Please Pray for our Engaged Couples
Lord God, the source of all love, the wise plan of your providence has
brought these young people together. As they prepare themselves for the
sacrament of marriage and pray for your grace, grant that, strengthened by
your blessing, they may grow in their respect for one another and cherish
each other with a sincere love. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Holy Land Carvings
We are proud to introduce ourselves as the Holy Land Carvings
group from the Holy Land. We have come to the United States
representing the Christian wood carvers of Bethlehem that rely
on the tourism to support their families. Due to the bad situation
and the interruption of the tourist trade, thousands of families in the Holy Land are in
danger of having to leave their homes in search of work. Our mission is to bring and
sell the Olive Wood Carvings to the Catholic Churches in the United States to help
the Christian families remain in their homes and support their families. These Christians
who make their livelihood through the selling of their hand carved Olive Wood reli-
gious items are depending on us to bring these beautiful carving, such as Nativity
Scenes, Crucifixes, Rosaries, Statues, Picture of the Last Supper, and several other reli-
gious items to you. Please look over these carvings that are available to you at the
weekend of July 20th&21st and help support this self-help project that enables to keep
the Christians present in the Holy Land. Your help and understanding in this crucial matter are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us
by phone or e-mail .

Focus on Life Benefit Dinner
Interested in a being a table captain for the annual
Grand Rapids Right to Life Benefit Dinner on Monday,
October 7, 6:30 pm –
9:00 pm at DeVos Place
Ballroom in Grand Rap-
ids? This is their biggest
benefit of the year.
The keynote speaker for the 32nd annual Focus on Life
Benefit Dinner will be Congressman from South
Carolina Trey Gowdy.
Gowdy entered Congress with a resolute commitment
to the conservative principles that have guided him
throughout his years in public service. In congress, he
served on the House Committees on Intelligence, Ethics, and Judiciary. Representative Gowdy fought to
uphold the Constitution and to protect the dignity of
human life. Don’t miss this evening of celebrating life
and championing the prolife cause.
Tables are $1,000 for 10 people, so gather a group of
10 friends at $100 per seat. For more information or
to receive a sponsorship packet contact: Jean Ricord
(616-566-1575) or GRRTL office directly ($500 deposit per table due no later than Sept 7)
Volunteer Ministers of Holy Communion
Needed at Mercy Health Saint Mary's:
to distribute holy Commun-
ion to Catholic patients.
Holy Communion is distrib-
uted 7 days per week. Ministers of holy Communion,
who are currently serving in their parish, and are able to
serve a minimum of two hours per week as a volunteer,
are asked to contact Monica Tyler, chaplain, at
[email protected] or 616-685-6359.
Michigan Values Life
A statewide signature gathering effort is now underway
across Michigan to ban the dismemberment abortion pro-
cedure. Over the next few months, the signatures of
400,000 registered voters are needed to bring this meas-
ure before Michigan lawmakers. Contact the parish of-
fice to sign the dismemberment abortion petition and make your pro-life voice
heard today. There is also a second petition drive from the “Michigan Heartbeat Coali-
tion.” The petition language would prohibit any abortion after cardiac activity is detect-
ed (approximately 6-8 weeks of gestation). While the intent of this legislation is honora-
ble, there is cause for great concern. Michigan law already protects all unborn children,
once a heartbeat is detected and even prior to its detection. This heartbeat petition
drive could weaken and potentially supersede Michigan’s existing pro-life law. There-
fore, Michigan Catholic Conference and the Catholic bishops in this state are not
supporting the heartbeat drive: www.micatholic.org/MichiganValuesLife/.
