly at theglobal level it would make sense to

provide for an override in some situ-ations. There are two kinds of situa-tions in which a veto is used: thosethat may directly and imminentlythreaten the security of a nation andthose that may directly or indirectlyaffect their interests. It is conceivablethat there could be conditions underwhich an override could be used thatwould restrict its use to certain con-ditions that do not affect the immedi-ate threats to security.

IIrrvviinn:: Does this have any chance ofpassing?

MMaauurriiccee:: I don’t think it will passin isolation. Any such reforms willhave to be undertaken as part of amore general reform, which, forexample, provides for the expansionof the Security Council—for the elec-tion of new permanent members.That, of course, is a very controver-sial matter: how big can and shouldthe Security Council be without los-ing its effectiveness?

EEddddiiee:: Is there a need for the for-mation of a parallel organization tothe UN that truly reflects today’sworld? The UN reflects a post-WWII alignment and, as you said,that’s not the world we have today. Isthere a need to keep the UN alive butshift the real power over to anotherorganization that is reflective of theworld today?

MMaauurriiccee:: The trouble with that isthe United Nations comprises virtu-ally all the nations of the world. Ifreform of the United Nations is diffi-cult, creating a new organizationwould involve exactly the same coun-tries and therefore consist of the sameproblems. I don’t think this is theanswer. Reinventing and revitalizingthe organization we have is far morelikely to succeed than starting fromsquare one or forming a new organi-zation with the same membershipand the same challenges.

For the last 2,500 years, Biblestudents have been mesmerizedby the prophecy of Daniel 9:27,

which predicts the climactic seven-year period immediately precedingArmageddon. Thousands of prophe-cy scholars have asked themselves: Isit near? Could it begin this year?

And for the last 2,500 years theanswer has been the same. Not thisyear. It’s not time yet.

However, those of us who under-stand the inerrancy of scripture knowthat someday that answer willchange. The time will come when allof the required events will line up,and the final seven years will begin.

Now for the big question: Could2005 be that year?

The pieces of the prophetic puzzlehave never been closer to being inplace. Technology is obviouslypreparing society for the implemen-tation of the mark of the beast. Theconditions of Sodom and Gomorrahare being replicated by rampanthomosexuality and the advent ofsame-sex marriage. The world’s first-ever world court has recently beenestablished to enforce the edicts ofthe emerging world government.

And most importantly, events inIsrael seem to be aligned to fulfill theprophesied conditions of the confir-mation of the covenant, whichbegins the final seven years.

What the prophecies say aboutthe final seven years

Daniel 9:27 specifically states thatthe Antichrist and the internationalcommunity will confirm a covenant

with Israel that will mark the begin-ning of the final seven years.

This confirmation of the covenantwill apparently open the way for thesharing of the Temple Mount and thebuilding of Israel’s Third Temple.Once the temple is completed, theoffering of daily animal sacrifices willbe resumed.

Animal sacrifices will not be toler-ated for long by animal rightsactivists and the world community.They will be stopped by theAntichrist, who will stand in the tem-ple claiming to be God.

All of these things will come topass before the final three and one-half years begin.

The present situationRemember that the confirmation of

the covenant will be an internationalagreement concerning the status ofthe Holy Land and the TempleMount. It will apparently be con-firmed with Israel by the Antichristand the world community overwhich he rules.

come to peace terms on their own.On the initiative of then U.S.Secretary of State Colin Powell, anew alliance was formed called theQuartet. It was composed of the U.S.,the EU, the Russian Federation andthe UN. By including all the greatpowers plus the UN (representingevery nation on earth), the Quartettruly is a world alliance.

The mission of the Quartet was tocraft a Middle East peace plan, whichwould then be presented to bothsides. It was anticipated that neitherPalestinians nor Israelis would darereject a peace plan that had the sup-port of the entire world community.

The plan, called the Roadmap forPeace, was presented to both sides inApril of 2003. It dealt with theboundaries of the Holy Land and thestatus of Jerusalem, and was acceptedin June 2003 at a ceremony presidedover by President Bush. Hopes werehigh, but nothing happened.

