To whom it may concern:

At Rosecrance, a leading provider of behavioral health services, we know

that schools, churches, and community organizations actively teach kids

resiliency. But we feel strongly that drug prevention starts with the parents

too, which is why we have launched a substance abuse prevention initiative—

It’s more than “just say no:” Raising Resilient and Drug-Free Kids.

In the past year, Rosecrance has served more than 30,000 children, teens,

adults, and families, and with this program we are confident we will help

even more. Aimed at the parents of 3rd - 8th graders, the goal is to provide

informative and practical tips for parents to support and educate their children,

as well as help them make the right decisions when faced with peer pressure

and stressors.

Attendees will hear what parents can do to encourage resilience and

responsibility, learn about risk factors, and how to help children develop

good coping and decision-making skills.

The sessions will be led by experienced counselor, Claudia Evenson, who has

worked as a senior addiction counselor for many years in treatment centers

and psychiatric hospitals. She now works with Rosecrance Community

Relations.

Rosecrance is enthusiastic about this program, and eager to equip parents with

the proper tools to help them educate, correct, and support their children. We

feel passionate about the possibility of making conversations surrounding

substance abuse more comfortable and impactful for both parents and youth.

To create change in a community it takes collaboration and connection, and

we hope you will consider partnering with Rosecrance. Allow our experts to

help you reach the parents of your school, church, or organization with this

free, community program. Together we can provide help and hope to the

communities we serve.

Blessings to you and yours,

Philip W. Eaton

Giving Tree Program In addition to holiday sharing and the coat drive, we are also continuing our Giving Tree Program. In this program, families in need indicate a specific need and a desired gift for each child in their family. They may also make a request for a need for their household. Each of these needs/wants will be written on a paper ornament and placed on a holiday tree in the school. If they would like to, Sandburg families and staff members may choose the gifts that they would like to provide for these families by taking an ornament, registering it on a form in the office, buying the gifts and turning them in to the Sandburg office by December 7th. The program is confidential so that givers and receivers are unaware of each others’ identities. Ornaments will be available starting on Halloween. If you are unable to come to Sandburg to choose an ornament and you would like one sent home to you, please turn in the form below or email Laura Sychowski at [email protected]. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Sychowski (682-2105). Thank you so much!
