Lenten Regulations The Christian faithful are to do penance through prayer, fasting, abstinence and by exercising works of piety and

charity. All Fridays through the year, and especially during Lent, are penitential days.

Abstinence All who have reached their 14th birthday are to abstain

from eating meat on all Fridays during Lent.

Fasting All those who are 18 or older, until their 59th birthday, are to fast on Good Friday. Only one full meal is allowed on days of fast. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength may be taken according to one’s need: but together, they should

not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed.

Catholic Services Appeal donation envelopes can be found at

the entrances of the church. Please return your envelope to

the parish office, or collection basket during Mass.

Novena to Saint Joseph We began our Novena to Saint Joseph on March 11. A novena is typically nine days of prayer, public or private, as a preparation for a feast or for a special intention. This longstanding tradition recalls the nine days that Mary and the Apostles spent together in prayer between Ascension and Pentecost. There is an opportunity to pray the Novena here at St. Timothy’s each day in church or after Mass. If there is a day or two you are unable to attend, you are invited to take the Novena booklet home and pray on your own. Novena petitions can be placed in the petition box at Saint Joseph’s altar and will be prayed for each day during the

Novena. The Mass intention on Thursday, March 19, the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, will be for the Novena petitions.

Following is the remaining schedule: Day 4: Saturday, March 14 after 4:30 pm Mass, Day 5: Sunday, March 15 after 8:00 and 10:00 am Masses, Day 6: Monday, March 16 at 6:30 pm in church, Day 7: Tuesday, March 17 after 6:30 pm Mass, Day 8: Wednesday, March 18 after 8:15 am Mass, Day 9: Thursday, March 19 after 9:00 am Mass (Solemnity of Saint Joseph).

Spring Church Cleaning The following people are asked to be at the church at 9:30

am on Saturday, April 4 to clean the church. Cleaning

supplies will be provided. We will work until all the cleaning is

complete. Both men and women are needed.

If you are unable to attend, you are

responsible to find your own replacement. If

your name does not appear below and you

would like to help, please come. If you have

any questions, please contact Ashley Jude at

(763) 238-0429 or [email protected].