The first step in the Roadmapcalled for Palestinians to disarm theterrorists and dismantle terrorist enti-ties such as Hamas and the IslamicJihad. Arafat refused to allow thisfirst step to be taken. Consequently,the Roadmap sat ‘dead in the water’from June 2003 to November 2004.

Arafat’s death changed everything.England’s Tony Blair expressed theopinion that the roadblock to theRoadmap had been removed.President Bush boldly expressed hisbelief that peace in the Middle Eastwould be achieved during his secondterm.

On January 9, 2005, Palestinianelections were held. Mahmoud Abbasreceived 62% of the vote, becomingthe newly elected Palestinian presi-dent. The question in everyone’smind was: Would Abbas have thestrength and the courage to reign inthe militants? If not, the peaceprocess would be dead before it couldbe revived.

Abbas surprised everyone bydeploying over 4,000 Palestinianpolicemen along the Gaza border. Itwas reported that they were givenorders to fire upon any Palestiniansthat attempted attacks on Israel. Theball was back in Israel’s court.

Sharon’s disengagement planOver a year ago, Sharon declared

that Israel did not have a peace part-ner. Therefore, he announced a planto unilaterally withdraw from areasthat would obviously not be retainedby Israel in a final settlement. Heasserted that Israelis and Palestinianssimply could not live together peace-fully at this time. Consequently,Israel decided to build a securityfence that would keep Israelis on oneside, while Palestinians remained onthe other.

Sharon’s disengagement plan hasresulted in the unraveling of his gov-erning coalition and the formation ofa new coalition with the Labor Party,which favors the disengagement plan.Despite bitter infighting amongIsrael’s political factions, the Knessethas now voted to approve the plan. Itis anticipated that Israel’s withdrawalwill begin by May.

The United States and the interna-tional community see the disengage-ment as a big step that could jump-start the Roadmap for Peace. TheIsraeli settlers see it as the ultimatecompromise—forsaking part of theland promised to Israel in the Bible.

Palestinian President Mahmoud

Abbas thinks Israel’s Gaza withdraw-al will create momentum that willallow the two sides to immediatelymove final status talks. He thinkssecret negotiations should be heldaway from the glare of media atten-tion, and that total peace could yet beattained in 2005.

Is 2005 a year of destiny?In Prime Minister Sharon’s recent

speech at the Herzliya Conference,he indicated in no uncertain termsthat he views 2005 as an historic year.This is what he said: “And in 2005,we have the opportunity for an his-toric breakthrough in the relationsbetween us and the Palestinians, abreakthrough for which we havewaited many years.

“In order to actualize these oppor-tunities, we must take the initiative.This is the hour, this is the time. Thisis the national test.”

Tony Blair believes now is the timefor peace in the Middle East.President Bush agrees. MahmoudAbbas thinks a final agreement can beachieved this year. And PrimeMinister Sharon believes 2005 is ayear of historic destiny.

So what will happen?We know from the Bible’s prophe-

cies that somehow we move fromwhere we are now to a shared TempleMount with a Jewish temple built onit. It appears that this arrangementwill be supervised by UN forces.

Can present developments possiblylead us into these prophetic fulfill-ments? It appears so.

If Abbas can convince Hamas andthe Islamic Jihad to maintain theceasefire, then negotiations can con-tinue. The sharing of the TempleMount will either be a result of nego-tiations or of unilateral action on thepart of the Israelis. If UN troops par-ticipate in keeping the peace, then it ismost likely that the sharing of theTemple Mount will be a result of anegotiated settlement.

The stated goal of all the actionspresently being taken in thePalestinian-Israeli situation is to putthe Roadmap for Peace back on track.If the Roadmap is successfullyreestablished, it is very likely that thiswill mark the beginning of the finalseven years.

To ask the question is only natu-ral for a catastrophe of suchcataclysmic proportions. Over

220,000 people were killed in one day.The carnage either rivaled or exceed-ed any one-day’s death toll from anywar in history. To compare, thenuclear bombing of Hiroshima killed‘only’ 140,000.

