Buckinghamshire County Council School Improvement Service Sam Brewer School Improvement Consultant [email protected] Sam has specialised in the achievement of ethnic minority pupils for 8 years, particularly Gypsy, Roma, Travellers and EAL learners. She successfully managed a Traveller Education Service and has an in- depth understanding of the many barriers faced by schools and the community in raising the attainment of this vulnerable group. Sam has also supported schools in meeting the needs of pupils with EAL, both new arrivals and advanced learners, and has developed teacher’s expertise in language development. She is a certified ‘Talking Partners’ trainer and is passionate about language development for all pupils and the role that talk plays in improving writing. Sam has taught in the primary phase, both in rural and town schools.
