The dates for the Baptism of children and for the Pre-Baptismal instruction of parents should be arranged in the rectory ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament may also be in Italian.

•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

“Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen… for those who speak thus show that they are seeking a homeland.” “Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom.” Remember the flamboyant congressman and minister known for his mantra ‘Keep the faith baby’? It is faith in God, belief in His word which gives

meaning to life. I ask myself what do I hope for and what is the evidence not seen. My life in the church is one of faith, which must continue to grow daily. Even when I have disappointments, I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. I look to the Lord and the fulfillment of His promises. His kingdom has already begun in my living the faith found in the church, in my life of prayer and the sacraments. The Father has given me the kingdom already. I ask that I may see the kingdom now in the church and pray, ‘Thy kingdom come.’ “La fe es la garantía de los bienes que se esperan, la plena certeza de las realidades que no se ven… Los que hablan así demuestran claramente que buscan una patria.” “No temas, pequeño Rebaño, porque el Padre de ustedes ha querido darles el Reino.” ¿Recuerdan al extravagante congresista y ministro conocido por su mantra: ‘Mantengan la Fe, queridos’? Es la fe en Dios, la creencia en Su palabra lo que da sentido a nuestras vidas. Me pregunto qué es lo que yo espero y cuál es la evidencia no vista. Mi vida en la iglesia es una de fe, que debe continuar creciendo diariamente. Aún cuando tengo decepciones, mantengo mis ojos fijos en Jesús. Recurro al Señor y creo en que se cumplirán Sus promesas. Su reino ha ya comenzado al vivir yo en la fe que encuentro en la iglesia, en mi vida de oración y en los sacramentos. El Padre me ha dado el reino ya. Pido que pueda yo ver el reino ahora en la iglesia y orar: ’Vénganos tu reino.”

“In questo brano del Vangelo Cristo ci dice di non avere paura, di non lasciarci prendere dall’angoscia: il nostro stato d’animo di sempre deve essere una tranquilla fiducia in Dio, poiché “al Padre vostro è piaciuto di darvi il suo regno”. Dobbiamo aprire un conto in questo regno, perché solo lì si trova la vera ricchezza. La motivazione e il fine dell’uomo provengono sempre da dove egli

pensa che si trovino i veri valori: “Perché dove è il vostro tesoro, lì sarà anche il vostro cuore”. Questa priorità implica che noi siamo distaccati dal denaro e dai beni materiali, e che li utilizziamo per il bene altrui, essendo responsabili davanti a Dio della loro gestione. Dobbiamo anche tenerci in uno stato di veglia costante, aspettando la venuta di Cristo: “Siate pronti, con la cintura ai fianchi e le lucerne accese”. Come i servi non sanno quando il loro padrone rientrerà dal ricevimento di nozze, come un uomo non può sapere quando entreranno i ladri nella sua casa, così noi non conosciamo l’ora della nostra morte, quando cioè Cristo tornerà per noi.

WOMEN’S DAY OF REFLECTION WITH FR. VILLA

Location: Siena Friary, 25 Laurel Ave., Mt. Vernon, NY

Our yearly day of recollection with Fr. Villa is Saturday, September 21st.

The day's theme will be: The Spirituality of the Eucharist

Arrival at 9 AM for coffee and donuts and end with a 2:00pm Mass. Please bring your own lunch, and bring a beverage if you want something other than

coffee or bottled water.

The cost is $30; however, Fr. Villa stressed that if someone were not able to afford that,

they should not hesitate to come. For more information,

Next weekend Father Peter, a priest from India, will speak at all the Masses.

Our Second collection will be to assist him in the work there. Envelopes for this collection may be

found in your envelope packet. The envelope is entitled Missionary Co-operative

and dated for September 15th, 2019. The collection will be taken up Next weekend

August 17, 2019.