Instances of natural disasters, ter-ror attacks, wars and rumors of warsalways precipitate a deluge of lettersand emails to us from students ofBible prophecy and from those whoare just plain scared. The obviousquestion is asked — in this case, wasDecember 26th’s tsunami in theBible?

It is easy to jump to conclusions.Recall Y2K. It was to be the mother ofall disasters, and most didn’t knowhow to argue against the apocalypsethat was obviously coming on January1, 2000, at 12:01 a.m. There were somewho wanted to believe it. For aprophecy-oriented ministry, it was aunique moment in time to capitalizeon fear in order to guide a multitude offrightened souls into salvation.However, something was wrong. In allof our studies and research, we couldnot find Y2K anywhere in the prophe-cies of the Bible.

Conclusion jumping: It was intu-itively obvious to the casual observerthat Revelation chapter 18 was ful-

filled on September 11th. The proofswere numerous. New York, theworld’s financial capital, is where“the merchants of the earth are waxedrich through the abundance of herdelicacies (verse 3). Therefore shallher plagues come in one day, death,and mourning… burned with fire (v.8). They shall see the smoke of herburning, standing afar (v. 9-10). Duston their heads (v. 19). With violenceshall that great city… be throwndown (v. 21).” Each one of thesescriptures presents a staggering casefor this prophecy’s fulfillment.Unfortunately, each has been pre-sented grossly out of context. reveals that such a conclusion is noteven in the ballpark. But sometimespeople want to believe.

Surely you read about what theQur’an has to say about 9/11.Witness Qur’an chapter 9, verse 11:“For it is written that a son of Arabiawould awaken a fearsome Eagle. Thewrath of the Eagle would be feltthroughout the lands of Allah and lo,while some of the people trembled indespair still more rejoiced; for thewrath of the Eagle cleansed the landsof Allah; and there was peace.” Closeenough to reality for you? It would

be, except that the scripture is an out-right fabrication.

Others look to the Bible Code tointerpret all signs and wonders.

The bottom line is that conclusionjumping is dangerous. It is a tempta-tion, and it is the quickest way toflush one’s credibility into the abyssof irresponsible scaremongers.

So, what about the tsunami?Earthquakes are prophesied in theBible for the endtime. Was this mas-sive subaquatic 9.0 quake thatspawned the tsunami the proverbial‘it’?

Earthquakes in the BibleTo simplify what could be a com-

plex subject, there are two types ofearthquakes that will occur in theendtime. The first is spoken of inMatthew 24:6-8: “…the end is notyet. For nation shall rise againstnation, and kingdom against king-dom: and there shall be famines, andpestilences, and earthquakes, indivers places. All these are the begin-ning of sorrows.” The earthquakesreferenced here are precursors tothose that will occur when all thingswrap up at Armageddon.

Then there is the ‘big one’. Severalreferences are made in the Bible’s lastbook to the great earthquake that willoccur at Armageddon. It is discussedin Revelation 6:12, 8:5, 11:13, 11:19,and 16:18. It is one event told fromdifferent vantage points, a fact provenby comparing the 6th Seal, 7thTrumpet, 7th Vial, Matthew 24:29and Ezekiel 38:18-22 (see the first les-son of Understanding the Endtime-Level 3). Since we have not yetreached this point in time, the tsuna-mi did not fulfill any of Revelation’searthquakes; rather, it fulfills the for-mer scripture in Matthew 24 citedabove. But that’s not the end of thestory.

Geologists have reported that somesmall islands in the region were liter-ally moved out of their places. Suchan event is specifically prophesied tooccur at Armageddon. The 6th Sealdescribes it as a time when “…everymountain and island were moved outof their places” (Revelation 6:14). The7th Vial, a parallel description ofArmageddon, reads, “And everyisland fled away, and the mountainswere not found” (Revelation 16:20).

While this event was obviouslynot fulfilled on December 26, it iseasy for us now to imagine howthese passages will be fulfilledby Armageddon’s earthquake.

Revelation 16:18:“…and there wasa great earth-quake, such aswas not since menwere upon theearth, so mightyan earthquake,and so great.” Theislands will move.

