News from Fr. Citino’s Desk

Dear Parishioners, As we remember the events of 9.11.01, let us pray for all the victims, their families and all who suffered from that tragic day. Let us also pray to God for peace, security, justice and mercy for our nation and our world. The following scripture passage from Isaiah, I offer for your personal prayer and reflection:

A strong city have we;

he sets up walls and ramparts to protect us. Open up the gates

to let in a nation that is just, one that keeps faith.

A nation of firm purpose you keep in peace;

in peace, for its trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever!

For the Lord is an eternal Rock.

The way of the just is smooth; the path of the just you make level.

Yes, for your way and your judgements, O Lord, we look to you;

your name and your title are the desire of our souls.

My soul yearns for you in the night,

yes, my spirit within me keeps vigil for you; when your judgement dawns upon the earth,

the world’s inhabitants learn justice.

O Lord, you mete out peace to us, for it is you who have accomplished all we have

done.

Lord we trust in you.

God bless us all! Fr. Citino

Adult Faith Formation

NEW- Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.) Inquiry Sessions

Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Is there someone you know among your family or friends who is searching for answers to some of the bigger questions in life? Inquiry sessions about the R.C.I.A. process will be held on the follow-ing Wednesdays in September: 9/15/ and 9/22 in the Parish Center from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. These gatherings are informal and intended to give you an opportunity to meet the RCIA team and answer some of your questions regarding Catholic spiritual-ity. If you have any questions, please contact Judy Magee at 484.473.8205 or [email protected].

Who is the R.C.I.A. for?

It is for those who have never been baptized and are seeking information on becoming a Catholic Christian.

It is for those who are baptized and have joined

us from another Christian denomination but have little knowledge and experience of what it means to be a Catholic Christian.

It is for adult Catholics who would like to com-

plete the sacraments of initiation: (Eucharist and Confirmation)

It is for anyone considering Catholicism as a

way of life who wishes to explore the faith to inform their decision.

What does it mean to be a Catholic man today?

Thursday, September 30, 2021 7:00 PM Many men are now asking themselves this ques-tion. We want to be better men, better husbands, better fathers. But sometimes it’s hard to know how to start. That’s why our parish is hosting Into the Breach, a Knights of Columbus led program for men seeking to answer the question: What does it mean to be an authentic, Catholic man in today’s world? The lessons of Into the Breach are powerful and will help each of us to be better men. They will improve our relationship with God, with our wives, with our children and grandchildren, and with the entire community. Weekly sessions consist of two 10 to 12-minute videos followed by guided discussion of the topics presented where men are encouraged to help each other on the journey towards authentic Cath-olic masculinity. The first Into the Breach session starts on Thurs-day, September 30 at 7:00 PM in the Parish Cen-ter. There is a small $5 fee to cover the cost of the program study guide and light refreshments will be available. To join us on our six-week journey Into the Breach, register on our parish website via the QR code below, or email [email protected].

The Reluctant Saint: The Story of St. Joseph of Cupertino- Maximilian Schell stars as "the flying friar," St. Joseph of Cupertino, in this heartwarm-ing and true story of the humble Franciscan friar who literally rose to sainthood. In the impoverished village of seventeenth century Cupertino, Italy, Jo-seph's peasant mother convinces the reluctant Abbott to accept her son into the monastery. With the support of the kindly local Bishop who sees in him a great deal more than others do, and by a series of miraculous incidents, the simple but pi-ous Joseph is ordained a priest. Bible Study: Galatians- Join Dr. Michael Barber and Dr. James Prothro as they dive into St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians. This new multipart series walks through this pivotal book and how it fits in with the rest of the New Testament, as well as how Paul’s writings can help us grow in relation-ship with Jesus. Drawing Strength from Our Lady of Sorrows by Kimberly Hahn - Speaker and author Kimberly Hahn, wife of Dr. Scott Hahn and mother of six, is a convert to the Catholic Faith. Although honoring Mary was difficult for her to understand initially, she began to encounter Mary's loving guidance in little ways on a daily basis. In this presentation, Kimberly reflects on the joys and sorrows that Mary prayerfully experienced during her time on earth, and shares how her example leads us clos-er to Christ. Join in the Season of Creation September 1 to October 4, 2021

The Season of Creation is the annual Christian cele-bration of prayer and actin for our common home. Together, the ecumenical family around the world unites to protect and advocate for God’s creation. The season started September 1, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and ends October 4, the Feast of St. Francis Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations. Pope Francis encouraged participation in Season of Creation: “Now is the time for all people especially Catholics and Christians, to increase their commit-ment to our common home by doing more than ever to protect God’s creation.” Resources for prayer and action can be found at: www.seasonofcreation.org.

Dear Families,

In today’s Gospel, since the disciples know that Je-sus is the One, Jesus shares with them His future path of being rejected, of suffering and dying and His resurrection so we all may be granted eternal life. The scenario of what Jesus will need to endure is difficult for the disciples to comprehend. Even more so when they realize that the same may hap-pen to them. Jesus ask all of us to spread His Good News even if it means that we encounter skeptics or are ridiculed. Bringing people to the Lord is more important. May we always help others grow their relationship with our Lord, Miss. Michele
