Purple Day On Friday, we will be holding our Purple Day in support of Muswellbrook Relay for Life. Students can come to school dressed out of uniform – preferably wearing at least one purple item. The cost will be a $2 donation. We will also be holding a raffle on the day. Tickets will be 50c each.
Book Week Next week is Book Week. We will be holding a book week parade on Tuesday 23rd August. Students are asked to dress up as their favourite book character (K-1-2 may use the same outfit they are going to wear to Little Sprouts). The parade will take place at 2.45pm. All parents and community members are most welcome to come and join the fun.
Director Visit Next week Mr Mark Young, Director of Schools for the Wollemi Network, will be visiting the school. He will be looking at our school plan, budget and student results and discussing how things are generally progressing.
Playground Supervision A quick reminder to parents that students do not need to be at school before 8.50am. Teachers are not required to be on duty before this time, so students arriving early must sit in the COLA area. We understand that sometimes parents have work commitments and appointments and need to drop their children off earlier. If this is the case, please arrange this beforehand with staff. Thank you.

What’s Happening in 2/3 This term in English year 2 are studying the text “Bugalugs Bum Thief” by Tim Winton. In this text we are focusing on how the author uses words to help build up the complication of the story. We are identifying different types of sentences within the story and discussing how this helps provide the reader with different images. In mathematics year 2 have just completed the investigation titled “Show Time”. In this investigation the class focused on such concepts as addition facts, mental strategies for addition, subtraction facts, mental strategies for subtraction, money and time. In the investigation students were given a show guide where they were required to make choices such as the food they wish to purchase, rides they want to go on and buying show bags; all with a budget of $60.00. All students had a great time and many budgets were exceeded and needed to be reviewed.
Sportsperson of the Week Declan Adams - great participation in basketball.