The sea and thewaves roaring

Ponder Luke21:25: “And thereshall be signs inthe sun, and in themoon, and in thestars; and uponthe earth distressof nations, withperplexity; the seaand the wavesroaring.”

This scripture isa direct parallel toMatthew 24:29,which as notedabove is a directparallel to the 6thSeal, 7th Trumpetand 7th Vial — thegreat earthquakeat Armageddon.We can now seesomething wenever beforestopped to con-sider — thatunderwater earth-quakes bring forthtsunamis. The seaand the waves willbe roaring.

Taking thisrealization onestep further, wenow refocus ourattention on apassage that hasalways seemedmysterious. It’sRevelation 12:15-16, speaking of atime during theGreat Tribu-lation, meaningbefore the 6thSeal, 7th Trumpetand 7th Vial:“And the serpent

We have always taken this passageto be symbolic, figurative. Could itbe literal? Is it possible that a severeearthquake will occur in theMediterranean sending a tsunami inthe direction of Israel — and then asecond earthquake along the coast ofIsrael that creates a chasm largeenough to swallow the tsunamiwave? Although there is a major faultline along the northern rim of theMediterranean, at this point this sce-nario seems too far-fetched toembrace. We are inclined to cling to ametaphorical interpretation ofRevelation 12:15-16. And yet…

For certain, the horrific event ofDecember 26 does cause one to take afresh look at some of these matters.

‘The big one’ is yet to comeCan we assert that the tsunami ful-

filled a specific prophecy? Theanswer is no. There has been a docu-mented dramatic increase in the fre-quency of earthquakes worldwide inthe past 100 years, so in this regard,yes, the tsunami is part of Matthew24:7’s prophecy of earthquakes invarious places.

The best way to look at this over-whelming calamity, however, is to seeit as a minor precursor to the physicalshift prophesied to take place duringArmageddon. That is when we willsee the simultaneous destruction ofRome and the splitting of the Mountof Olives in Jerusalem 1,200 milesaway. The Bible describes this greatearthquake as: “…such as was notsince men were upon the earth, somighty an earthquake, and so great.”It will sweep through theMediterranean, and undoubtedlyother parts of the world, producingtsunamis and other devastation neverbefore seen or imagined. It will be so

vast that it will perhaps fundamental-ly alter the atmospheric conditions ofthe planet. The book of Isaiah tells usthat, during the post-Armageddonmillennium, men will again live to bealmost 1,000 years of age, as they didin the days before the flood. Somehave theorized that, with the flood,there was a tremendous rearrange-ment of the earth, resulting in short-ened life spans. When these cata-clysmic events occur at Armageddon,it appears to reverse this condition,restoring earth to the way it was.While this is conjecture, we do knowthat something is going to happen—whether it is through physical meansorchestrated by God or by a purelysupernatural occurrence.

This world is getting ready for anincredible shaking. It will be best tobe on the Lord’s good side when ithappens. Isaiah 24:20 prophesies,“The earth shall reel to and fro like adrunkard.” Today it is easier thanyesterday to envision how that mighthappen.

Many images and ideas cometo mind when people thinkof Noah’s flood. Quite often

though, what most people envision isfar from the actual cataclysmic eventthat forever changed the planet. OnDecember 26, 2004 the Earth experi-enced another cataclysmic event thathas forever changed this planet.

As creationists have stud-ied and continue to study thegeology of our Earth, theyfind evidence to support theflood of Noah’s day.Mountains arose and valleyssunk down. In fact, ourEarth took six violent swingsat the time of Noah’s flood.These swings were an out-come of the uneven forcesthat were applied to theEarth. There is evidence thatour planet stood straight upon its axis in the original cre-ation; however, it now is tilt-ed at a 23 1/2 degree angle.This angle provides us withthe four seasons that weexperience today in the post-flood world. In like fashion,the recent tsunami movedislands, and it also made theEarth again wobble.

The international weeklyjournal of science, Nature,reported on January 6, 2005that due to the recent earth-quake in the Indian Oceanthe sea floor was “forced upby 10 meters” and “created alow amplitude wave travel-ing at up to 900 mph.” The

resulting tsunami also made the Earthwobble. Also according to the article,the event “has literally redrawn themap moving some islands by up to 20meters.” With this in mind, let’s takea closer look at Noah’s flood.

