VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2017:

Saint Jude Thaddeus VBS will be

held June 5th- 9th from 6:00pm –

8:45pm at the Knights of

Columbus Hall on Cropper Road.

All Incoming Pre-K through

incoming 5th grade students are welcome and

encouraged to participate.

▪ MONETARY SUPPORT: We are seeking

donations to help with the cost of craft

supplies, snacks and other activity related

expenses. Donations may be dropped off at the

church offices.

MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 29: There will be daily Mass

on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th at 8:30am.

KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE FOR TEENS: There will

be a teen Keeping Children Safe class on Saturday,

June 3rd at 9am in the St Jude Thaddeus Education

Building. The Diocese of Fort Worth requires that

any person, teen or adult, who volunteers in the

Diocese have a valid Keeping Children Safe

certificate on file. All teens that are volunteering at

VBS are required by the Diocese to attend this class.

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE: Fr. Khoi is leading a 10-

day pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The trip begins on

Monday, January 29, 2018 and returns on Wednesday,

February 7, 2018. The all-inclusive cost is $2,889 per

FAMILY FUN DAY: We will have our Family Fun Day

for all three parishes on Sunday, June 4th beginning

at 5pm. We will meet at the Permian Park in

Burkburnett for some outdoor grilling and family fun.

The Boomtown Aquatic Center is reserved and will

be available at 6:30pm for the first 100 interested in

the water activities. Please make plans to join us.

2017 VOCATION AWARENESS PROGRAM: If you

are single, Catholic, 18 to 40 years of age and have an

interest in learning about ministry as a Priest, Brother,

Sister, or Consecrated Lay Woman, join a group of

other men and women seeking similar answers at the

2017 Vocation Awareness Program. It’s a weekend

of talks, panel discussions, consultations and prayer

conducted by a professional religious staff. The event

will be held at the University of Dallas, June 16-18.

NORTH TEXAS NIGHT OF SCRIPTURE: The North

Texas Night of Scripture is Friday, June 2nd from

6:30-8:30pm at Immaculate Conception Church in

Denton. Dr. John Bergsma will give his legendary

presentation, the Overview of the Bible where he

focuses on Salvation History from Creation to the

Church. This is one of the most comprehensive

presentations on scripture in an easy to understand

manner. Dr. Bergsma is a bible scholar, professor at

Franciscan University, and author. Tickets are $15

and can be purchased ahead of time at

FAMILY FAITH SHARING

As we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension, we

are inclined to think, “Well, Jesus ascended to

heaven. We’re here on our own!” In today’s selection

from the end of Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus sends his

disciples into the world with a mission. The Church

is called to go to all the nations to make disciples.

That’s a big task - it’s been two thousand years and

we’re not finished yet!

But the “Good News” today is that we are

equipped to carry out that mission. In the second

reading, from the Letter to the Ephesians, we’re

invited to receive three special revelations: first, to

know the “hope that belongs to God’s call”; second,

to know the “riches of glory” that we’ve inherited;

and third, to realize the “surpassing greatness of

God’s power for us who believe.” It sounds like we

are equipped for the mission to the world, after all.

And finally, to get back to the Gospel, we’re not

on our own after all. Jesus promises, “I am with you

always, until the end of the age.” Through his Spirit,

which is poured out in the Church, Christ

accompanies us in our mission. It’s a big job, but we

have all the help we need. Let’s head down from the

mountaintop with confidence, and get to work!
