To our Family at St. Mark, Greetings, and farewell, from the Jenkins Family. As you already know, I have now passed
all five of the Entry Level Competency Exams (ELCE’s) required for admission into the
Pastoral Formation program at Concordia Seminary. What you may not yet know is
that we have secured a townhouse to rent for the next three or four years which is
just blocks from the campus. This means that I will be able to walk or bike to classes
and will only need a car for my Field Education assignments (you will hear more about
this in the future). This will also allow Fadia the opportunity to more easily engage in all
of the on-campus activities available for spouses. And speaking of Fadia, she has ac-
cepted a job at St. Louis University Hospital working in their transplant laboratory. It is
similar to the work she has been doing at OU Medical for the past five years, but she
will be getting involved with new processes in DNA sequencing which is very exciting
for her. What all of this means is that, although I do not have to report to the seminary
until September 1st, things will be happening much faster than that. Our last weekend here will likely be the weekend of July 4th. Whether our house has
sold or not, or is even ready to market, we must go. After 17 years in the same house
and 17 years at St. Mark, this will be a very bitter-sweet time for us. We will be leaving
not just family members (and my home town), but we will also be saying good-bye to
many very dear friends. Yet, at the same time, we are excited about the plans that God
has prepared for us. But first He must continue to prepare us for them. So off to school
I go.
We can never thank any of you enough for the incredible generosity that all of you have
shown to us. And it is humbling to know that this generosity is an expression of your
belief that God is calling us into full-time ministry and also your trust in us to faithfully
answer that call. We will be writing to you often to update you on our journey and we
look forward to our visits home to Edmond and St. Mark.
In Christ,
Jeff & Fadia Jenkins