The Bible records the details of theflood in Genesis 7. Verse 11 specifi-cally describes the fountains of the

great deep breaking up and the win-dows of heaven opening. In otherwords, forces from opposite ends ofthe spectrum had a meeting, and itwas violent.

The “windows of heaven” refers tothe canopy of water that God placedat the time of creation between ouratmosphere and outer space. The

fountains of the great deep wouldinclude the volcanic activity and whatwe know today as geysers or geother-mal vents.

The once stable tropic environmentknown as the pre-flood worldbecame the stage for a cataclysmicevent. The deep cold of space fell,doing battle with the deep heatreleased from the underground volca-noes and earthquakes. Compare thisdynamic with what we know todayabout divergent weather patterns.When a cold front meets a warmfront the result is bad weather. Well,in Noah’s flood “bad weather” wouldhave been an understatement, for itoccurred in extremes and worldwide.Water and ice came crashing downfrom the heavens meeting the lavaand intense heat that arose frombeneath the Earth’s surface.

Fast-forward to present day whenmany living in a tropical paradisefound themselves under a veil ofwater from the unmatched power of atsunami created by one single earth-quake. Over 200,000 lost their lives.Events such as this tsunami tragedyclearly display how this Earth and itsfeatures can be changed in a veryshort timeframe.

Events such as these provideinvaluable information for creation-ists, who study the flood of Noah’sday. We see all the evidence in thegeological world surrounding us, butto see the power of these earthquakesand tsunamis completely verify theteachings of Biblical scientists.

Anyone on this planet can see theevidence of what the flood’s powerdid on a grand scale about 4,400 yearsago, such as carving the GrandCanyon, creating the mountains allover the world, and placing the giantice caps centered at the magneticpoles. In 1980, Mt. St. Helens provid-ed tremendous proof of the extent ofdamage, which can be created by anearthquake and a volcano. About3,000 feet of the mountain was blownfrom the northern slope, and theToutle River Canyon was formed inhours. This is just another exampleshowing how quickly these eventscan occur. The layering and carvingfound at Mt. St. Helens were createdin a matter of days and in some casesjust minutes. However, according toevolutionary teaching these types of

features are always viewed as havingtaken hundreds of millions of yearsto form. One example is the lavadome that sealed the volcano andended the eruptions. It took fivemonths to form. When evolutionary-based radiometric dating methodswere used to date the new lava dome,the results came back reporting thedome to be hundreds of millions ofyears old. The dates included atremendous range of time, but nonewere accurate.

With the tsunami, we have nowbeen able to document the power ofan earthquake in the ocean. Theeffects of volcanic activity, moving

water, and massive death to humanityand the plant and animal kingdomscan be measured. Valuable informa-tion will no doubt be collected andstudied for years. Indeed, all goodscience will always verify what theBible says. “Thy word is truth,” asJesus states in John 17:17.

We have experienced again, 25years after Mt. St. Helens, anotherevent, which shows on a small scalethe effects we see on a larger scaleregarding Noah’s flood. As a creationscientist, I teach people weekly aboutNoah’s flood and the phenomenalaffects it had on this planet. Asreported in Nature, “The total forcereleased was enough to jolt the entireplanet.” This shows us how muchdamage “even just a little” movingwater can do. God not only joltedthe planet at the time of the flood,but He totally refashioned it throughvolcanoes, flooding, hydrologic sort-ing and falling precipitation.

The Bible discusses that at the endof this age the heaven will depart likea scroll, every mountain and islandwill be moved out of their places andthe elements will melt with ferventheat. Although we may not yet beable to fully comprehend what theseevents entail, we have seen what canquickly happen to our planet by justone earthquake.

The world seemed poised on arazor’s edge, ready at anymoment to plunge itself into

the dark abyss of a nuclear holocaust.Alliances were formed, pacts drawnup and gunboat diplomacy was stan-dard fare. At the United Nations, anemotional Soviet leader – NikitaKhrushchev – pounded his shoe onthe table. And in schoolroomsaround the world, children wereinstructed to hide under their desksin the event of a local nuclear strike.

