Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 11th Annual Baldy Maker Bull Sale. We are confident once again in the offering we are bringing this year. Our offering consists of our top 80% of spring yearling bulls. There are many 1/2 brothers and flush brothers to put together that will keep the consistency in your herd. Our main donor cow, BT Everelda Entense 566P progeny have averaged over $5,100. This cow is powerful and here's your opportunity to add her genetics to your program. Traynham Ranches has been producing Angus cattle for 35+ years. In addition to our registered breeding herd, is a set of 800+ commercial cows. We use our own bulls and have been able to test them in the foothills in California in winter and the Klamath Marsh during summer months. We demand bulls with a good set of feet and legs, soundness, muscle and eye appeal and who will sire calves at the top of the market. We have a strict culling program by elimination any poor performers, bad udders, unsound feet and legs and any cows that don't breed back. Our bulls will perform in any range scenario from the foothills of California to high mountain desert operations.

These bulls have been developed only on their mother’s milk and irrigated grass up until weaning time. From weaning until mid May, the bulls were fed free choice grass hay and supplemented with a small amount of grain. Our bulls are on a complete Pfizer Animal Herd Health vaccination program.

In addition to the bulls selling, we will be offering a real nice set of Angus 1st calf heifer pairs. We are excited to bring a top group to you. These females are from the heart of our program. They are as good as they get with nice udders and fleshing ability and we're confident they will make productive cows.

There will be wintering options available on your bull purchases from Traynham Ranches. If buyers purchase 3 to 5 bulls, feed costs will be split 50/50. On purchases of 6 or more Traynham bulls, we will winter, feed and deliver them free of charge until March 1st. It is buyer’s responsibility to purchase livestock mortality insurance if the wintering option is desired. Insurance can be obtained on your purchase at the time of settlement.

It has been a year of extremes. Extreme drought, fires, feed costs and extremely good cattle prices. It is hard to make plans when every aspect is volatile. All I can say is that having highly efficient cattle will help your bottom line. In these years of less feed, having a set of good moder-ate highly efficient cows will cut feed cost and stretch the time on your pastures. I am not writing this as a sales gimmick. I am writing this because that is what we have had to focus on our ranch to stay profitable. We expect our cows to excel, whether we have lots of feed or it’s pretty scarce. Our cows are exceeding our expectations every year. So imagine what these genetics can do for you.

It has been quite an exciting year for The Poplars Ranch, Inc. We had the 2012 Red Bluff Halter Champion, and the Champion and Reserve Champion Range Ready bulls, and they sold exceptionally well. We have developed a wonderful following of customers for our bulls. I believe that’s because our bulls do the job we intended them to do for our customers. We intend for these bulls to keep your birth weights moderate, have offspring that will grow as big as the feed will al-low, provide replacements that will provide you with years of profitability, and also intend to have it where their calves are so profitable for your customers, that buyers will fight over them for years to come.

This year we have 30+ outstanding bulls for you to buy. I believe that this set of bulls is the most consistent that we have brought. Their EPD’s are some of the best that you will see. We have se-lected sires that excel in all criteria, because we believe in providing you with complete genetics. These bulls have been raised just like always, turned out on crested wheat pasture, and grown out conservatively, so that you are provided with a bull that can handle the range. We are excited about the first calves out of Rocket and 9245. These bulls really combine all the genes that we are looking for. Rocket would be our candidate for the top EPD bull in the nation. I do not know of another bull that combines growth, maternal and carcass traits, while being a “no worry” heifer bull.

We understand that not all of you will need your bulls immediately. So, we will be offering a feed-ing option for your bulls through the winter. We believe that this deal is agreeable for all parties.
