Reflecciones del Pastor - Español
Queridos Amigos,
Binicio Orellana, Victoria Baires, Daisy Canizales, Fabio Preciado, Julie King, Mariana Escobar, Domitila Fulcar, Nalda Fajardo, Sara Paz, Virginia Castro, Dinora Pina, Hector Diaz, Anibal Castro, Sylvia Saavedra, Luis Leiva, Nazareth Velazquez, Jason Santillan, José Leonardo Rojas, Gabriel Fuentes, Francini Fuentes, Amalia Peña, Jorge Peña y Flor Guerrero.

Pastor’s Notes ~ English
Dear Friends, We are grateful for all that God has done for us in 2018! As we enter into the new year of 2019, I want to give thanks for the many, many people who have made our liturgies a blessing.
This week, I would like to thank our Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist or commonly referred to as “Eucharistic Ministers”. The sacrament of Holy Communion is the greatest gift that God has given to his church. Eucharistic Ministers are blessed with the precious privilege of distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful gathered in the assembly.
The Church receives the strength it needs to accomplish its perpetual mission from the Eucharist, linked to the sacrifice of the cross. Presence, sacrifice, and communion: the Eucharist is the source and summit of all evangelization, because its goal is the communion of human beings with Christ, with the Father and Holy Spirit. Please join me in thanking the Eucharistic Ministers that volunteer in our community.
Eucharistic Ministers for English Masses:
Marian Burns, Margery Murphy, Estalina Rodriguez, Barbara Haley, Reina Calle, Frank Gages, Margarita Salazar, Frances Cosgrove, & Aritheus Aponte.
Fr. Michael

Catholic Book Club – January 10
The Catholic Book club of St. Mary Parish will meet on Thursday January 10 at 7:00 pm. We are currently reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. Here are a couple of quotes from that book: “Now, five years is nothing in a man's life except when he is very young and very old... “ “He saw on the paper a picture of a man, white-skinned, who hung upon a crosspiece of wood. The man was without clothes except for a bit about his loins, and to all appearances he was dead, since his head drooped upon his shoulder and his eyes were closed above his bearded lips. Wang Lung looked at the pictured man in horror and with increasing interest.”
Holy Family Evenings – Saturday January 5 and 19
We invite all engaged or married couples to join us for our Holy Family evenings on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for Spiritual Formation, Prayer, and Fellowship. Food is provided. You are welcome but not obligated to bring something for our potluck supper. Children are welcome. We offer faith formation programs for children while the adults have their spiritual program. We conclude each night with the whole family before Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. We look forward to having you join us.
RCIA Have you been worshiping with us, but never officially taken the step to become Catholic? Have you been a Catholic all your life, but never celebrated all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist)? Have you join us from a diferent background and would like to find out more about the Catholic Church? Do you have a child who is 7 years or older that has not been baptized? If you (“or someone you know”) answers YES to any of these questions, you are invited to find
out more through a process called Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), here at Saint Mary
of the Annunciation Parish. It’s a journey that begins with your questions. For information contact
the parish at [email protected] or call Roberto Guardado (978) 387-7341.

From the time that we were young kids growing up in Dorchester receiving First Communion, through our marriage, as we brought up our own four boys, and now as grandparents, Boston priests have been a guiding light that we reach out to in different situations that have come up in our lives. As parents, our faith life has helped us to guide our family. We are an ordinary family, and, like all families, things don’t always go smoothly. The priests we have known through the years, like Fr. Peter Martocchio, have helped us to learn to take things in stride and put our faith in God, and that there is always hope. While not perfect, ours has been a wonderful life, which has been enriched by many Boston priests who have helped us along the way.