For those of us who remember theCold War, or portions thereof, it wasa time of extremes: extreme nervous-ness and extreme uncertainty.

It was also a heady time for worldgovernment advocates. As the SovietBear and the American Eaglescrapped it out in the war-torn vil-lages of third world countries, theonly viable alternative to an eventualall-out nuclear confrontation seemedto lie in the creation of some type ofworld government system. Hence, inthe late 1950s and early 60s, both theUSSR and the United States officiallydevised a series of plans to jointlyequip the United Nations with armswhile dismantling their own militaryforces.

On September 18th, 1959, theSoviets unveiled a three-stage pro-posal for “general and complete dis-armament,” including the “completeprohibition of atomic and hydrogenweapons.” And later, as this proposalwas revised and expanded, a UNstanding army was inserted into thetexts.

In 1961, the United States releasedits roadmap for a UN military. For allpractical purposes, this made-in-America proposal was identical to theSoviet plan. Expressed through theU.S. State Department’s document,Freedom From War: The UnitedStates Program for General andComplete Disarmament in a PeacefulWorld, the U.S. administration envi-sioned a time when both superpow-ers could unite their forces under theUN banner.

How much clout would this UNmilitary force be given? According toFreedom From War, “internationallaw would proceed to a point whereno state would have the militarypower to challenge the progressivelystrengthened U.N. Peace Force…”Moreover, in its Summary, the docu-ment stated that one of its major goalswas “the elimination from nationalarsenals of all armaments, includingall weapons of mass destruction andthe means for their delivery, otherthan those required for a UnitedNations Peace Force…” [italicsadded]. World government advo-cates, especially World Federalistmembers, pounced on the idea of“general and complete disarmament,”

and spearheaded the creation of theU.S. Arms Control and DisarmamentAgency – an official federal bodycharged with global disarmamenttasks.

But hardly before the ink was dryon either Freedom From War or theU.S. Arms Control legislation, the1962 Cuban missile crisis brought theBear and Eagle to the brink of anuclear exchange. While this effec-tively halted international disarma-ment plans, the idea of militarilyempowering the United Nationsnever went away. Thomas Schelling, amember of the Council on ForeignRelations and a celebrated strategist,graphically detailed the real potencyof an international army in his mid-1960s essay, “Strategy: A WorldForce in Operation,”

“The three main kinds of mili-tary action that the force couldtake against a united countrywould be pain, conquest, andobstruction. By ‘pain’ I meansheer coercive damage. Nuclearor other weapons might be usedto inflict civil damage at a ratesufficient to induce the govern-ment to change its mind andbend to the will of the interna-tional authority. By ‘conquest’ Imean invasion or occupationsufficient to put the internation-al authority into the role ofoccupying power. By ‘obstruc-tion’ I mean military actiondesigned to retard a country’srearmament, to make it more

costly than the country couldmanage, to spoil it altogether orto impede it sufficiently to pre-vent a major threat to the securi-ty of other countries. This mightbe done either by selectivebombing or by selective invasionand occupation of key facilities.”

Schelling suggested that thisforce could acquire citizen“hostages,” and more...

“One could go even furtherand let the force have a monop-oly of critical medicines to usefor bacterial warfare on a trans-gressor country. As soon as itstarts an epidemic, it sends itsmedical units in to make surethat no one suffers who cooper-ates. Those who oppose it – mil-itary forces, government leaders,or anyone else – are withoutessential vaccines and mustdecide for themselves whether tostay at large and suffer or to sur-render to be cured.”

Radical ideas? Yes. Even Schellingagreed that these schemes sufferedfrom “meanness, and would not beacceptable.” But, he explained, the“cards should be stacked in favor ofthe international force…”

Flash forward to the 1990s. TheCold War has ended, and politiciansfrom Washington to Moscow aretalking about a “new world order” –the replacement of “national anar-chy” by the global “rule of law.”

Inevitably, a new calling for a UNmilitary force arose. Documentstouting the virtues of “collectivesecurity” and a “robust” UnitedNations flowed from the offices ofthe UN Secretary General, U.S.Congressmen, the governments ofCanada, Sweden, Denmark andNorway. The UN, we were told,needed teeth.

