ANOINTING OF THE SICK A communal celebration is held twice yearly. In case of serious illness, impending surgery or advanced age, please contact the parish office or Fr. Johnson. The sacrament should not be delayed until the person is unconscious or in imminent danger of death.

Dear Friends in Christ, In his homily for Corpus Christi, last week, Pope Francis reflected on the act of blessing and how important it is to receive the blessing of the Lord, and, in turn, for us to bless others: Everything begins with blessing: words of goodness create a history of goodness. The same thing happens in the Gospel: before multiplying the loaves, Jesus blesses them: “Taking the five loaves, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples” (Lk 9:16). A blessing turns five loaves into food enough for a great crowd: the blessing releases a cascade of goodness. Why is it good to bless? Because it turns a word into a gift. When we bless, we are not doing something for ourselves, but for others. Blessing is not about saying nice words or trite phrases. No, it is about speaking goodness, speaking with love. That is what Melchizedek did, when he spontaneously blessed Abram, who had not said or done anything for him. Jesus did the same thing, and he showed what the blessing meant by freely distributing the loaves. How many times too, have we been blessed, in church or in our homes? How many times have we received words of encouragement, or a sign of the cross on our forehead? We were blessed on the day of our baptism, and we are blessed at the end of every Mass. The Eucharist is itself a school of blessing. God blesses us, his beloved children, and thus encourages us to keep going. And we, in turn, bless God in our assemblies (cf. Ps 68:26), rediscovering the joy of praise that liberates and heals the heart. We come to Mass, certain that we will be blessed by the Lord, and we leave in order to bless others in turn, to be channels of goodness in the world. POPE FRANCIS Blessings on your week! Fr. Johnson

New Office Hours The St. Jude Parish Office has new hours starting July 1st, 2019.

We will be open from 8:00am until 4pm - Mon.-Thurs. and 8:00am to 3:30pm on Friday’s

During the month of July only the office will close at 12:00noon on Fridays!

News about Fr. Sebastion… Last week I received news , that my new parochial vicar's Visa has been delayed and therefore Fr. Sebastian will not arrive until September. In the mean time we will have a guest priest who will assist us at St. Jude and Holy Innocents for the months of July and August. The guest priest, however, will be living at St. Jude and does not drive, so he will need transportation to and from Holy Innocents and St. Jude to say Mass and for sick calls and on some other occasions.

We are recruiting volunteers to help drive him, especially to Holy Innocents for Mass in the mornings.

Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Young Adult - St. Jude Catholic Church

St. Jude Parish in Redmond, WA, is seeking a faithful, practicing and high-energy Catholic who invites teens and young adults into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church. This person should be creative, a self-starter with a passion for evangelization of teens and young adults, and a clear understanding of relational ministry in forming disciples through retreats, religious education, socials, service opportunities and more. SCRIPTURE STUDY GROUP Summer Schedule

Do we walk in the way of the cross or do we follow some other way? We can ask how we follow Christ. Do we follow Christ through some special calling or through the ordinary Christian vocation and through the ac-ceptance of the challenge of daily living? We can ask which Christ do we follow. Do we fol-low a Christ of our own making, one that confirms us in our present lifestyle, or do we follow the Christ of the gospels, especially the Gospel of Luke: the hum-ble Christ dedicated to the liberation of the poor and oppressed?