Some, however, believed that theinternational community should beequipped with more than just bulletsand blue helmets. The Henry L.Stimson Center, a Washington D.C.political think-tank with deep con-nections inside the beltway, releasedtwo reports in 1996 advocating thatthe United Nations be equipped withnuclear weaponry. Ensuring that

nations would comply with a globaldisarmament program, OccasionalPaper 31 suggested that,

“…it might be desirable toretain some kind of internationalnuclear force as a hedge againstone or more nations cheating ona disarmament agreement…the‘outlaw’ use or possession ofnuclear weapons could bedeterred or prevented by anuclear-armed multi-nationalsheriff...One possibility wouldbe a United Nations nuclearforce, a force strong enough tomake it pointless for any nationto cheat…” [George H. Quester,International Safeguards forEliminating Weapons of MassDestruction, December 1996].

In a second Occasional Paper titledPhased Nuclear Disarmament andU.S. Defense Policy, it was suggestedthat the international communitycould directly authorize certainnations to rebuild previously disman-tled nuclear stockpiles in order tobring pressure on “outlaw” coun-tries. Obviously, this arrangementrequires some type of world “execu-tive authority.”

In the January/February 2005 issueof Foreign Policy, Stephen Krasner – adistinguished professor of interna-tional relations at StanfordUniversity and a member of theCouncil on Foreign Relations – daredto ask the question; What would hap-pen to national sovereignty if terror-ists detonated nuclear devices inWashington D.C., New Delhi, Berlin,and Los Angeles?

Two developments emerge inKrasner’s nuclear scenario: First,powerful nations would act on theirown in waging “preventative wars,”no longer seeking UN approval butfinding it, perhaps, in entities such asthe G8 and NATO. And secondly, asa new political landscape emerged,the United Nations would be trans-formed or its duties would be trans-ferred to “new international organi-zations,” such as a strengthenedCommunity of Democracies.

In other words, for a period of timewe would likely see a hybrid system.Ultimately, however, the internation-al community would have to enforce

its will to guarantee security – justwhat “global doctors” prescribed inthe 1950s and 60s.

Krasner reinforces this notion bystating that nations which step out ofline “would be declared a threat tointernational peace…would bedeclared incompetent to govern…”necessitating that a “consortium ofmajor powers would assume execu-tive authority and declare the interna-tional legal sovereignty of the occu-pied territory null and void.”

Shades of world government? Youbet.

Consider this truism made byLester Pearson, former PrimeMinister of Canada and architect ofNATO; “There is a time in an inter-national crisis when all are so fright-ened of what might happen that theywill accept many things that theywould not have even contemplatedbefore the crisis…” [Peace in theFamily of Man, p.15]

It’s not hard to envision that, in thepolitical aftermath of a nuclear attack– be it through a single or multipletarget strike, perpetrated either by aterrorist group or a “rogue nation,”the world will clamor for security atthe expense of sovereignty. Whenthat time comes, will the internation-al community settle for just “bulletsand blue helmets”…or somethingwith a bigger bang?

2005may be the greatest year of prophetic

fulfillment since the crucifixion.Confirmation of the Covenant…......The Bible prophesies thatthe International Community will confirm a covenant with Israel concerning the statusof the Holy Land and the status of Jerusalem. When this covenant is confirmed it willmark the beginning of the final seven years to Armageddon. The Roadmap for Peaceis an international covenant concerning the status of the Holy Land and the status ofJerusalem. This international peace plan has been presented to Israel and thePalestinians and has been accepted by both.

It appears that all the pieces to the Middle East puzzle may well converge in 2005!

RFID and the Mark of the Beast………As of December 31,2004, Wal-Mart is requiring all its vendors to have RFID tagging on all pallets thatcome across its loading docks. This is the first huge step in the plan for every itemmanufactured on earth to be embedded with an RFID chip less than the size of agrain of sand. The embedded RFID chip is projected to replace the bar codes that arepresently found on almost all items. But we know we don’t have long.
